Can anyone compile the average number of scans before a server kick/disconnect? I was averaging 5 failed scans per "kick". (I only call them that cause it seems to appear like a brute force detection)

Managed to get successful decode message for 14 out of 15 - cannot solve the last one!!!

Using the map numbers here; http://i.imgur.com/BPNuFwq.png

Below are my successful decodes but cannot figure #2 Damn thing!!!!

Crib keys;
R = Relic, C = Casket, O = Orb, U = Urn, To = Totem, Ta = Tablet

1 = C (8/21)
2 = C ?
3 = C+U (10/21)
4 = O (12/21)
5 = O (7/20)
6 = U+R (7/19)
7 = O+R (7/19)
8 = To (7/19)
9 = Ta (11/21)
10 = Ta+R (14/21)
11 = Ta+O (12/21)
12 = Ta+R (x/xx)
13 = Ta (8/21)
14 = U (10/20)
15 = R (14/21)

Spent quite some time at the ruins, and got the usual 13 data points unlocked.
However most of mine were from different obelisks than shown on the spreadsheet so far. I was in Solo only.

The item combinations were correct, just different obelisks gave me data.

Also, the 'grouping' wasn't always the same. Obelisk 9 seemed to be grouped with 6 and 7 for me, for example.

I mostly ignored the spreadsheet with regard to obelisk numbers and grouping, and just used the item combos.

Also, I've done a short video explaining the mission, and how to do it, for anyone that might find it helpful.

So this almost certainly won't help anyone else, but I have a device with an eInk screen ("eCarta" actually) which can stay turned on with no battery loss with screen on versus screen off (since it's not using any power to maintain the screen itself as long as the image isn't changing.) Almost all of these are still grayscale right now (color is possible -- I own a Pebble Time which uses an always on color screen of this same type that can go around almost a week between charges since the screen requires almost no power to actually maintain -- but I don't really know of any large screen ones with color and they'd still have a very limited range anyway,) mine included, so I made a modified version of this in grayscale and filtered (a bunch of filters really, but also cropped since they also tend to be low resolution) a bit to make it hopefully a little easier to see. Anyway, I'll just put it here in case it is of any use to anyone at all. (I can't upload here because in the interest in keeping it minimal I made it palette based and apparently the uploader here doesn't follow official PNG specifications and makes assumptions such as that it is not palette based or something, insisting that it is not a valid image even though it is 100% standard according to specifications. Something the site maintainers should work on IMO.) Probably won't be useful to anyone, but, there you go.

I've no idea if someone has thought of this already, that long vertical mound the magnetic launcher? also the layout reminds me of an instrument, say like a compass.

So...
Landed at site (in mobius) with 13 scans.
Went to make tea and eat stuff.
Came back half an hour later I now have 20 scans :) awesome lol.

Seriously though, it messed up my careful planning, but hey ho, free scans and money.

As there are apparently a total of 101 scans, is that significant? It is Prime ... if a large black and red ship appears piloted by CMDR Cruella Deville, then better make a run for it.

Am in Mobius right now with quite a large number of players - and the place is lighting up like a christmas tree. Almost seems like as soon as one obelisk is scanned, another is lighting up.

Hi all,

Regarding CMDR Zenith's observation (see the submission spreadsheet, sheet #2) about certain ancient artifacts not giving a "Please forgive my intrusion" message and possibly "unlocking" those monoliths for other scannables, I can confirm for the red area that those obelisks do not produce an "error" message. I scanned all of them out of personal interest with the casket and noted which ones did and did not give an error message. After checking his hypothesis on the spreadsheet, I did another lap around the site again and can confirm none of the red obelisks give an error for the casket. However, as it appears to take ages for an obelisk to become rescannable, I cannot test to see if it will accept other combinations of scanning.

I do plan to go into open once I have all 13 of the typical data points (11 so far), but I want to put it out there that it might be worth testing CMDR Zenith's hypothesis. :) For ease of access, here is the spreadsheet (from the front page) - check tab 2 for the hypothesis. Happy testing!

I found Zenith's map 100% accurate and the key to solving the whole thing- the only time I thought it wasn;t accurate is because of the message lag bug which means you sometimes get the messages from Ram Tah one scan after you are meant to.

Stick with Zenith's map for efficiency!

Yes we do.

Thargoids are known all female.

"Guardians" described as being two-gendered much like us.

Still unclear at all why they're "Guardians" and not just "the ruins aliens" as there's zero whatsoever to suggest any kind of guarding behaviour or nature or anything about them so far which is rather sloppy plotwise.

How about guardians of knowledge? just thought I'd put that out there, it's easy to presume something like guardians against an enemy, humans often do.

I just figure that its a 100 million reward and we get 1 million per data block + bonus.

If that is the case its a bit immersion breaking because how could the mission give know that there are 101 data blocks to collect.

Could it be that, if you scan one of the 15 default obelisks with the base-item (see: http://i.imgur.com/BPNuFwq.png ) + relic, will unlock a new one in the group? It happened now 3 times to me. (Or could be random shenanigans other people in the instance did)

So how many scans is the most collected from the site so far? Is it high time we started looking for these other ruins?

AFAIK there has been collected 36 different entries, though not by the same cmdr. They are all in the 7-15 range, so while someone figures out how to systematically get them all on a single cmdr, others could be spending time looking for the other sites. Any clues where to start?

Yesterday in the Merope system, I went into a USS with degraded signals. It was full with the biggest wreckage field I have so far encountered, and some rescue ships. They said things like that it was the biggest wreck they had seen as well, that 300 people died and they were surprised no one got to an escape capsule. Further canisters of personal effects and some other stuff I forgot. Pity I seem to have misclicked when I thought I made a screenshot.
Altogether I got the impression of a very big ship torn into many rather small pieces very suddenly, as if by a bigger force than any common pirate.
