I think this is it.

The point of Kill Warrant Scanner?

OK,

I don't have one.

I point ship in direction of target, press G or T and my ship scans ship inside target screen.

It then tells me, clean or wanted. Then I choose to attack, or not.

I kill a wanted ship, I get bounty credit note etc etc.

So why do I need said 'kill warrant scanner'?

This seems like an oversight to me. Probably just forgot to enable it in super cruise as only certain "weapons" can be deployed in that mode.

The cloud analyser in elite 2 allowed you to come out in front of people if your ship was faster in hyper space. That's not possible in elite dangerous which I think is fine, awesome and makes super cruise fun.

But, it -could- take mass/speed/other stuff into account when creating the cloud(s) with larger ships leaving wakes for longer perhaps.

It could probably also do with making sure you see the next cloud if they jumped out before you got there after scanning their last cloud, and also match make to make sure you end up in their instance if you are trailing them via wakes.

Using this, you could do cool stuff like tail a trader, and find out his trade route jump route, then lie in wait at a clever spot. Or tail a pirate back to his fave pirate base where he re-arms, and catch him on his way home, with low ammo ;)

Currently insanely hard though, mostly because, the wake scanner doesn't work in super cruise

Who else is hoping this will be fixed for 1.3?

My latest post Is a bug report about the wake scanner...

Different bug, though.

The one mentioned above was fixed in 1.4 (making it my favourite update to date) then broken on the release of horizons but fixed in the next hot fix.

Don't worry guys, I got the wake scanners back.

I have been playing the elite series of games on and off for years though Amigas (which I still own a few off) to the brilliant GL versions, and have always loved playing them.

After reading through a couple of past threads I have wondered about something.

I assume as the source code for Frontier & FFE has never been released by Frontier Developments, the option for people to create new missions like the Thargoid series in FFE is not a option. it would be nice to be able to insert something new into the games.

Sorry if this subject has been broached before.

P.S haven't mentioned anything about release dates :D

Yeah, the view posts thing doesn't go past the current year for me. Had to do an advanced search on my Username (exact match) and then sort ascending by date.

We all know that Elite Dangerous looks breathtaking.
Often I would like to take screenshots/pictures of things around me - but the cockpit is in the way. (I know about the starter ship and looking up - not very useful).
So to not break game mechanics - how about hull mounted camera device in our ship that you can active and take clean full-res pictures of things around you?

Well I played the MMORG "Eve" for a while but you have no real control over your ship and the combat is turn based. So i soon got Bored! Cant wait for Elite 4 and I just hope it will be as good as the previous Elite games!
