"Due to some refactoring of priorities, your reputation point couldn't be delivered to you quite on the deadline that I set myself. But do not worry, there will be hopefully a reputation point coming your way in the near future! Just be sure to have your credit card details and pin number posted to me in private to my email address imacompletescamartist(at)scammersrus.co.uk and a pledge amount of £1000, and I'll working getting you the very best, most fidelity filled, most awesome reputation point you could ever dream to receive!"

;)

Good enough for me. I'll open my wallet and shower you with well-deserved rep.

At this point it is very safe to assume that we don't know actual numbers. Anyway, they will push it publicly next week and will leave 2.6 very next thing next year, because Squadron 42.

Squadron 42? I wonder how far they have progressed with that - especially as CIG have just stated that their primary antagonists are still at the concept stage.

Back in 2012 it was all so simple: Launch from the carrier, blow some alien ships out of the sky, return to the carrier - and various variants of this, with some story narrative in between - the classic mission-based space game we all love.

Agreed - so where is it? Where is our Morrow Tour? Where is our Bishop Speech? Where is, urm, any of it?

Make you wonder what they have actually done for the game so far, concept work should have been finished at the end of 2014 early 2015 at the latest if they were going to hit the 2016 deadline. This gaem look like it won't be arriving in 2017 either.

They stated that the AI isnt even close to finished, and that basic things like pathfinding are in a very, very rough state (which is why there is only pvP with low number of people possible). Normally that kind of stuff should be finished way before a year from release. Considering the art work, basic game mechanics and even fundamentals like AI aren't finished, not even for one part of one level, its a fair guess they wont get that into a rough alpha shape in one year for an entire package of missions. That would put it in summer 2018 at the earliest. The trilogy would then end around holidays 2019, with SC releasing somewhere in 2020. At that point the engine will be eight years old, and would require a NASA computer to even come close to what your iPad16 can do.

So what have they been doing all this time? :)

Exactly what I was about to ask.

ETA - I mean with all those people, all that money and all that time - you have to make a serious effort to be so far behind and in such a bad state. It's way beyond a simple case of misfortune(s).

Its like me when I was in school and I was dodging making important school project that was too big for me- I constantly talked how great it will be, and I was showing some "concept arts". Eventually presentation time was coming closer and I was delaying hell out of it making great excuses "its so massive I need more time".
The end of story is not fun.

*Mod hat off

Demos for shows and conventions and ship sales. Oh, and transparency. They have been doing lots of transparency.

So the general consensus is CIG are just working mainly on concepts and a little on actually developing this all encompassing vehicle shooter. Do they think people will just keep buying into the concept until they eventually get around to releasing something. Diverting their efforts towards art assets and demos just seem counter productive.

Chris Roberts is going to end up in more difficult position than Sean Murray. I hear Sean Murray is afraid of attending expos and conventions, just in case someone demands justice.

What does your heart tell you?

Thus far, people throwing money at concepts for the past few years, thinking it will make the game get finish faster without creating engineering debt on at least one front, is one of the more sickening and heartbreaking truths about this project.

the vanduul ship is unbelievable amazing.
i felt chills on my spine during the vanduul trailer

maybe the winter will come earlier on StarCitizen rather that on Elite ? :D

Catching up with the thread & new videos / monthly report.

Had to skip the livestream but seen the main videos and the Vandull ship is looking very very nice, I hope we can go inside it in some Squadron42 mission somehow.

2.6 release to PTU should mean it's only days away from Live release to all the citizens so hoping for some fps shooting action throughout the Christmas for a change of pace. [big grin]

Eager to see some Flight model and Star Marine feedback in the next days or

Probably already posted but the November Monthly Report is up: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/15637-Monthly-Studio-Report

If there's any questions regarded "What has CIG been working on", well just check the monthly reports :)

Nice Fan-made video from 2.6

That's the problem - nothing they have proclaimed in their "monthly reports" has ever actually arrived in a meaningful way ;)

For example:

Network Services Manager Paul Vaden and IT Director Mike Jones spent time in LA with IT Manager Dennis Daniel in order to prepare for the November Live Stream event. For this live stream event, the IT team coordinated to build and deploy 12 gaming class systems that were used in the head to head matchups between Team Anvil and Team Aegis. Additionally, the IT team built a new live streaming solution capable of switching and mixing all players into the live stream plus cameras. Overall, it was an incredibly rewarding project, but the real credit goes to the video production team for pulling off a great show.

They went on to do great work :D
