Probably people have thought of this already, but going to same locations on the suspected likely planet candidates as the current Ruins we know of may be useful, it'll eliminate that possibility of it anyway. Also any huge craters should be checked out. Reverse planetary coordinates.

That's my starting plan.

Also, might be worth comparing parameters of planets too. Known ruins site is a nice 26 C, good for life I guess?

And I would ad to this with this:

I was trolling around in the Alpha Dark Region hoping to get Hyperdicted last night, no luck, so I headed to Merope 5c to check out the barnacles.

Does anyone know the location of some barnacles (I'll save you googling, it is -28.8637 -113.9954)

Ruins location is -31.8 -128.9!!! They are on the same heading from 0,0! 256 degrees

Did you know Merope 5 is a Y class ringed brown dwarf.

Bit of a coincidence?

Start at 0,0, head towards ruins co'ords as an initial search pattern. Carry on that line until something found or back at 0,0.

lots of unexplored planets, no idea where to start so just decided to pick one of the planets furthest away that seems to have a moon similar to first ruins

For narrowing down which planets, start with stuff orbiting Y dwrfs if/where present.

And/or with similar characteristics to first ruins planet.

Refer back to ruins site/new system maps for possible hints.

From what I understand, the Guardians were not able to land on every planet due to the limitations of their ships' drives. My idea is to first search the bodies that have some similarities with the the one that has already found ruins.
At work right now, so this is the only way I can help you guys. Good luck!!!

I was going to fly around looking for this stuff but I've no idea where to look and I'm not sure just going to a random planet/coords helps that much. Good luck CMDRs.

It is a pity we don't have landable atmospheric planets already. It would make more sense to me that these guys build their things in that kind of planets where they could survive.

(Wild) Speculation (with very few data points)

All these systems contain low mass/brightness stars/dwarves. The known site orbits a brown dwarf. If other sites are found, and they too are at the dwarf stars, that might suggest their species evolved around a dwarf star. That might also suggest things about their physiology. Perhaps being used to low temperatures, or having very sensitive eyes, or no eyes at all. Also if I am not mistaken, the system that the UPs where using as a reference point has a dwarf star primary.

Based entirely on this threadbare theory, I might suggest checking bodies near dwarf stars first. (For the record I am 3Kl up in Cancri Custer on the Distant Stars expedition so can't do so myself at this time).

Me thinking the same, but ...

Here is a pointless thought - No one go looking!! we have NO TOOLS to search a planet - which makes ZERO sense - we need FDev to give as proper scanners NOW!!!

I totally agree.

The 1st time I visited the ruins I found them quite easy using the images on the FP (they were on the sunny side). However on the subsequent visits it took me ages to locate the ruins due to them being on the dark side and that's knowing the co-ordinates. How long it would take to search a whole planet boggles the mind.

Hunch: anything in the obelisk audio that could be descibing one of the system maps? eg bars depict sun, planet, moons?

The first two planets:

Distance between them - 25 ls.

The "moon" spins really fast in the system map.

Adding further to these with:

Turn off in game music whilst searching planets.

I know some dont believe it is a thing, but the "singing"/"ruins music" is only audible from close to the ruins location, so that might help.

And don't forget to have the mission in your log and the first site as scanned as you can get (to solo standards, at least).
