I'm not sure why you're trying to dance around this and make excuses for CIG, but whatever...
I think you'll find that I'm not confused about this at all. You cannot purchase or rent ships with in-game credits for use in the persistent universe. This has nothing to do with progression (or the lack of it), instead it is about CIG restricting access because if they offered this capability it would simply eat into their sales.

It doesn't matter if you don't want to go by "what everyone says". The common sentiment is that skipping content by virtue of paying real world money is pay to win, especially when that gives the payee a significant advantage over someone who doesn't pay.

See I can't agree with this. If you were to find the fastest way in-game to go from an Aurora to a Constellation then fair play to you, that's a gameplay choice but paying to make that leap is not a gameplay choice, that is using real world affluency to affect in-game content.

No, because they have played the game to earn their stripes, it's in-game achievements that are important, not real world achievements affecting your in-game character.

This is of course your opinion and I respect your view. I can only tell you what the facts are, and the fact is that the PU is no where close to being done will all progress wipe constantly so purchasing anything there is useless. there also wasn't even persistence in the PU until a couple months ago.

Not within the Star Citizen community.

That is your opinion and the Star Citizen community disagrees with you.

Haha I thought you didn't go by "most people say X" definitions and dismissed it as liberal drivel!

I backed SC, Genuine Roberts owes me a game - so I am part of the Star Citizen community, and I don't disagree at all :D

I didn't back but I've got an RSI forum account, that makes me part of the Star Citizen community as far as exaggerating backer numbers goes. And I also agree with Zetta wholeheartedly.

You don't give money to CIG, you buy on the grey market none of that money is helping development.

CCUs are common place within the CIG store front, you can purchase these CCUs at anytime and rare ones during big sales. Melting ship packages is also common place.

This is how grey market works - I buy a ship when its on sale and melt it right away to put those funds toward another ship while that melted ship sits on my account. I then put that melted ship up for sell on the grey market usually for a marked up price when that ship is not available in the CIG store. The average mark up can be from 20 to 30 dollars. You then sell that grey market ship and use the sale money to unmelt the ship you have on your account. Either way you look at it you must use funds to unmelt that ship. CCUs can be used the same way, they use upgrade from commonly sold ships to upgrade to more rare ships for a low price, either way you must own the first ship in order to upgrade it.

By your view each grey market transaction is 100% profit. That is incorrect.

Buy low sell high with a reasonable profit margin.

I have bought 3 ships on the grey market when they were not on sell thru the store. Once a ship is about to become flight ready like the Starfarer, history has shown that the ships go up in price, so buying them at concept can be seen as a " good deal".

How is it pay to win?

There are in game weapons and ships that can only be used thru the cash shop, they are not available thru in game currency only cash shop currency.

I would not give money to a game without something I see as value in return. The amount of money I give CIG is imo worth the value I believe I am receiving in return.

I fail to see how anybody can get $3000 worth of value, when you can buy the game for what, $60?

Yeah I'm not gonna listen to the community about whether or not its pay to win, people who've chucked thousands at pictures of ships are not well equipped for critical thought.

It's gonna be funny to see what impact selling spaceships for real cash money is going to have if the game actually ever develops beyond a broken vertical slice. The economy is wrecked before it even starts, and they've got the option of either annoying the mega whales who've funded this fiasco or annoying the regular people who they're gonna need to sell more copies of the game.

I would love to see your post on the RSI account proclaiming your unhappiness toward the current ship sales? Thats goes for everyone here saying they are unhappy with this income structure as Star Citizen backers.

If you have not even bothered letting your voice heard about the subject I am going to assume its not a big deal.

Thats the limit of your value toward the game.

My voice has obviously been heard, and you've answered. How does popping on over to RSI's stasi style criticism free hugbox effect that ?.

I object!
I leave it up to you to figure out which of the three i am ;)

Can I pick "all of them" ?.
