SHIP TRANSFER - Way too expensive / Jumping for hours = WASTE of time

Okay, but how about some objective items here:

1. The time is pretty much balanced where the Devs want it, and instant was voted off the island by the community through a poll tied directly to individual active player accounts.
2. The cost now is not only lower than when instant was being contemplated, it is lower than when first released. In fact, it was reduced by 50% in one of the patches.
3. If the game is so horrible that "You only need a single functioning brain cell..." - then why are you still playing and complaining. Otherwise said, don't go away angry, just go away.
4. Before starting a new thread whining about Transfer times/cost, why not use the search funtion and find one of the others as a new thread on this topic every few days has already gotten way past too old.

My 2 cents on this whole kerfuffle

As far as time goes, a simple fix would be to allow players to SEND their ships somewhere, instead of having to fly to the destination first and then have the ship delivered. If I could send my FdL to a combat CG from my home system, it'd be there by the time I arrived in my Anaconda.

As for the money, I've never noticed much of a problem since I usually only transfer my ships a couple hundred LY. Transferring to Colonia should be ridiculously expensive because it is ridiculously far away.

@BryanK -
OK, I concede that this would/might be a good option in the future. The Dev team even hinted that it may be a feature in the future, and I am OK with that. I congratulate you on being dispassionate and straight in bringing the point frward. However (and this is not directed at you Bryan) I feel that the absolute WORST way to achieve this objective is through ranting, demanding, and generally carrying on cranky as you will go farther if the emotions are checked at the door.

And as for the money I totally agree as I just plan my travels with the most expensive ship and then transfer others as needed.

I usually go with something like that too, though not always. When the BH CG ended I already had my Cobra waiting in dock. I wanted to upgrade a size five HRP for my Gunship which I'd been using all CG long. From there to KUK it was about 200 LY. Price of that trip is around 1.5 million (give or take) and about 45 minutes. So I went there in my Cobra, docked at the nearest Orbital and called in my Gunship and took a few available missions. By the time I was done with the missions, the Gunship had arrived and I'd earned the price of the transfer. Did my upgrade, swapped ships again and moved on to my next destination. All worked out, well planned and well excecuted. No time lost and serious convenience gained. I love how they've done it. It adds to gameplay but does not remove any of the previous options. If anything, it adds value to cheaper ships and keeps them relevant in the game. If it were instant and/or cheaper, it would nullify the value of a lot of different ships and builds as well as make the galaxy feel quite a bit smaller.

A major premise for the game is that it takes place in a huge galaxy where getting from A to B over hundreds of lighyears is a long journey. Sorry that you find that boring, but a lot of us players appreciate that aspect.

If you absolutely need to take part in every CG, even if it's on the other side of what is supposed to be a huge expanse of populated space, then by all means outfit a ship better suited for traveling. If you want to project absolute combat power over every corner of populated space, I'm sorry to inform you that it's not possible. There are consequences for choosing a particular ship, and you should not be able to be everywhere, shoot everything and survive everytime. That! would be boring!

I've criticized the game devs on many aspects (yeah FDEV! Engineers still sucks, bigtime bro!) but I cannot criticize them building the largest game world ever experienced to date. [squeeeee]

The problem is not the time it takes to do things but the gameplay in this case TRAVELING that is boring and tedious, it has no significant gameplay weight other than fuel and time spent. Its uninvolved, simple, and a very bad mechanic.

Its nice to see things take time but when its behind a repetitive mindless and simplistic task like pressing 1 button to jump, it takes away all the fun.

RhymeRhyme is right. The games has very VERY crapy game mehcanics.

Its not about instant gratification, its about the journey and the journey sucks.

Then I again point you in the general direction of the door, as you apparently are looking for something entirely different than what you purchased.

Because now you are getting into changing core mechanics (ie Fast Travel) and that is yet another topic that has been Beaten To Death on these forums, and as such does not need to be rehashed in this thread.

Sorry I/we couldn't be of more assistance to you...

Send your ship first then follow? I think not.

How is this particularly different from what we have now?

If I have a Courier and a Corvette and I want my Corvette to be moved to where I think I'll be using it next, wouldn't it make just as much sense to hire whoever is responsible for the transfers at my current location and send them to a destination? No change in cost or time needed, just the ability to send as well as receive.

I know right. What baffles me are the people that voted for the transfer time to be equal of that me going my self! You people are daft.

Is it like my message is jumping there at the speed of a ship? The message gets there and they even wait a little at the station before they start. Then they add a lame pricetag on it as well. As if the game wasnt grindy enough from before.... for me they added a function im never gonna use.

Its ridiculous and outright laughable.

Funny that. I use it often and it's been a serious QOL improvement to my gameplay. That and module storage.

Love the module storage as well. It saved my a** after an expensive ship purchase. Was able to just use previously stored parts and weapons to outfit the ship, head out, make some money, before returning to refit properly.

I appreaciate this feature, and i'm happy the way it works. Money is not an option, time is a calculable factor.
You don't have to use it, just do it the old way.
Someone posted a picture to transfer his Anaconda from the bubble to colonia.....can't remember exactly the transfer time and costs but it was to be expected very high.

Ooooh, the fanboy base. Folks, if you like to waste your time in a useless game loop, fine. This game sucks. Gameplay sucks. Jumping for ages and gigantic grind loops are not gameplay. It s simply a bad game.

Lol you say that like being a fan of the game ON THE OFFICIAL FORUM is a bad thing?

Look i get that the game is subjectively weak in some areas, and there is no arguing the game is far from the DDF and dev diary sales pitch, but IF you really feel this way about the game and not just toy throwing out of pram to let off steam, then why are you still here.

The game will (hopefully) flesh out, things will improve but if you dislike the game so much then you will never like the game, find something you enjoy more.
