300 People Missing

Found something interesting at HIP 14479. I went there looking for Unknown Fragments, but also dropped into a few common USS’s to see what was out there.

I entered a typical Degraded Emissions USS and found the largest debris field I’ve seen so far, and five rescue ships, including a rescue Anaconda, which I had never seen before.

The comms chatter went like this (from EDDiscovery log):

USS Type: Degraded emissions detected, USS Threat: 0

From:Rescue One, Message: There were over 300 people on board this thing. You can't tell me none of them made if off the ship before it blew. Keep scanning.,
Channel:npc

From:Rescue One, Message: Rescue One to all vessels. Keep looking until we find out what happened to this ship and the people on it.,
Channel:npc

From:Rescue One, Message: Control, this is Rescue Team 33. Getting some strange readings from the debris. I think this thing blew up from the inside out.,
Channel:npc

After that they cleaned up the various canisters and departed. There wasn’t anything interesting in the debris, just the usual personal effects, components, scrap, etc. No Escape Pods.

So, what happened? Do we have an Alien abduction of 300 people?

The "True Architects of Creation" strike again? I've dropped into similar spots with "Rescue One" repeating similar, if not identical, messages.

Could very well be the same thing that got President Halsey. She said she saw the "True Architects of Creation" during her very lengthy absence. Personally I think this title is self referential to the game developers themselves. If the "creation" is the Elite: Dangerous galaxy then Frontier Developments is the "True Architects" of that creation. I think it is very similar to how Infocom used to refer to their programmers and game developers as the god-like "Implementors".

At risk of sounding like a killjoy, that's just a standard procedurally generated wreck site.

So it seems to me that there's absolutely nothing that can be done at the site of any significance at all until FD update the game. And they've quite happily let all the contributors to this thread spend hours upon hours on wild goose chases, putting untold effort into theories, graphs, maps, interpretations...and it's all going to come down to (SPOILER BASED ON INFO I READ IN THE BETA THREAD)
parking in front of an obelisk with the right item in your SRV's hold.....once FD put that bit in the game.

I really, truly respect the thought and effort you players in this thread put into solving these "mysteries", but why do you bother? Genuine question, I mean no disrespect at all. But you're all giving FD far more respect than they're giving you, when all they can put out is a few codes now and then, and some broken assets, and they'll happily watch you wasting your time on stuff they know isn't in the game and will never be in the game to the level of depth you're all anticipating with your theory crafting.

Or should I be viewing it that you're all having fun theorising anyway, so there's effectively no harm, no foul? In which case I happily doff my cap to you all, and am pleased you're happy :)

All you do is you go to the active obelisks (after you accepted said mission at meene) then you grab a bunch of relics. place 2 or 1 down near an active obelisks then scan the obelisk with your SRV. if it dont work you get a message saying it did not work. if it did you will get a message saying what it is but the actual message is replaced by FD saying we dont want to spoil something that people will know how to figure out when it goes live.it really is half baked

Agree.

But on the flipside implementing a locality mechanism is a good move.

"Discovery" mechanics in the game are woefully lacking, whenever a small technical feature like this is added it opens up the scope for more complex scenarios.

If they continue to add small features like this then we end up with a library of mechanics the designers can use to implement more interactive mysteries.

Think of how many times in the past players were dropping things near other things and wondering if there would be any effect, they've just implemented that.

yeah. i just wish it was more than just "place object" "Scan object"

Anyone else seen the galnet article...
"Ram Tah Breaks his silence.

Decoder algorithm for obelisks created. To be uploaded to all ships that dock in Meene system."

This has appeared on my andriod app, not yet in game? I have docked in meene with no results or messages - will cruise out to the ruins and see if the obelisks are in plain text now....

C

Forget it - it happened yesterday while I was AFK - late to the party as usual....

And now I read
"
Sorry - this has been posted in error. The missions will be in the main game when 2.2.03 goes live - currently planned for the New Year.

EMERGENCY BROADCAST. IN REGARD TO THE RUINS:

This is Gypsy here.

I need the following data as I am extremely limited in connectivity until at least Monday.

Can Someone please post a low resolution shot of all available artefacts at the ruin site. I dare not go to the front page as it will eat my mobile data. I need at least two angles from each object. I am relying on memory at the moment and need those images to confirm.

I then need at least 4 commanders willing to help and discuss something. Please, if you are interested add a friend request if you are not there already.

Im being all cloak and dagger because I am a little unsure. Until I see those images I wont know for certain.

ABOVE ALL. I NEED TO KNOW FROM FD THAT THE RUINS ARE FULLY FUNCTIONAL AND WORKING AS INTENDED. I have to pay 5 bucks each day for internet at the moment and will be real if my free time is worth nothing.

Hopefully I will have full internet next week sometime. Bloody O2.

But from what I have figured out, this is real clever... REALLY CLEVER. KUDOS..!

I presume youy are talking about live? Also these were not taken today, end of October to be precise.

I am not at the site, but can make a trip out if after looking at the images you think it might be worth the time.

From what's in live, they're fully functional. But in terms of the actual content they'll have they're not. I'm also willing to wing up and help out when needed.

They may be functional if there's a way to solve the mystery of the ruins that we still haven't uncovered. They won't be functional with regard to the new way of harvesting data that's be in the next patch but that's a new way of going about it, if indeed there is an "old way" that is in the live build.

There is no weekend on any job involving internetz or networking. If it broke you go fix it.

Unpublishing a galnet article should be a two minute job.
