Seconded, we need an option to save crew members. Roleplaying is important for lots of people.
I'd think roleplayers would actually enjoy consequences. It makes for far better stories.

My one toon charges me 16% and about 120mil invested so far.Re the cost... in you addup the wages of the 3 crew I have lost it would be close to 300 million.
If you've ever done any passenger missions you'll know that passengers get escape pods. Some of the more annoying ones start threatening to use it and leave without paying you at the slightest provocation.I've yet to hire a crew member.
I have a perfectly good copilot seat in my Python, yet they refuse to sit in it.
If they can't even cope with that, I'm not trusting them in my seat.
Not that it would have mattered, I got blown up this morning in a suprise torpedo strike. I assume safety regulations are much more lax, and they've long since forgotten about the Titanic incident. So one escape pod is plenty for a ship that can carry hundreds of passengers. Lol

The complaints would be worse without SLF Telepresence, who would risk launching a fighter if the crew member could be killed?
Am not against the idea of giving crew members an escape pod, although I do like that fact that I have to look after the ship in order to keep my crew member alive.
The game previously had no real sense of loss except for a hit to the bank balance.
If you don't want your crew member to die, don't lose your ship.. It's not exactly difficult to survive against AI. Op had a 25 mill rebuy, he wasn't flying a freighter config Keelback in a Hazres,
Wait.. what? Crewmembers die on ship destruction 'cause there is no pod for them? OK I could accept that on small ship where the bridge has only 1 seat, but i.e. an anaconda or t9 has 3 seats (including yours) and the ship has not enough escape pods? What are we flying? Titanics? %D
And on the side, maybe someone can answer me this question, does crewmember payment scale with their experience or will it stay on the level you hired them (i.e. a novice with 2% payment scales to expert, will it have still have 2% payment, or 12% as when you hire an expert directly?)

I like to roleplay, so losing crew for me is a big deal, let alone the weeks i been with this one, im over it, unless there is some way to save crewmembers, im just not going to use them anymore, its a shame, i really liked what they added to game, but i only have so much time on this planet, and im not going to spend it leveling crewmember after crewmember up in a game. sigh.
Personally I think we should have the option to order them to escape at a certain situation, main ship very low on health, they use escape pods.
Can you believe that your Crewe actually fly Fighters by remote from your Ship yet once destroyed the Crewe do not even have an escape pod yet you do?
Along with the Crewe always appear at every Starport even though you may not have them set to Active?
So if anything, I too would much prefer never to lose the Pilots for all the time it takes to train them up. Even an Expert Pilot is rubbish until about 25% of your own training! Why would you even bother choosing any of the others if it takes this long and they still DIE? WHY???
