Yeah getting greedy is definitely much worse than being on the verge of bankruptcy. [up]
Allow me to translate this:
"I am aware that CIG's actions suggest they are running out of money, but my pride will not allow me to admit it so instead I'll pretend to myself that this is an act of greed rather than desperation. This is a compromise my mind can accept."
We can look forward to much more of these mental gymnastics as things get worse. When they finally collapse it's going to be interesting to see which route they go down: the "I knew all along it would never work" option, the "I got my money's worth, the journey was worth it, at least they tried" option, the "it's not over, we can make a fan version" option, or "grab the torches and hound Derek Smart".
Selling ships that then need dozens of reworks and still not appear in the game is the game so far

That's exactly the main excuse if/when it will fail.
The other one will be "too many haters depressed the poor Crobertz, it's all their fault!".
First there will be a denial phase "they only shut that studio because they are so close to release, this is a good sign the games coming soon".

The CrushBoss reply is quite telling, and worrying, who visited their Austin offices, came back and immediately went for a full refund.
When is the next big livestream event? It's looking ever more pivotal for the mood of their community, what with lots of quite open grumbling now.
If there is a breakdown of this product in the making it will be no different from the events before: spectacular fantasizing is replaced by bland and boring reality. Look at No Mans Sky how unspectacular the release unfolded. A few days of online rage by a bunch of disappointed people, the capitalists selling the product keep quiet, the overhyped fanboys disappear without publicly being sorry about making themselves stupid consumers believing obvious marketing crap, end of the story. Years of hype and online-wars just fall flat within a few days. As much as I wish Smart's Victory (tm) will equal the end of the world, just for my own entertainment, it unfortunately won't.
Hell I remember trying VERY hard to keep my hype for Elite down with very little success. And despite everything it still was a bit hit&miss. At least it was properly deli ered and it's being expanded.
Seems like a good way to go.

All I can think of now is the start of Hong Kong Phooey with bad photo-shopping, (or bad mo-cap)...

Indeed - posts like that absolutely reek of it. It's almost crystalline in its formulaic construction.
I think the silly thing with that post is its lack of objectivity. If that person is seriously bored with one game and in the honeymoon period of another then there's very little chance they're going to be objective about it.
The subreddit seems to delight in upvoting this sort of thing though.
The walls of Rome are falling, one by one the pledger's from which CIG had build his empire are deserting and refunding, the dominoes are in motion, there is no stopping it, there is not avoiding it.
A little reminder of the glorious days from when Star Citizen was more than just a dream, it was at reach, almost palpable, it was real.

The guys posing history makes me think it's genuine. If he wants to tool around falling out of turrets for a bit, that's up to him - sometimes it's nice to grab a break.
We'll see if he feels the same after a week.
