Colonia is far far away from the bubble, which has it pros and cons.

But why not building 22 Interstellar Acceleration Portals (IAP) from the bubble to Colonia as part of a Community Goal, which lasts for around 11 months. The IAPs have to build one after the other (but two at the same time, one near the bubble and the other one near Colonia), so in 11 months we could build these 22 IAPs.

Each IAP let a Spaceship jump 1000ly and you have to pay around 250.000-750.000 Credits (depending on the mass) for each jump.

Like, dislike (I know you CMDRs love to dislike ^^)?

The whole point of Colonia is that it is a long way away...

"... a new ‘bubble’ – I knew I had to see it myself as it formed.
So I decided to go.
I could have asked FDev to teleport me out there for ‘research’, but that would be cheating. So I decided to make the trip myself.
..."

... the pilgrimage out there is part of the experience. i have done it once, so i guess i know what i'm talking about.

give it a fast way to travel there, and you can as well teleport jaques and all the other stations back to the bubble. i would like a poll like that: "do you want to have jaques teleported back to th bubble?" --- run some CGs for it, problem solved.

The bubble feels a lot smaller now we have engineered FSDs. This is the same kind of idea. Not in favour of making a unique experience like the trip to Colonia, the same kind of experience as a routine trucking trip to Sothis.

First off, as others have said...Colonia is a long way away, and it is supposed to feel like it is a long way away. I don't see any cons to this long way away distance at all. If you want to go there, go there. There is nothing there that is mandatory so it's a free choice.

I guess my question would be...why does one want to go there so badly, but yet don't want to put in any real effort to the point of suggesting a fast travel mechanic? I really don't get the fascination with Colonia by people who don't actually want to fly anywhere. Is it the dream, the mystique, the fantasy? Making it quick and easy to get there would ruin that.

As an aside...250k-750k credits? That is nothing more than a token amount. Credits are so easy to come by, and in such huge amounts in this game, that they are essentially meaningless.

Shock News : Long Distances Take a Long Time to Travel in 1:1 Recreation of Galaxy. More news at 10 ;)

Seriously though, why do people feel the need to shorten travel distances in MMO's the world over? In my opinion, shortening travel distances has killed more MMO's stone dead than I care to count. Sometimes, you can have more fun on the journey than you can at the destination. Colonia is supposed to be a long way away. Making it so you can get there in 2 mins flat is just ludicrous

No. Colonia needs to be as inaccessible as possible for it's very nature. It's a distant second bubble in its infancy.

(Besides, back in my day, we had to jump without assistance from ports along the way or neutron star boosts. And it was uphill both ways, you young whippersnappers.)

Coulda been worse.

Coulda been RNG. Lol

Me: "I'd like to transfer my ship to Sirius, from Deciat please"
Computer: "Cost will be 343,392cr"
Me: "Ok!"
*Rolling*
Computer: "Your ship is in Maia."

Don't give them any ideas. ;)

This^^

I used to play guildwars 2, but the fast travel just turned it in to stupid grind.
Take a Mission, teleport to it. Finish it. Teleport back. Repeat.
There was no need to explore more than once.

Flip it to 7 Days To Die, on the random map, it would be enormous. You could build a bike to speed up travel a bit, but there was no skipping home because you stayed out until dark. But you could find all sorts of goodies while travelling to you local trader.
The only quick way home, just like ED, is death. Lol

ED doesnt need fast travel, it needs more distractions to keep you entertained on the way.

Where in the lore does the interstellar accelerator technology come from?

I could be an invention, you could even call it something like... "progress"

-------------------

But generally speaking I'd prefer it to sty "far away".

Maybe better concentrating the development of the new bubble itself.
