Thanks for the video about quantum entanglement/spooky action at a distance. It's always reminded me of Schrodinger's Cat: an attempt to illustrate an implausible/impossible result of a theory if taken to an extreme.

QE implies that something(really just information in one direction) can travel faster than light while SC implies something can be alive and dead at the same time.

Here's a drastically simple analogy for QE. Imagine you have a bag with a black stone and a white stone. You grab a stone without looking at it. Your friend takes the bag, jumps in his Asp, and flies 2 light years away. Now you look at your stone. If it's white, you instantly know that your friend's stone is black. It appears that information has traveled faster than the speed of light, or even that you looking at your stone somehow effected your friend's stone. But that isn't what is happening. Just like Schrodinger's cat isn't alive and dead at the same time.

Edit: Yes, not everyone is happy with the Standard Model. It's an attempt to explain both QM and Newtonian/macroscopic physics that can work most of the time. But it still isn't perfect

Since the spheres are made of tiles and randomly generated, I'd say an oversight in making sure they don't get too many repeat tiles next to each other.

Or maybe this is the "reciever network" someone posted the other day.

If you look closer, some craters have different size.

If you stretch the sound and the pitch of the ruins uploaded by BL1P (Good work! hope you do not mind sharing) you will hear some strange things.
For instance a tiger, a violin and perhaps some mumbling.
I am familiar with pareidolia, and ockhams razor. Perhaps one listens to the source material the engineer used to create these stellar noises.
Bu perhaps it poinst out to some further investigation.

I was explaining how we see red visible light in that post. See my original post that seems to have brought this mess on and you will see that I said the exact same thing as you did. In order for red to be reflected then the chlorophyll would need to absorb more of the lower light wave light. Since White and blue light have a much lower light wave distance than the reds 700 nm range, I would imagine the star source would need to output that blue white wavelength. The plant would then not need to absorb as much if any light in the red spectrum. So it would reflect back to our eyes as red.

I think we are trying to get at the same thing but words are getting in the way.
I found this article which discusses chlorophyll http://www.webexhibits.org/causesofcolor/7A.html; I skimmed through it and basically there are several kinds of chlorophyll, but one type absorbs blue light & another absorbs red light. Both of these types are present in most earth vegetation so we see it as green, though there is some red/purple foliage, and of course in autumn chlorophyll is lost from leaves & we see the autum colours of red & gold. So it might be that the Guardian homeworld vegetation did not absorb red light, it could be that their star was excessively red, or it could be another effect such that ammonia atmosphere did some filtering or changed the chemistry - I'm no expert on xenobiology or chemistry, but I suspect this line of reasoning isn't going to get us enough information to locate the homeworld.

Is this what people have experienced on other planets prior to the ruins showing up? Because I've heard ambient noise on planets, in the last day or two, but nothing like that.

I listened to BL1P's recording but didn't hear any singing. Sounded just like the usual planet sounds to me.
 
<sighs> Look, first of all don't tell me what I'm thinking. I know exactly what I'm talking about. Don't try to say I'm thinking something different just to suit yourself.

The source makes no difference to the light travels. That is basic basic level stuff. Please consider what the implications of what you're saying are, because I understand them, and that's why I'm saying that what you're saying is wrong. Well that plus the basics.

I'm not commenting on anything else here just the speed of light changing depending on the source.

Which was the astonishing result of the Michelson-Morley experiment, and the foundation for Einstein's theory of Relativity.

Like a spooky "running finger round a wine glass" type sound. Happened while in flight, or possibly when hovering to check my bearings while trying to locate the site. I had already read people mentioning the "singing", so I did not think it was worth recording.

I don't need to, you've done it yourself.
You've taken your tenuous grasp on a few scientific principles and misapplied them for all to see.

As already pointed out by somene else, stars emit light that can be very closely approximated by blackbody radiation which emits a continuous spectrum of light that extends well beyond both sides of the visible spectrum with a peak wavelength depending on the surface temperature.
You seem to be confusing that with emission and absorption spectra, which is entirely caused by the photons absorbed or emitted during an atomic state transition which match the specific energies, corresponding to specific photon wavelengths, required to move electrons between shell.
These are very different phenomenon - need I go on?

Our plants are green because chlorophyll has two HOMO/LUMO pairs in the visible spectrum that absorb around 450nm and 675nm. Our eyes and brains evolved to take the sum of the remaining colors and interpret it as green. Different structures in the photosynthetic pathways will result in different a different combination of light absorbed.

Different eye/brain function could lead to different interpretations of colors.

It's fun to speculate, but I don't know how much mileage we could get out of the Guardian's skin color.

I'd tend to agree. In a real world situation we'd need to know the details of their biochemistry to understand their skin colour.

It's interesting that the data scans reference it but how to distinguish background info from hints we should investigate? And even if we restrict ourselves to the same class of star on the basis of it, which star?

Metagaming for a moment, in past mysteries once smart people made the key discoveries e.g. ua morse, up Merope signal, things moved fast because the trail was clear. Would FDev change fundamental strategy (as opposed to iterate on difficulty or method of clue delivery)? Good question...
 
Uhm, I'm at the ruins, in solo, atm. I have company.

A system defense asp "no faction" has landed a little way away from the site...

I was in Solo and had a pirate wing fly over, headlined by a Python and three Vultures.

I wonder why I never saw any NPCs pirates while in Mobius - that would make things interesting.
 
Hello CMDRs o7,

I've been studying the monoliths, hoping to find some patterns.
I wanted to link some monoliths together like lasers and mirrors.
Unfortunately I found too much of a pattern. All Monoliths have the same markings.
