this is an awesome write up.

You know you forgot one other thing. The thargoid were at war with more then just one other species, this was said many many times. So many these lizard people could be one of them? Also we know the thargoids are controlled by queen(kind of like ants)
i dont think humanity has seen that yet. And i dont think we've seen the rumored AI race yet, and if we did oh man that will be the day E:D player unite

I only covered the things that have been directly mentioned in Elite Dangerous. this time. :)

On the so called Data Bleed:
-2 Days ago I scouted the alien ruins and got at least 2 of each alien items, and I put them in the cargo of my ship, without making any scan at the obelisks, so I had not data at the moment.
-Last night i decided to start scanning with 2 friends. I joined them on site and while they were already scanning, I was descending from the planet orbit. As soon as I got out of glide I started receiving messages of successful scans. Almost every single scan that my wing mates were performing on the site, as I was approching, was awarding me with a correct scan, even if they were receiving failed scan messages on their own account.

My explanation is this: while in a wing (or maybe just near anothe pilot) each time someone performs a scan, each member of the wing is considered performing a scan on its own, but since i had every possible object combination in my cargo hold I was always getting a successful scan.
After a few scans, the "success rate" started to drop: I suppose this is due to the fact that the actual archeological site is not the only one in the galaxy, and it can only give a portion of the available data (Ram Tah: "Please explore as many ancient sites as you can find.").
So every time that a scan is successful, you get the message only if it's a data entry that you don't already possess... the more you possess the more difficult it became to find a new one.

Then we decided to take turns: 2 of us were staying on the ship with all the alien object inside the cargo hold, and the third one was runnning around scanning every obelisk in the site. Doing this we all got to 11-13 successful scan very rapidly, then the probability of finding a new scan started to drop.

What do you think? Is someone out there eperiencing the same behaviour? Could this be "as intended" or some kind of bug?

I just finished a quick and dirty version for the hyperdiction map, stripped my GalaxyViewer and feeded it with M. Volgrands spreadsheet.
I guess there is still too few data available to make conclusions, but the hotspots for hyperdiction seem to be Maia and Merope.. what surprise!

Unfortunatly, for unknown reasons (most probably Thargoid), i could not get the app running in a browser so you have to download the app from dropbox.
It's a Unity app and Windows only.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/5ti04jfq4taqji3/ED_HyperdictionHistory.zip?dl=0

You can easily update the hyperdiction data from Volgrands spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...89qQIDJMTwilE2dRXnjoC_GIOs/edit#gid=813399241), just export it as .tsv and save it in ED_HyperdictionHistory_Data\special\Hyperdictions.tsv

You can use the slider at the bottom to see how the hyperdictions occur over time.

ohh.. and i am a little drunk.. so bugs probably incluided ;)

cheers,

This is truly fantastic, thank you so much! At work now but I'll try to give a boost to the alien hyperdiction data gathering tonight. I see there are other spreadsheet options that are working better than mine in regards of the alien ruins -probably is time to close that one.

cheers!

PS: Happy hangover :D

Has anyone found anything, other than geometric anomolies, relating these ruins to soontill? i have nothing better to do so im on my way out there. the puzzle is interesting, but with all the crashing my game did out there, i figure i'll do some outside work.

I got a decode 10/20 talks about guardian ships bring inferior to ours but their weapons, and other tech outmatched ours. Dunno where to report this or if it's new. Only have mobile devices and the spread sheet is difficult to read on it.

Can you get a data entry by placing relics around the Obelisk without them being in your SRV ??

not sure but i will be trying that tonight after work along with a few other things, will write up findings once we finish, might be waiting a while as we will not be online until 7pm GMT

EDIT: thinking about it a little i wonder if having all 6 items in the ship cargo and landing close by the obelisks might be a better option as im not sure it will work with items on the ground but will still check that later.

Saw your reply on reddit. Nice to see this posted here. I hope the main spreadsheet uses this version.

I landed quite close to top left cluster with 2 items in my hold. got out in my srv, empty srv cargo, and was able to extract a message from one the obelisks there (tech 7). Could have been a delayed message, but didnt seem like it.

Right oh, thanks for that, i'll be testing that further then tonight.

Edit: ive not actually had any issues with getting the messages being delayed in PG, we only had 1 crash and that was when we picked up the 14th data set, the person in the ship was the one that crashed out of game.

to me this seems as a consequential feature - if U go exploring in wing U also get the scan data of Your wingmates (upto 1000Ly away btw.) and vice versa.
Hence beeing in wing (and in same instance) getting the scans rewarded (as You have the right combos of materials) to me seems not to be a bug but fullfilling the requirements of the feature.

PS, I was in solo or PG

Agreed, also i thinnk it may be a way for solo players to get the data without having to wing up, if the cargo bleed works when the ship is landed near to the obelisks while you scan in the SRV, as mentioned above i'll be testing that later.

One point in this is not true, me and my pal have managed to get 14 data message in PG each and we did that in just one run each round the site, with only 1 instance reset each at the end of each run.

how we did it, my pal was carrying a casket and relic while i guided him round in my ship, in my ship cargo i had all 6 items from the ruin, while he scanned with the SRV i was getting all the data while he got the odd one or to with right combos, we then swapped place, i scanned while he flew around with all 6 items in cargo, he then got 14 data sets, that worked for us.

However we have yet to unlock any new obelisks other than the known 15, this will be continued tonight in the hopes we can open a few new ones up.

EDTI: oh and the reason we reset the instance at the end of each run was due to the pilot at the time crashing to desktop when the 14th data set was picked up, the SRV driver however was fine and kept the instance open.

2nd EDIT: oh and i was watching a chap stream the other day that was at this site and he seemed to think the reset timer for the site is 2 hours or just over, not sure how much stock in that you should put as i didnt actually see it happen.

So if, as a solo player, I call up my ship, park it in the middle of the ruins, and fill it full of every item (Casket, Tablet, Relic etc) and then scan obelisks, would it have the same effect?

Mmmm, you could well be right but I read "The project also cemented the cooperative city-state model, which would serve the Guardians until their ultimate demise" meant the city-states ended & the Guardians permanently moved out into space. Maybe (definitely) need more coffee while reading this threadnaught, and brandy.

The most basic question I have right now is why did they call themselves the Guardians? What were they or did they think they were guarding?

i think so, a few others posted just above have said it seemed to have worked for them, but i would get the ship right next to where you are scanning, like i said i'll be testing that later but if you have the chance to do it now and post a reply to this i would be very interested.

Is there a Discord or something where I could link up with some people in a wing? I won't be home for a few hours still, but I would like to investigate later.

Do I need to join Canonn first ot join the Discord?

They use glyphs with moving parts.
So... If you move that big arm part of the ruin site one to the right (to the place where there's an open space) then it matches the UP audio graph thing. It also points to a different set of obelisks which seem to be in a deliberate pattern (whether it's meant to look like a UP I don't know).
This might be related to where that site communicates to next. In my head I'm imagining the parts of the ruin site rotating to see if it suggests a map to somewhere.. Knowing our luck it's probably merope :) everything ends up as merope :)

Great work Zebarmy

Just wanted to note you have missed a Tablet. Follow straight down from 'G' to the wall and you will see the small black area indicative of a dirt mound at the site. Further just to follow what many have noted it might be helpful to colour your lettering similar to the zone representations ie. A,G,F,D - Blue (casket colour) etc. For 'E' maybe represent this by colouring the letter half red/half purple, or re-lettering a seperation between the two portions.

Cheers
