Sorry, I just hate when people use the term "faith" with games or companies U,u

We shall see how this or other threads ends up in some hours

I am with you 100% there Rolan - I have faith in my friends and family - and... um, I can't think of anything else.

So on the one hand... SM was indeed somewhat janky, and didn't seem to offer anything new and exciting compared to any other FPS in about the last five years. The gravity forgetting to reset itself between rounds was especially egregious - Unreal Tournament had a zone/volume system for localised gravity in 1999, for goodness' sake.

But... It existed. It also mostly, in its quite basic form, worked. It's something that, given some time and a lot of love, I could maybe see myself wanting to play someday. Honestly at this point that shouldn't be high praise, but it's more than I expected, so fair play to CIG.

Well, it is because whole community managed their expectations well, well down. Really, other companies wouldn't get such slack as CIG is getting, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised about that at this point.

I didn't watch the whole thing - genuine question from someone who has no interest in FPS shooty business.

How was what was shown - spacedudes running around shooting each other in Star Marine - different to spacedudes running around shooting each other in not Star Marine?

What made it Star marine?

That moment when CIG forums praise sharing "internal schedule" (of course artificial as everything else SC pushes out in info bits)....some "open development" really going on here...

Honestly, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on that, and it is a step in the right direction. Assuming it does at least vaguely line up with the truth, it's probably the biggest bombshell CIG have dropped today in my book.

Of course, it can't all be good news - we've got more cash-only JPEG sales, and there was a complete lack of production quality or on-screen dynamic at times on the live stream. But on the whole, I'm facepalming somewhat less than I was expecting to be.

Edit:

As far as I can tell, zero-g (of which there was wasn't much, and even then not all of it was deliberately so). I can't think of anything even remotely approaching unique other than that.

Good question!

1) If you looked through a window you could see stars.

2) You could use bodyjets if you were outside (like in the PU)

3) ...

(Can someone help me with '3' please?)

Finally got home - looks like I missed it.

Hopefully it'll be up in all it's glory on youtube soon, and I can share a quality Friday evening with some beers and my lulzbucket :)

It was blander than other games, and seemed to have nothing to encourage tactics other than run and gun.
If you fired up Quake Arena and forced everyone to play as 'Doom Guy' (but without the fun weapons), you'd be pretty much there.

And first look at the Tevarin

We hope you enjoyed the reveal of the Prowler! Now, let's take a look at who created the original... #Tevarin #AerospaceExpo #StarCitizen

Well, those terminals reminded me of 1990's Olivetti laptops. That might be a unique feature...

At about :54 how can the length of the ship look like it's roughly roughly 5 or 6 times smaller than the diameter of the planet? Maybe it's just a Father Ted thing...

ETA - the above sentence makes no sense - remove roughly x 1 and add smaller than

And at 2:27 - CR must have mocapped the hands for that - or - was the spacedude doing the secret signal???

Also - why do all the characters look so weird when they've spent a bajillion on mocap? Did someone forget to tick the mocap on box?

ETA - Did I fall for another fake not in game video?? - oh the shame!

Have to give it to SC subreddit community - very levelled and cool headed approach. If this becomes a norm, they might even release something in the end. CIG forums however...
