So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

Surely FD have done that on purpose? Because they would have checked it surely?

I reckon it was done on the same algorithm as planet creation when discovering a new system. So the base spawned in a random location as the result of the commander who first visited the system.

Commenting on my own post. All the sites go silent around the week of October 5th, except the Formidine Beta site. The Beta site received a strange signal, but otherwise normal operations waiting for the "last cargo." They do not know that there comrades at the Alpha site are dead. The Beta site goes along for seven more weeks after the loss of the Alpha site before they have to abandon ship.

From the Formidine Alpha site log 3/6, they left Reort the last week of March. When the Hawkin's Delta site is referring to an Anaconda fleet and three main destinations around the end of August, are they already months into their journey reminiscing about Reort?

When the Hawkin's Alpha site mentions that the Formidine Rift is worse, the Formidine Alpha team is already dead. Are the mission able to communicate with each other?

a fleet of anacondas travelling with conventional hyper drives not military drives? so range on those around 30 ly per jump maybe? instead of the assumed 600ly per?

Right.

Its pretty much official here.

Same screengrabs. No way this is random. Screenshots take 2 hours later. Exact same screengrab orbiting a planet with a rotational period of 0.6 of a day.

I was worried about the planet rotating beneath me as I wasn't sure that non lendable allow geosynchronous orbit. They do.

Well, my thought is this - remember the changes that planets without atmosphere went through when they became landable? We're talking huge. If you took a before and after picture of these planets you wouldn't recognize them.

Atmosphere planets haven't had that happen to them yet.

Odds of this remaining when that does happen? Minimal.

But I do approve of your enthusiasm :)

Its not about that... This is a question of orbits and rotational speed. The ONLY way this can happen is for the planet itself to have been mathematically controlled by FD in order to keep that exact position between the heart and soul nebula. There is simply no other explanation. Remember I have been in an absolutely static geostationary position for the past two hours. The light is directly below me in exactly the same position. And this is the real important bit. THE PLANET HAS A ROTATIONAL PERIOD OF 0.6 DAYS. That means its night sky should move 4 times faster than ours. It doesn't.

Therefore, with a high degree of probability... Its a clue.

10/10 Space madness setting in, make sure those canopy bolts are secure.

might be an island of ice. ive seen a lot of strange things on planets which just turn out to be generation errors. this galaxies systems cannot be perfectly generated every time.

Not its not a clue. I have seen many of these. It's a water world right?

No, high metal content planet with thick carbon dioxide atmosphere.

There were some circular cloud formations visible on the light side of the planet. I wonder if any features like that rotate into view while the spot remains the same.

If it helps with the realization of space madness, ive been scanning RA-G p3 now for approx 30 hours, during that time ive seen ice drawings which resemble men with spears, bunny rabbits and the messages i love you plastered all over the place. this is pure random artwork from the planet and my crazy mind thinking it resembles a picture or word of some sort. i suspect il be seeing a lot more odd things before this settlement is discovered.

You know how I found it?

I centred the planet when the beacon woke up @ 45 past the hour.

I then hit SC and it was visible right below me after 10.5k.

Just sayin.

I can confirm that Gypsy12 went quite mad around....I'd say a year ago. I think he flew into too many black holes. :p :)

Also....I think it's a requirement to be a rifter :)

I find chewing on the kneebones of Tribbles helps. Try it.

Doh! It's a fair cop, guv. Yes, the ship seems to have lost life support, but may well still be floating in space or indeed crashed on some godawful ice planet.
Heheh ;).
Yea true it could have crashed later on once it's fuel had been depleted, especially if it was orbiting a planet.
.
(Btw, are you into 'old skool' music?)

Lol :D

if anything you want to be flying towards the landable at that time as its most likely going to be communicating with the outpost/settlement there. perhaps this is why they communicate at set times?
