The Star Citizen Thread v5

One of the main reasons why I support SC back then is that chance to participate in "open"development and to have an access to the ALL pre-alpha and alpha builds.....CIG didn´t promise me "normal" game development, closed doors and secrecy for all of us that are classified later as lower "citizen-class"....So pls. stop with this silly explanations how NORMAL game developments works as we all know it SC&CIG does not belong by any standards in that group in fact SC is still far away from anything we can call a game, and CIG is still far away to become responsible&respected company....

That's the thing originally it was sold as a space-sim with open development. Those guys were thrown under the bus for some kind of weird MMO/FPS thingy with expensive P2W digital crap and some spaceships that fly like an FPS avatar with duck hunt controls. Now we have the same old cycle, flashy trailers no delivery and lots of excuses. I'm sure the next ship sale will go well though.

I.Quality will always be our number one goal. We set out on this journey by looking at the gaming landscape and asking: can we do better? We continue to ask that question about everything we do. As a result, we will ALWAYS extend timelines or re-do features and content if we do not feel they are up to our standards. The freedom to fight for a new level of quality in game development is what crowd funding has allowed us, and we will continue to fight to make sure Star Citizen is the best possible game it can be.

"Our?"

Are you sure you're not astroturfing?

Edit: Seriously dude, with language like this paragraph you are talking like you're paid PR for CIG. "Our"/"we" etc. This is not normal language for a passive backer as a backer doesn't actually do anything.

Unless you're quoting someone else in which case you've been really misleading.

Note: I work with PR people. I am violently allergic to their whole mangling of language. I'm starting to twitch here!

So that is not a list of what they RELEASED, just things CIG have said they done. Odd how so many of those contradict each other, and remember when the monthly reports were saying that Star Marine was releasing soon, ya that was years ago.
So do you have a list of what they released? Like he asked.

Thing's don't "contradict" lol, things change in game development. Priorities change, tech changes etc. Besides Levsky landing zone (Nyx System) work was showcased in the gamescom demo and is indeed content of the 3.0 patch. We got GrimHex Pirate Station in Crusader that acts has place for pirates/unlawful players.

Detailed lists of what was released by CIG throughout the year of 2016 are available on the patch notes list.

January 15th - Patch 2.1.0
March 4th - Patch 2.2.0
March 26th - Patch 2.3.0
June 9th - Patch 2.4.0
August 25th - Patch 2.5.0

All it's there to see and play, just the task of making a ship the size of the Starfarer flyable and playable is an amazing feat by itself, and Caterpillar is next in line of the small "big" ships.

Might want to re-read my post slowly has I clearly mention my sources "From CIG production schedule page report:" and provide a link in the end of the citation "https://robertsspaceindustries.com/schedule-report".

The fact that CIG can't finish anything is the point.

Right, so CIG has released next to nothing in the last year. You didn't link anything that contradicts this.

You seem to be easily 'amazed'. Personally, I can't think of a single reason why the size of a ship makes the slightest difference when it comes to programming the flight model. It's just numbers...

Well if you read those patch notes and played the game since the 2.0 update until now and you still think that's "next to nothing" let me just say that you just don't understand game development :D

Oh and Starfarer and the Caterpillar are complex not just because of their size lol, it's the fact that has many moving parts/floors/components, damage states and so on. There's a reason you don't see such big complex vehicles being player driven. That's one of the biggest selling points of Star Citizen actually.

It's reassuring to see that CIG have made such technologically simple things as floors, stairs, and lifts completely safe and fully interactive with the players avatar with no danger of urm, interesting and unexpected outcomes.

Really complex artifices with hundreds of such things will of course be absolutely stable.

Let's hope so because I'm not sure there's enough evac pod's for everyone![big grin]

Sorry but no, its because I actually do understand game development. Game development is not a new thing, kind of been happening for decades now. But like someone else said, you seem to be amazed by rather small things. Some of us actually do follow the game and read the patch notes. Not much has changed since its release, well other then the fact that it does not crash every 5 min. So yay progress for that. But no real mechanics have been added, and even functionality has not changed.

No those ships are not complex and add very little to the game.

Floors for CIG is more of a concept then a reality. CIG is also a pioneer in the area of random death, its very funny to watch (well not anymore no one is streaming because of how much game play was added, lol) the streamers edge close to stars, doors, ladders and are scared because they don't know when a random death will happen that will force them to spend the next 10 min running back to their location.

Well then we just have to agree to disagree then. [noob]

There are no "evac pods" in SC.

There's a few in the Starfarer and some other ships.
