I've had a look around 4B, nothing obvious to report although it is possible to line up the moon (4c) with 4.

Hi everybody.
This might seem like a dumb question but on the spreadsheet and on this thread there is mention of getting data from obelisks that are not part of the 15 original active ones. Could someone enlighten me as to how you find these extra ones active ? I was only able to retrieve the 12 data points known that work consistently.

Thanks in advance people !

Which one's the moon? :|

Not easily discernable. May be a general "location" without specific. I'm trying to think of what we "know" and that something should map there... we know the planet, system, moon, geometry, sky & constellations from this location.

Something has to map to this one way or another perhaps.

Another thought that hit me is how much some of the more steep areas seem like channels with the retaining walls maybe having "gates" for water/liquid control. Since somebody's been making a 3d map of this area I wonder what this would look like "flooded" perhaps?

I think his question was which ones the moon out of 4C and 4B, the answer officially i guess is neither but 4C is tidally locked whereas 4B isn't. The both have the same orbital period so both orbit the main body and not each other.

only 15 work reliably and nobody knows how the others are activated. In solo so far you can only activate the 15, it currently seems you need more players to get the rest. The trigger is unknown, but the more players the more chance of seeing the rarer obelisk.

Yeah but the ones activated by new players -seems- to be completely at random, which makes me think that A) it's not part of the actual puzzle or B) it's bugged.

I was wondering whether all 4 obelisks have to be active (obelisks are the ones with the relic on them; unlikely) or whether certain combinations of pillars, once scanned (or have their data successfully scanned and decoded), will unlock other pillars.
That might explain why it appears to be random. Scan results seem to be shared among players so any successful decryption carried out by a player might pair up with that of another player to unlock further pillars.

here are some interesting textures found on the ruins. Could be nothing but you never know.

PS : well, the the website is not allowing me to upload pictures even though they are in the right format and size ... fantastic

You keep stating there are more ruins like it's a fact, and now you claim the engineer Bill Turner is involved? What makes you think so? What makes you think any of this? There isn't any evidence for any of it??? :S

There isn't. You know where he's looking ;)

Upload it to imgur and use [_img][_/img] remove the "_"

So we've got a lot of info about the "solo" obelisks; is there any map/resource which lists the known open/pg obelisks and what data has come from which ones? A list of the combos used would be great too, but I need to deconflict my current-searching spreadsheet (smashing the G group at the moment) with some of the entries I got because the instancing is borkokenened

Did i ever tell you how important reading the front-page is?

Theory:

The original configuration somehow matched or worked with the original planned stepping stones Fdev had in mind. IF ruin A lead to ruin B, and then B to C, finding B or C first (which may have been what occurred) could have required a change to point players back toward the undiscovered ruin sites. This may be why they felt it necessary to re-arrange the obelisks.

o7

That is good reason and a very nice and possible theory.

PS
I think They might still adjusting some stuff. Yesterday one of the Orb that usually was spawning in little rock formations like all items are, started to spawn few meters away from original location, with every reloging.
Btw, I don't want to log into open or mobius so my results will be clear solo one. I think there may be a way to activate more in solo and I don't want to contaminate it with scans from open. At least for now.

--------------------------------

One other though after yesterday.

I was scanning using only double items combinations (taken from the same place every time) in groups that are corresponding with that item and making notes, what pattern combinations it would give me. Of course it was changing each time but what was interesting was a fact - that sometimes I was getting, for example, Pattern Gamma (which means 3 pattern gamma into data storage) and sometimes Pattern Gamma+Pattern Gamma (which end up with total 6 pattern gamma into data storage).

This means that there is kind of pattern that make difference between single Pattern and double Pattern of same kind. Which may be connected strictly to activations.

Obelisks don't have the relics on them. I did all of them with the beacons, the ones with the relics, open. Big waste of time. :-(

Also don't forget, that if You want to get all original 15 scanned then there is no way not to activate one on the round top. Therefore this one is different, also because it has only two supporting element on top - which may be hint towards something.

Pardon me if this has been looked at. I suspect
It has but has 4 B been looked at in detail?

Looking at the ruins it seems like the bottom circle represents 1 B with a singular ring and 5 segments like stellar body 1 has a singular ring with 5 planets.

stellar body 4 has 2 rings and 5 planets only 1 of which isn't tidally locked and is a rocky body.

I am looking at 4A. Or at least starting there.

If you fly out 8- 10 000Ls and look back at the system it looks very 'triangular' with the main bodies sitting at the vertex of the triangle
If you rotate a triangle, then the corners will describe a circle or 'orbit'..........
The star or main mass in the system will sit on the edge of the triangle between the two inner most bodies of the system.......everybody still with me?
Now draw an imaginary line from the other vertex - thats from the other body in the system towards the star.

Now add a couple of circles to indicate the orbits of the moons around the planets and you get something which looks vaguely like this:-

stick in a little line to point to the existing site .......and I cant help think that the ruin site looks vaguely like a "system map" - this system!

Bit more orientation in 3d space and it would be easy to think the system map points to the moons of planets 4 and 5 in the ancient ruin system.

try this for yourselfs and compare it to the in game system map and you will see more clearly what I mean........

Here's an image with the system next to it
http://i.imgur.com/rYwNoth.jpg

It's hard to tell from the image the exact count so if the upper circle is 2 rings but 4 divots then maybe it's the other stellar body #5 since it has 2 rings and 4 planets. What I find most interesting is that the data mentions their reference to the moon waxing/waning and that the moon cycles directly overhead. Makes me wonder if we can speed up planet searches by identifying a moons orbit and the follow that exact path with a ship. If so that will greatly speed up any searches.

I think this is on the right lines!!!!

Fly out 10 000 ls and look back at the system! Now compare this image:-

and the system chart !!!!
Moons of planets 4 and 5 rather than 1 and 4 is my guess. That said if you look back from anothe point then you might be able to make a better match to the ruins map!
