THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

OK so here is my theory on this mystery.... sorry if it has already been said.

Now we have the name of the operation, exodus, meaning the mass departure of people, I have concluded that this could be preparation for the evacuation of the bubble. It's a pretty far fetched idea I know but here me out. The ships were dropping beacons either for their return journey or for people to follow and find them. This could be the "exodus" of people fleeing in coming events. And with the ships of the accounts of people from the data links with all their ship systems dropping it bears similarity with the unknown ship, but with a hostile reaction too, something we CMDRS havent experienced yet with this unknown ship. What if these "aliens" are unhappy with our expansion into their space.....or they are the reason for this massive exodus in the first place. Just imagine it.... Thargoids on one side of us and the guardians (if any still remain) on the other...... space is more populated than we assume it to be. I believe something big is coming and this "operation exodus" is an evac/relocation plan more accessible than colonia.
Just my theory though, feel free to throw ideas and criticism at it :) I just think the clue is in the name of the op.
I think the alliance is up to something also....
And the unknown cargo ...maybe a sacrificial offering to appease our new alien overlords ;)

\\ massive tinfoil cone: on

OR you could consider that an exodus can go both ways. Either outwards from the bubble (ie. humans exiting the populated sphere). Or INTO human colonized space. This would then be an exodus by somone other than humans. Maybe someone WAS welcoming our alien overlords by laying out some lightning strips for them to follow into the bubble.

\\ massive tinfoil cone: off

Right then, as you were.

To be fair, according to Drew there were in-game hints about the precise location - so we never meant to use brute force to unlock the locations.

But I'm puzzled why nobody found the proper clues, there are lots of really sharp and dedicated players trying to solve the mystery.

So has Drew confirmed there are more beacons and/or bases to be found?

The logs are ambiguous. They talk about dropping beacons, but it's so vague they could be talking about the 4 we already know of in each location.

It's also therefore not clear if these "rally" points were the final destination for the expedition or not, since we don't know where the logs came from. Most of them seem to have been transmitted to the rally bases from elsewhere, but again it's too vague to really tell.

Drew, if you're reading this, can we get some confirmation? It was *sort of* fun after 2 years of zero tangible progress to actually participate in a meaningful effort to find bases we knew were there. That's not a waste of the hour or two per week of free time I have to put into the game. But no way am I going to spend days touring random systems in the general vicinity on the off chance I run into a beacon or on the astronomically tiny odds I stumble on an unknown base.

It falls just short of actual confirmation of Sirius Corp's involvement. That said, more and more fingers seem to be pointing in that direction.

Quick question: I seem to remember reading somewhere that Sirius Corp developed the current generation of hyperspace technology, the Frame Shift Drive. I can't for the life of me find a citation anywhere. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Current FDS is based on the 3b version thet Antares used(touristinfo from Sirius).

This info also suggest that Meta-Drive was a Sirius front, from the start.
The Exodus documents were in their archive.

Now the Alliance (Turner group) also has access to them.

Long time lurker. This thread and canonn's are what persuaded me to buy this game a year ago. You guys are amazing.

Question about the beacons: has anyone noticed that the blue light appears to flicker in in a suspicious way? I can't be sure ... playing streamed from Xbox and so my fps isn't the greatest. Has anyone with a good fps examined the lights closely?

I could be dead wrong, but since we are looking for missed clues...

I don't remember this being looked into... when they were discovered everyone immediately jumped on decoding the audio transmission. correct me if i'm wrong almighty Rift.Hive.Mind

Possible but if so then maybe the old adage that it helps could prove true...I tried it at alpha and the beacon came online, its broadcast to the best I could manage is below, but i'm ashamed to say I was not prepared and some of the audio was not clear

AYJEP QYUWLUDCQCKJXUEO KPJDTPQYP6UNL003 NE??YLKCJQ02 SKN?CDCJUNCSQ UESKQP URN041 IKDUPQEJDXY

As I say I was not prepared and I have not been able to repeat it so far, but the whole process was jumped in, dropped a UA....nothing, opened text and tried a few text transmissions....nothing, flew up to the domed surface of the satellite and bumped it a couple of times and it came online!

I first post right! Troll! just try it

As Assimilator1 says, the known beacons have already been decoded. They are also time based, so broadcast at specific intervals which is why you were unable to force then to broadcast. The second time was likely the next timed interval.

