SHIP TRANSFER - Way too expensive / Jumping for hours = WASTE of time

Allthough I am too cheap to use it for long distance I rather have time delay than instant because of 'feel'... Now if the vote got to instant you would get posts about how bad that is but they would only have a basis in what they want not an actual time sink so their argument might been weaker.

With delay one has to plan. Without delay it feels like there is no point in flying because why dont we just beam cargo and people all over space...

I would like to see cheaper prices for long distance but that is because I am cheap and tight with my money

Ooooh, the fanboy base. Folks, if you like to waste your time in a useless game loop, fine. This game sucks. Gameplay sucks. Jumping for ages and gigantic grind loops are not gameplay. It s simply a bad game.

Interested to know why are you still here in that case?

I played Assassins Creed Syndicate for about an hour, and dropped it like a stone because it's simply a bad game...

The initial idea of ship transfer was to make the game more "playable", erasing the need to taxi between stations and seeing endless jump screens (=waste of time).

I went to the CG on Monday with my Conda and wanted to transfer my Corvette to get into action. It would have take more than 45 (!) minutes in my Corvette just to GET to the action becore I could actually do what I wanted to. So I took my Conda and it still took a lot of time and I literally was exhausted jumping dozens of times. I simply was not in the mood to play anymore as this useless and frustrating jumping bored me to death and the evening I planed to play this game was actually not about playing but more navigating my ship to the action. Then at least I wanted to get my Corvette to be shipped there for the next evening so I can start an Elite session with actually playing the game. The costs were around 18 (!!!!!!!) million credits. That's insane. And the time was ridiculously long.

So, what was planned to make the game more playable finally turned into a cash barrier (and time). I voted for a bit of a time gap but HELL NO! Not for a time and cash intensiv cash transfer. Another GREAT example of a total failure. Good initial though and approach by FDev, then totally crushed by the community and FDev itself.

AWESOME! This game sucks so hardcore.

All the time you wasn't there with your mighty Corvette, other players with smaller ships were able to enjoy the combat zone in open without you :)
It has always been this way. Small fast ships are the first line, the big heavy combat ships arrive as last.
IMO working as intended

No one has ever promised that you can manage a fleet easily and with no downsides

I've just discovered that there is a rep limit per 24 hr cycle. Who knew?

get cheaper ships, seriously. the transfer price of a DBE/DBS/courier/eagle is minimal.

and get a functional combat travelling ship.

i have a combat zones DBS and a courier, both above 30 ly jumprange, which i use to get "to the action" and play some rounds in a CZ, before my FDL arrives. or i take my DBE and enjoy the challenge.

if you are flying a non-functional travelling ship, to get travel time out of the game, and then complain about time or CR it takes to transfer the ship you wanted to fly ... that's a bit self induced, isn't it?

Yeah I do something similar. I'll personally use my Conda (mainly combat and travel fit) but once I get somewhere, if I want something like the Python or Clipper, I'll call in my DBE and use that to go and pick it up. The DBE costs penuts to ship and it has a respectable 40+ Jump.

It's only expensive if your ship is expensive - take a vulture out there, or an FDL and enjoy it. Big ships do seem to be a terrible burden :) A fleet with an AspX, Python and FDL in it seems to cover pretty much everything I ever want to do, without monstrous rebuys or huge amounts of grind to amass. I'd always thought Corvettes and Cutters were more status symbols than anything else.

I use ship transfer quite a bit btw, and I likes it :)

A major premise for the game is that it takes place in a huge galaxy where getting from A to B over hundreds of lighyears is a long journey. Sorry that you find that boring, but a lot of us players appreciate that aspect.

If you absolutely need to take part in every CG, even if it's on the other side of what is supposed to be a huge expanse of populated space, then by all means outfit a ship better suited for traveling. If you want to project absolute combat power over every corner of populated space, I'm sorry to inform you that it's not possible. There are consequences for choosing a particular ship, and you should not be able to be everywhere, shoot everything and survive everytime. That! would be boring!

I've criticized the game devs on many aspects (yeah FDEV! Engineers still sucks, bigtime bro!) but I cannot criticize them building the largest game world ever experienced to date. [squeeeee]

If the game came in a box, this should be on the back.

