Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

I don't record my sessions, but there is a kind of singing at the site, it's almost conversational, it's not some artist singing rock n roll, more like chatter with a melodic tone.

I have heard something like insect skittering and general giant insectoid noises, and I have looked at the spectogram of said noises. I couldn't see anything, Actually I saw vertical lines where the chatter is, but I couldn't make anything out of it. Maybe I will record more and put a link for others to look into this.

I'll leave that up to you, but I get the feeling it's just for atmosphere, echos of the past so to speak.

We are seeing thins, we are hearing things. We are guessing in the wildest way, solutions that are far beyond and better then actual one probably. Some of us even reach down to remind or refresh mathematics or science knowledge - last time used in school or at university - to calculate things that probably don't even exist. We are hoping and presuming and some of us are probably death inside at the moment.

I don't know what the ruins become but I know what they are right now. A black pit of anger, disappointment, false hope and a little bit of sorrow.

Just saw Ram Tah's CG has finished .... 3 days after starting .... and was announced to last max 2 weeks
I was in Robigo when it started and took me some time to get here to find it is finished :/

Beside xyz tones of data delivered to this Ram Tah, what is the conclusion of the story?
Where in-game is the followup?
Or these 1137 pages count as in-game content?
What kind of gameplay (except pointless wasting of our time without satisfaction of accomplishment) is this?

I think FD should surely work on the game content - introducing new and new pew pew upgrades is all they have so far.

Forget ancient site or Fordmidine rift - this is all the same as driving SRV on some barren planet, no content at all that can keep me coming back and search for solutions in this game.
Just pew pew or pointless driving.

There is more content in Obsidian Ant+s videos than in this game all together.

I'm so sad now :'(

I am not angry or disappointed with the ruins itself. Not at all!

I only think FD could talk to us more. Keep in touch, saying "hold on, guys, we are fixing" or "you guys can't wait for what is coming" or "hi, I work at FD and im bored, sup, guys?".

That is the only thing I feel lacking. We only get curve balls and dodging answers.

As I posted previously, I've heard the "singing" (and I'm not sure this is the best description) in the large craters on both sets of planets that orbit each other in the ruins system. The only reason I took any note of it is because I have the in game music muted.

It definitely could be a "sound scape" and that's the most fitting description I've seen. I parked up and listened to it for a while and even jumped in the SLF and rotated 360deg to try to get a bearing on its location but its just all around it seems.

I've since been back to each location to get a video clip to post and its not present. Maybe as suggested its down to timing or maybe its nothing at all and just ambient.

Sounds at the site

Folks, as questions and suggestions about sounds at the site have come up a few times over the past few pages, take a look at this section of the FP,

"THERE COULD BE A SIGNAL HIDDEN IN THE OBELISKS SPECTROGRAM!"

It's the fifth section down from the latest ruins info. A section being defined by horizontal lines.)

One precautionary note - it's all from pre 2.2.03

Edit - just thought I should clarify, the text in the ""s is copied and pasted from the FP. - I'm not shouting! :)

Oh, damn, I missed that!

Sorry, I'm back from a long, long hiatus only last week, and only noticed the whole alien ruins thing on Friday evening - I've been trying to absorb massive amounts of info re- barnacles, UA's, UP's, "Thargoid" ships, crash sites and I'vve clearly missed some things, thanks for pointing that one out!

Mentioned several times, the initial ingame path to the known ruins site should help us to find the unknown.
But the only ingame hint where the ruins are located is in this galnet article: https://community.elitedangerous.com/en/galnet/uid/587ce4869657ba2a4971527c

What if you don't know that reading the forums is vital for playing the game? How can you find the known ruins?
Maybe this post i found in the forums gives the answer to that question: What is he talking about?

Again...all the hours and hours of theorising and trying to "solve" the ruins, and it comes down to handing over "tonnes" of data to an engineer, who's all "screw you guys and your efforts, I'm getting the glory for finding the next ruins site". Because there is NO puzzle, beyond which pair of doohickeys gets you a happy inbox message, from which bluey-glowy stoney.

Why are we validating FD's lazy approach to story-telling by wasting countless hours of our time trying to solve mysteries that don't actually exist?

What's the betting that the next thing is a CG from Ram Tah to explore a region of space that his data indicates is a likely candidate to contain some ruins? Except of course, it being an exploration CG, you can then hand in data from the complete opposite end of the galaxy and it would count equally.

Bitter much? Me? Yes, very much so. (But I subscribe to the theory that the more I moan and shout about something, the more likely it is that I'll be hilariously proved wrong. The upshot of me being proved wrong would mean there would actually be some engaging gameplay out of all of this).

I suppose a possible upside might be that even if it IS an exploration CG, then, just like in the Formidine thread, some poor, dedicated CMDR might spend 150 hours eyeballing ONE planet and find the ruins before the CG was over and Ram Tah gets robbed of his glory.

At least with a second site we'll have something to compare for analysis.

Ram Tah answers, "I am hugely grateful to the galactic community for its support. It is my hope that this data will allow us to unlock the monolith network and discover further Guardian sites"..............

There are a lot of talking about there must be another guardian ruins in the planet, and im agree with this. But to think that ruins going to be in the same planet and solar system where is the first?

Thats too simple to be true. :)

Now, imagine Ram Tah's laboratory is unexpectedly assaulted, himself assassinated and all research is undone.

That would complicate things *evil grin*

Not hard to imagine. I think it's happened to Palin twice already. Or maybe it happened to someone else as well and I'm confusing the two.

If it's reported that he has boarded a ship heading somewhere we'll know it's all gone badly wrong...I'm pretty sure there's not been a successful journey that has been documented on Galnet since the game launched :/

Go on then.. off you go... I am not sure how many others have looked, but I have spent some hours looking and flying over the planet. Its really quite a big place; maybe it is a similar task to flying to Hutton Orbital for a mug! ha ha.