I don't think anything has been confirmed, or even suggested, about further beacons - yet. The way I read this scenario is that the known beacons were laid by the three expeditions whose logs we are collecting. They are 'rally points', places for fleets to gather, for a later expedition - the 'exodus'? - on its way to wherever, and for reasons we don't yet know.

I guess with all the others found we can expect an influx of explorers out here in Conflux!

Remember, the Gamma beacon hasn't been found yet, so if you get bored hunting for the outposts, you can always hunt for the beacon :)

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the initial Conflux Coords were given after the CG and there was no planets in the system, so I suspect about a bug with that Gamma beacon. I remember an exhaustive search around the 200 lyrs radius from there without results. I think FDev should check about this beacon in-game and confirm it.

For the record, are you guys aware of the Neutron boost storage trick? Basically, do the usual FSD overcharge neutron thing, then target the system to jump to, and make sure you are going to be flying through neutron arm. When the FSD is charged, throttle forward (and be nice and close to the neutron arm) and, so long as the FSD overcharges again in the 5 second countdown, you'll get another boost to use from the new system.

Could be handy in some cases.

Nice Zeeman! I Will keep this in mind.

I'm there, a beautiful ELW but nothing to declare.....

EAFOTS YO-Z D1 done.

[up] Nice work, I got far too tired last night!

Lol :D

Thanks for the info :), added to the list.
I can do that with level 2 jumponium & I have plenty of it :), but earliest I can try is maybe tomorrow evening (GMT).

Just seen what Worom said, also this would be way beyond the jump range of a Sidewinder.

Thanks :), will add to the list.

Assimilator.... All system's within the 200ly range.

EAFOTS EK-A D0
EAFOTS IK-Z C0
EAFOTS CK-A D7
EAFOTS QM-M C7-2
EAFOTS OC-V D2-2

All checked thoroughly, scanned, flown around each body... everything [wacky]

I just realised there is a system i have not checked yet within the 200ly which is EAFOTS JQ-Y D0

As requested..

These are the "types" for Hawkin's Gap (agricultural etc...). They all have data points EXCEPT the research base, I assume this is consistent with other areas.

Also added a bit of overview footage for each site, just for documentation purposes really. Like it's not easy to fly back and recheck things is it. (thought it's likely the settlements are templated anyway).

Has anyone tried tirggering an ECM next to a beacon or a base?

This line makes me suspicious (why was it mentioned, ehat has come of it, nothing here is by coindidence);
Some of the less outlandish theories include the suggestion that electronic countermeasure technology was reverse-engineered from captured Thargoid vessels
https://community.elitedangerous.com/en/galnet/uid/57ada8969657baeb6e876c6c

I'm thinking not many explorers will carry an ECM as part of there loadout so it may not have been tested yet?

Fly Safe!
CMDR Jim Dangerous

So are the white fluffy clouds boiling out of witchspace something I should be concerned about, out here, in EAFOTS, 780ly+ +y of the Galactic Plane?

I get the eerie feeling they're trying to reach out and wrench someone...

uhm...you got any screenshots? How do i have to picture that for myself? Clouds just hanging around?

ARGH!!! MY joystick just stopped working int he middle of picking up mats from a signal source, worse still, either an NPC, or Human decided it was a great time to attack my Asp. Imagine my joy when I realise I am being attacked whilst in the joystick calibration software trying to figure it out. Alt + Tabbed back to the game to try and at leats get out with the throttle only, but too late.

No big loss financially, but argh... Just so frustrating. Seems ED just decided it would no longer accept my joystick inputs, despite working fine in the test software. Now I have to re-bind everything, for frack's sake.

Anyways... Needed to vent. It's those damn flower ships. Must be. I thought it was a myth...

Equipment malfunctions? Random attacks? sounds like another abandoned base log [big grin]

File a ticket?

File a ticket?

Nope - don't really care about the loss, to be honest, I'm worth billions, so a million re-buy is a drop in the ocean, just frustration because I was on a bit of a roll with good mats popping up, and now I have 0 motivation to re-bind my stick. I guess I should file a ticket, just in case this thing happens to others, but I'm not even sure if there is enough info for them to do anything.

On top of that, I've now screwed something up with the calibration software, and the X axis is always inverted, kinda driving me nuts. Seeing as I got my replacement 6600K from Intel last week, I'll probably just check everything on the new machine that has been gathering dust waiting for the Intel RMA process to finish. I'll just take it as a sign to get some sleep, seeing as I've been working on 4hrs sleep a night for the last 9 days. Despite my grumbles with this game, it's incredibly addictive... As is this mystery.