100% Really! The game was criticised from the very beginning that it doesn't offer much depth. This didn't change since then. For the last 2 years, FDev added new elements but did not remove the main problem, the missing depth. This game has no real gameplay. Why, check my posts on the Procedurally Generated game(play) elements... It's a shame as the framework is great. Great sound, great GFX, cool ships etc. The new voice actings they added make the universe more alive. But from a gaming perspective, you rotate in the same missions for 24 months, there's no variation, even the wohoo passengers missions are a derivative of cargo missions. The gameplay is lacking so hardcore. Once you did all the existing mission types for a dozen times, THE END. Or, you simply continue with the repetition loop and shoot down another 400 skimmers or travel to the faaaaaaaar far out star systems that are more or less exactly the same that you saw already (proc. generation) and make the rest of what's missing up in your head. Sorry, it's 2016, not 1984, I expect far more gameplay than that ... We've generated a time sink and grind loop for you, ähmmmmm, .... BUT .... heheh .... Blaze your own trail.

It's like I paint a spaceship on a piece of paper and say, make the rest up yourself, just ... use your imagination.

Sorry folks, if it makes your brain itchy if someone criticises your beloved game. But it lacks gameplay. Face it or not, I don't care.

UPDATE (Platet Coaster): Just read the Gamestar review for Planet Coaster. Guess what? The test was ok but the main ciricism was the missing gameplay. Maybe it's a FDev specific problem. The game looks great and has great detail and ... but ... QUOTE: "Auf der anderen Seite steht aber kaum Spiel. Ich hoffe Frontier Developments bessert auf der spielerischen Seite noch erheblich nach."

Which means (free translation): On the other hand there's almost no GAME(play). I hope Frontier Developments will heavily improve the gameplay element.

Ziggy, old Space Hulk, you'll not getting me out of this forum by continuing posting this all the time. : ) It's like the game, a constant repetition [noob]

Working fine and as intended; as an option to jumping back and forth.

I just finished my trip to Colonia, in my combat fitted, engineered, 20.9Ly Corvette. When I got there, I sent a request for my other engineered modules. 64hrs and a total of 69mill. Bought myself a small ship, fitted it with scanners and went exploring. Earned another few millions while waiting for them, and finding quite a few beautiful systems.

As always, don't like it, don't use it

Criticising E: D doesn't "itch my brains", there's a lot to criticise.
But useless whining about some pet peeves (like this thread OP) does. :)

If you don't care, why you're still here?
Ah, you're just trolling the forums, that's the game for you...?

I'm 100% behind the op on this. Costs and tranfer times are too high by a factor of 2 I'd say.
Why does it take the computer so long to send my ship? I'm able to make any trip approx 4 times quicker than the ai sending my ship.

And quite frankly the op is right about ftl super cruise, I recently returned from a 45000 ly round trip, which took about 16 hrs of play time and of those 16 hours, 10hours were spent looking at a loading screen.
That is not an exaggeration.
I spent 15-20 seconds scooping and charging ftl per system and 40-45 seconds were spent in ftl waiting for the next system to load.

i can only aggree with you, not gonna spend 7 milion to transfer my corvette 100ly.
Of course everyone here is telling you to shut up coz they fly FDL that costs few bucks to transfer.

Dont get put off by apologists in this forum, everyone sensible who tried to transfer big ship knows its not worth it by any means, since when are 5 jumps worth 7 milion ?

I voted for delay aswell, but was expecting short one and not these ridiculous prices for anything bigger than python

If you can afford a 'Vette and are doing anything worth while, the cost is negligible.

Xferred my FDL twice over 500LY, for about 4 million a go in order to get to CZs I wanted to do stuff at.

Tooled around in Courier figuring out what CZ was what while the FDL was on the way.

Made transport costs back in less than 30 minutes.

If you're not making enough money in a Vette to pay for transport to the CZ, I have no idea what is going on.

Possible solution for you? Stargates maybe?

If yes, I insist on having Richard Dean Anderson too.

:D
That would alleviate the problem somewhat.
However I think that ftl should be expanded to be more like regular supercruise, making it interactive.
So basically supercruising through the galactic map with some fancy witchspace graphics. Instead of Fsd max range, youd have fsd max speed.
This would allow you to travel in ftl for as long as your onboard fuel would allow and cut down on the boredom of ftl.
