Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

just had a thought for the so far useless relics, what if they are soem kind of power source(solar panels? power pylons?) has anyone tried to get all of them up at the time see if it changes anything? i think it's skeptical considering how they appear randomly placed and not in some sort of sequence/preetermined locations, if they where a powersource/relay of sorts wouldn't of been placed around the outskirts of the ruins or at each group of obilisks as that would make more sense then, so just a wild guess i suppose but if anyone can try it might be interesting

Frontier seem to have adopted the name this thread gave to them, which was purely based on the name of the update.

Pretty sloppy! Ram Tah wouldn't know the name of the latest patch and any real scientist would be laughed at for instantly assuming a complex role for these total unknowns. "The Builders" or "Ancients" something else neutral gives space for doubt and question, for people to wonder. Like this they've half-confirmed half their future story at patch launch then lost the chances to roll it back a step and keep it more interesting.

The messages are often unreliable. In the vast majority of cases I don't get the success message until the following scan, which could confuse things enormously. The most reliable indicator is actually watching your reward in the mission screen. Check that immediately after each scan to see if it goes up.

The reason I asked, unlocking more obelisks may be dependant on correctly scanning other obelisks firsts. In order to try more than once, we'd need feed back. There's also an idea going around scanning the ancient relics with certain items might activate/reactivate obelisks.

If any of you are using chrome right now and are on this page on the fourms. do CTRL+U and type "Searching"

Nice find!

Not convinced - CMDR Eugen Bold (above) talks about hanging around in solo for an hour (respect!) without seeing anything interesting and last night I didn't get any disconnects and didn't see anything special happen (admittedly I was relogging a lot). Something must be happening in open that activates the different obelisks, but I'm not convinced it's time based.

Yeah, going back to my earlier theory of the number of people present. I had a couple people show up and the pattern changed quite dramatically.
then they left and it almost instantly changed pack to normal without having a disconnect.

But the UAs/UPs, which look very organic, don't look like they belong to a race fascinated with geometric shapes. Are we sure they're related?

Assuming yes they are, then perhaps we should look for two systems that form, with the currently-found one, an equilateral triangle, with all sides having a distance of 3 or a multiple of 3, from each other. So, any system that is 3, 6, 9, 27, etc. light years away from Synuefe XR-H D11-102 is a potential candidate :p (although this is a very shaky basis for searching)

Why would aliens use units based on the time it takes Earth to orbit the sun?

This is very interesting.

And it makes the "Totem" quite relevant. I would suggest that the "Totem" has something to do with the "Towers" (As they are both "Towers")

Here is an excerpt from this page: read:http://wonderopolis.org/wonder/what-is-a-totem-pole

"Totem poles are sculptures carved from large trees, such as the Western Red Cedar. In North America, totem poles are part of the cultures of many indigenous peoples of Alaska, British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest. Totem poles serve many purposes beyond their beauty, and their meanings are as varied as the cultures that make them.
Some totem poles represent stories or important events. On these poles, each figure on the totem represents part of a story. These totems are used as a way to record the history and legends of the tribes.
Figures on a totem pole are not gods to be worshipped. Instead, they represent traits and characteristics each clan or story embodies.
There are many other types of totem poles. Genealogy poles are erected in front of a family's home to represent the owner's clan or social status. Memorial poles are carved in honor of a deceased clan member. Mortuary poles are also raised in honor of the dead and include a small compartment for the ashes of the deceased. (EDIT by OP - Look familiar?)
Another interesting type of totem pole is the shame pole. Shame poles are carved to embarrass and ridicule someone who has done something wrong."

What interests me here is the idea of "Various stories"

Perhaps we can somehow use the "Totem" in conjunction with the "Towers" to activate other "Stories" (Obelisks)? Rather like moving on to the next data set...

What do you guys think?

Gyp.

Edit:

To add to this from the front page:

It seems:
Orb - Technological Data (Epsilon)
Casket - Historical Data (Gamma)
Tablet - Language Data (Delta)
Urn - Biological Data (Alpha)

Totem - Cultural Data (Beta)
Cultural Data contains every aspect of a Culture - Technological, Historical, Language and Biological data.

EDIT 2: Possible Clue:

"This data contains details regarding the rise of new technologies. It appears that the development of these technologies varied between clans, creating inequality and, ultimately, conflict. Initially, that conflict was resolved through personal combat between individual champions, but as clans started using numbers to overwhelm their opponents, the practice of warfare began to spread. This led to a surge in weapons development, with biological warfare quickly established as the weapon of choice. An arms race began, focused on the development of biological agents and various counter measures. It saddens me to discover this as I had hoped the Guardians would prove to be more advanced. A little naive I know as conflict is a common element of many species throught the galaxy. Wheather for resources, land or power over others. We all seem to share this shame."

Or another way of looking at it:

"This data contains details regarding the rise of new technologies. It appears that the development of these technologies varied between clans, creating inequality and, ultimately, conflict. Initially, that conflict was resolved through personal combat between individual champions, but as clans started using numbers to overwhelm their opponents, the practice of warfare began to spread. Biological+Shame = Urn+Totem

Totally sounds like intentional behaviour!

Just thought I'd share these two, geometric patterns and all that. These are engraved on the various pillars which hold the outer perimeter walls and such up.

Tessalation is core in basic geometry. Any race that draws geometries will eventually dish out tessalation and equalateral triangles and squares are amongst the most common shapes used. If we start making things relevant because triangles were going to get all illuminati up in here

Cant deny the other aspects though. And in reality, there are few cultures that actually use tessellation nowadays. Plus to add to it, the Recent activists in America the pipeline could have been inspiration for the FD team. Good lord, the Totem practically screams similarities here.

Please - if anyone feels tired of hunting new data packs, go for a hyperdiction.
It seems that it has not been tested yet what happens if you are hyperdicted with Ram Tah decoder and ancient ruins data onboard!

Your avatar must be native american.

Actually I can. Besides the tesselation, everything else doesn't match. Even the pyramid patches are inconsistent with counts of triangles we're seeing. There's too much still unknown about the ruins themselves to be focused on old rugs and tapestries
