Horizons How many people have bothered to fit ship launched fighters?

How many people have installed ship launched fighters in 1 or more of their ships

I did fit one on a Gunship I bought and (poorly) builded for the occasion and had a fun time trying it in a low intensity Nav Beacon with a harmless pilot I hired (and still have) for the occasion. I find it to be a great addition to bounty hunting with low target count, but not so much for combat zones.

SLF are a fun addition and give the player more options for surface flying, combat etc. I have my npc pilot ranked from harmless to dangerous and he is that. Money concerns are not an issue as I have hitting for 4 billion in assets with all the big boys and girls modded plus a billion in readies. I`m waiting on the Panther Clipper next so I can ram the station out of orbit and send it down in flames.

I have installed them on 2 ships.

1. On silent keelback, for ganking speeders
2. On explo conda (i like to fly them on strange new worlds, more than riding SRV)

Huge fun factor in flying the fighters - they are however terribly overpowered and I expect their weaponry to be turned down a notch or too. Its possible to take down Annie in them, with your main ship kept out of the fight. That feels wrong.

Vulture = 2x large.

Fighters have no such shield, armour and DPS. They are not even comparable.
If they will have less dps then they would be completely useless.

Now you can at least get some fun in PvE with them.

NPC are not so intelligent, so they cant shoot/aim fighter, cant use PIP management, they flying straight, or doing some useless maneuvers, thats why you can shoot them from the fighter.

Have you tried taking down a couple of fighters in a war zone - unless you use gimbals or seeker missiles they will last a whole lot longer against you than a vulture.

i think they should be much easier to hit - or keep them as they are and make their dps closer to an eagle. When you fly one you be very careless to get hit

Fighters fitted to my Corvette, Beluga, Anaconda and Cutter.

Anyone who could fit one, that doesn't have it, is both more vulnerable and missing out on a lot of fun.

Fitted a 6D on my anaconda since a few weeks, hired a harmless pilot who made it to deadly (she will get elite before I do) and very happy with fighter and crew. It is nice to have a companion in conflict zones even though she speaks too much, say the same things over and over again, and die a lot.

Sure. No problem at fixed in FDL for me. Just aim to red square and fire, no matter fighter or whatever. Sometimes i am missing first shot, but second, third and furth is hit & destroyed.

if i am using gimballs its one shot one kill. If you cant kill them from fixed, then use gimballs.

I played with SLFs in Beta and loved them. But I'm at Jaques, so can't equip, which is unfortunate. I really think I should return to the Bubble !

I love them. Sold my A rated Vulture for a keelback and a SLF. Would never go back. I've made more money bounty hunting with this combination than I ever did with the vulture. Bigger ships simply can't maneuver well enough to beat a SLF, if flown correctly.

SLF, imo, bring the "fighter" feeling to the game. I simply love the speed and maneuverability.

In the Oculus Rift, they are soooooo much fun. Finally, after 40+ years, I get to be the "space fighter' I dreamed of as a kid.

Fighters are good, but income tax pilots take on your income is terribad,12% and above is too much.

You don't have to use crew members with SLFs. I do, but the times I forgot to make a crew member active the old Keelback did just fine without one. Usually enemy ships concentrate on me anyway.

[edit] That's if you're flying the SLF

OP you need to forget about earning credits for a bit and just enjoy the flying ! The Keelback has just been transformed from a poor trade ship into a perfect surface salvage vessel, with the fighter bay installed and an SRV you still have 48 units of cargo space. If you enjoy collect missions for Gold, Palladium and corporate strike skimmer missions the new surface scanning mechanism makes this combo a really nice gameplay loop. The Keelback also has very tall landing struts, it's as if the fighter bay could be opened whilst on the deck ! If you engineer the Keelbacks thrusters the crewman can keep up whilst you fly the fighter down low searching for targets, landed ships appear on the radar making finding the caches of canisters much easier, did I remember to mention the new sensors !

I have and they do add to the fun of combat. The only thing I don't like is the spamming of the messages I get. Mine is currently 67% towards DEADLY.
