Frontier. Please make a PVE mode to this game.

Why do you have to dislike anybody? This constant seeking of people to hate is what gets SDC and the wider PvP community its bad name.

It may be related to how PvP players are being treated around like. You know, calling them reallife psychopaths, wannabe murderers, degenerates, and all that. Espescially when you are called that just because some dude on a different continent you never heared of or met did something to someone else you never heared of in a computer game. Tends to sour the mood a bit.

I have so much difficulty following the logic of some here.

"All polls show PvE is preferred here!"
"Thats because there are more PvE players on this forum."
"No, this forum is dominated by PvP players!"

:S

"PvE mode is crucial, look at the 40k Mobius members!"
"Thats actually not that much..."
"Stop using the Mobius numbers!'

:S

"We need an Open PvE mode because Open is filled with dangerous griefers and gankers!"
"Which is why FD is considering offering more rewards in open to compensate for the increased risk."
"! Open isnt that dangerous at all, the vast majority of the bubble is completely as in Solo/PG!"

:S

Humans logical? Isn't that mutually exclusive?

Frontier have confirmed that the majority of players do not get involved in PvP.

Every Forum poll on the subject has been in favour of Open-PvE (the latest had 895 votes) - and Forum polls have been shown to accurately represent an off-forum official poll in the single occasion that one was held.

For some players, any unwanted PvP is too much - why should they require to play in a restricted population game mode?

Why be reactive though? All such behaviour leads to is an escalation of the divisions within the player base. There are certainly PvErs who attack PvPers for being sociopaths and lowlifes, and there are just as many PvPers who attack PvErs for being care-bears who need a safe-space. People are like this in every game community, and given the niche nature of Elite: Dangerous I would expect that most people here have been active on the forums of other games before and seen all of this happen over and over again. Rising to the bait is just sad: as you say, you've (the Royal You) never met these people, and never will, why drop to their level? It won't achieve anything except a self-enforcing echo chamber of hate that solves nothing.

Okay, so far so good. I make that around 148728. Now how many of those members actually own and play Elite? And what size is the player base? I'll concede that the majority of players have not registered on this forum. But the vast majority? No, until you can give a supportable figure for the player base I'm going to contest that description.

The PvP players keep starting threads so the forum pages are dominated by PvP players demanding new victims or offering to explain to everyone else how we should play the game. The PvP players keep complaining the only reason PvE always wins the polls is because there are more PvE players. Not confusing.

The Mobius numbers are a guide to how many have actually gone to the effort of finding a separate group to escape it. They are not indicative in any way of the size of the PvE population, just that a large number have been desperate enough to actively hunt down a group. Not confusing.

People disagree in shocking news. Our report at 10.

Which, in turn, may be related to how those players treat others in-game - disregarding the play-style preference of the target in pursuit of "fun" (that may well not be "fun" for the target).

The forums are dominated with PvPers

An interesting question arises: how many of those who enjoy PvP enjoy engaging in PvP situations where they're not in a combat ship built for PvP? In other words, how many people enjoy being a victim?

*ahem*

Sorry but this surely has gone beyond any level of comedy.

People get upset when they lose - this is normal, this is human. Then folk like Rinzler post stuff like that..........

This is why PvPers/SDC/etc get no sympathy - you demand it.

How many of those who show up in open do so with insufficient shields and tactics? Seems like if they do that they want to be a victim.

Some players dont mind PvP, but dont like it when other players can have supermodded cutters attack Sideys. Why should they be forced to be play in a restricted population game mode?
Some players dont mind PvP, as long as there is a clear in-game reason. Why should they be forced to be play in a restricted population game mode?
Some players dont blabla. Why should they be forced to be play in a restricted population game mode?

The reason why you should play in a restricted poulation game mode (which is, bwt, a choice, noone forced PG on anyone) is because, as you put it so succintly earlier, these are the game modes you get to pick from. I can understand why everyone wants FD to make a special game mode for their preferred ruleset, but I am sure you can also work out why that is unlikely to happen. Which is also why FD has suggested a few ways to reward Open, and plays with ideas for C&P in Open, but has not proposed any Open PvE mode.

An interesting question arises: how many of those who enjoy PvP enjoy engaging in PvP situations where they're not in a combat ship built for PvP? In other words, how many people enjoy being a victim?

I for one dont fly PvP ships at all. And when I start going Ape on my second account I will do that in small ships.

I'd like a PVE server too.

I'd also like to see then how the pop of the old PVP one compares to the pop of the new PVE server.

More 'git gud' arguments, joy of joys.

Well, why I hate the common 'git gud' condescending attitude, 'getting good' is the basic premise of Elite. From the very first elite to the last, with all the novels, short stories, in-game diaries and everything, it has been made perfectly clear: you are responsible for your survival, and if you just randomly do stuff you'll die. If you are greedy and dont use shields and armor, you may die. If you just go from A-B in a straight line without checking radar in SC, you may die. If you just boost and jump after being interdicted, you may die. If you point at everyone and everything without looking in the mirror, you'll probably die.

Thats simply the core of Elite. Noone would play the original and say "screw shields" and then complain about being killed. You use your brain and think, you plan, you pay attention and you learn to fly. Thats what Elite is supposed to be about. Often when some 'victim' posts a vid its like a parody of how to be the worst trader ever. Yet hordes of people show up and demand someone else does something about it. "Having a family and a life' is no reason not to occassionally check your radar. or, you know, actually move your ship when being attacked. Or put a shield on your trader even if it costs a percentage of your cr/hr. Nobody forces you to blindly stumble through anarchy/lowsec. It is so amazingly incredible super-easy to take care of yourself at some point it really is valid to say:"mate, get better."

I was going to reply to that comment but you've already done it in much more detail than I would have ❤️
