No. They're developing one game, with a special single-player campaign sidetrack to get more out of both the engine and the art assets, much like you see from the likes of DiCE and Infinity Ward/Treyarch.

…and was stopped in 2012. It was then restarted, with a new engine and an attempt to salvage what content their could and turn that into a new and pretty much unrelated game.

"They're developing one game, with a special single-player campaign sidetrack"

As you seem to have a lack of understanding of the project I cannot debate your misconceptions.

Just ignore the 30 game list I linked, yeah, its much better to focus on .5% of the subject. This thread is great for Star Citizen backer morale, so therapeutic.

Does it? How?

i will leave it to you to figure that out.

22nd is slowly incoming this side of Europe - any news bits about PTU updates (l was yesterday) and/or release schedule updates? Just curious. Status quo is lots of crashing bugs and errors still happening for all parts of update right?

To be fair after bouncy radar videos and few minutes of gameplay I saw I am pretty bored on SC. Fair to say though I have never enjoyed that kind of gunplay/FPS style, so just might be not my bag of peas.

You make it sound like a good idea to develop 4 interdependent (mini) games from scratch with no experienced team and no underlying engine.

Don't forget whilst thinking it can be done with 'just' $140m. Impossible. 0 to AAA is real hard, never mind trying it with a clueless leader and an engine unfit for a MMO.

What misconception?

The subject was that you tried to use FFXV as an example of… something, even linking the article on the development process, apparently without considering what that article actually said: that FFXV is not a good example of a well-managed project, or about the actual timeline of the game that was eventually released.

i will leave it to you to figure that out.
So you can't actually explain yourself?

What's the deal with SC reappearing? Is it just to avoid a lawsuit, or have they actually gone back to their original aim of a few years ago to use it as a test bed?

No need to. CIG are building the game in the order CR feels is the best order. His order of building said game may not agree with alot of people but I think thats the point of him building his game his way (mistakes and all, delays and all) and others building theirs.

You missed the point.

He said it was dishonest so I and others offered him an opportunity to show exactly how it was dishonest - but so far that opportunity seems to have been missed.

Therefore we can conclude he doesn't really think it was dishonest.

None of your reply addressed the dishonesty accustaion so we can also assume you don't think it was either.

Sorry I don't discuss goon related material outside of SA as I'm from the opinion that "pigs should keep their playtime in the mud" and not bring it "outside".

For sanity sakes [big grin]

So, you admit that the graph is entirely accurate and you actually have no valid arguments to set against it. Glad we cleared that up!

"Experienced team"

people with actual relevant experience in bold

Chris Roberts - Producer and designer of Wing Commander series in the early 90s, got kicked out by Microsoft for his mismanagement of Starlancer in 2000, never touched a game since.

Erin Roberts
- Studio director for the LEGO game franchise from 2007 to 2013 (A ton of experience with managing a studio's bussiness, hasn't actively worked on the production side of things since 2003).

Tony Zurovec - A literal nobody, did some forgotten games in the DOS era, quit the industry in 1996. (This guy is the PU director...)

Eric Kieron Davis
- Very experienced cinematic producer with some serious credits for game cinematography and film. (I.e. Top-tier talent for SQ42, no relevant experience for SC the MMO)

John Erskine - Another nobody, customer support for City of Heroes/Villains, QA/Customer support for Guild Wars: Factions.

Brian Chambers
- Developer for Crysis 3, senior producer on Ryze: Son of Rome and art director on a couple WWE games. (Again a great fit for the SQ42 project, less so for the MMO)

Notice how none of these people have any relevant design skills and, with the exception of Erin, are all specialised in the cinematographic side of games.
Also notice how none of them ever worked on the production side of MMO titles.

...Yeah this lot would make me confident in CIG's ability to handle a project of this nature and to effectively manage the industry talent they employ.

Being that CIG are developing 2 full games and 2 mini games within a game (AC, SM) and when looking at the history of game development I would say they are right on track.

The development cycle of Final Fantasy XV began in 2006, when it was a PlayStation 3-exclusive spin-off titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which lasted approximately ten years.

Except the fact that CR took my money in 2012 and clearly said it will deliver the game in 2014.

The post was finished with "progress" in question not taking in the fact that in game development average time and the amount of time spent on new technology developed by CIG. (Cry Enigine 64bit) Maybe more disingenuous but the point is the same.

[Helicopter hovering above]

This just in...A DOUBLE, I say DOUBLE Dare has been issued here in Bumbleduck. This is an unprecedented occurrence in our current era.

More live coverage and analysis tonight after The Bachelor.

If only you'd applied that before you commented on it outside of SA we could have avoided this tedious exchange.

You're not very good at this internet arguing thing are you?
