On a tidally locked planet the point closest to the body being orbited would be a logical choice. Or they could just declare the ruins site to be zero :)

Why, to obstruct their clear line of sight past the most ? Unless they are using very strange tech for communication, I'd think this is the least likely position.

Congratulations to Cmdr Khenistry on Xbox!
I've been concentrating on the same planet but at -30 rather than +30. Well done on the find!

You're right, and the new discovery of 30 by 60 isn't close enough, either.

I should have been exactly right. How dare I be out by 1-3 latitude/longitude.

Sorry, I'm just not exact enough, even with margin of error.
Sarcasm aside, I thought you had a point from the start. I think RedWizzard's issue is the way you've communicated yourself. Thankfully, both of you seem to be cooling down. :)

Sacra Oculus is receiving reports of possible desecration at the new ruins. A Priest is in attendance. Theocracies everywhere will express more than concern if desecration is confirmed. Comms chatter indicates some Commanders are stealing artefacts. Yet again, there are some masquerading as "scientists" who are solely interested in stealing priceless artefacts for profit. A call for mercenaries will be issued if such sacrilege is confirmed.
While I will move some relics around, I don't take any away with me. And "good science" is done in Solo first. ;)

Based on the latest find, I don't think the power of 2 theory holds up.
It seems to me that variations on 30,30 are yielding results, not 32,32.

Small thing but the 30 latitude at least would represent 1/3 of a right-angle which still fits with the apparent obsession with 3.
Longitude is harder to justify because the prime meridian of a planet is arbitrary unless it's tidally locked. I could only put that down to the human element at FD.
Point is, a 30deg grid is not far off a 32deg grid. Now it's clear that it's 30deg grid, we can use that to concentrate on the remaining candidate planets.

Anyone else noticing a similarity between this new ruin and the symbol on the barnacles?

Just seemed a little familiar
WOW! I'll be double checking this myself, but I think you're onto something there!

I do not agree.

IMHO, it's not a bug at all.
There are different instances of the same sites around, to raise the chances to find them.

What I mean is: there are 3 unique different layouts to find, but there are different instances of them scattered around the area.
I like this idea Rizal. Let's try and find more sites!

Erm update what ?
Has the site been mapped and assigned cluster letters and obelisk numbers as a standard ?

- - - Updated - - -

Well the only two that light up in the cluster I showed in the screenie are both Totem. Hard to guarantee if none of the others light up :)

Ahh yes thats for sure I see what ya mean now
Same as site one has 4 casket clusters
Yes yes was just saying this is a totem cluster :)
That was the first thing I thought as well.... getting a coordinate system for the obelisk sections. I'll make a start on a proposed one shortly.

I propose this Cluster mapping, so that the shape of the letters roughly align with the shape of the cluster (plus reasonable alphabetic) :D

You just refuse to get it?
Meh.

No, he just see's that we don't live in an ideal world (just a quick look at the news will show you that), and that sacrifices have to be made here and there to get a thing done. And that in the grand sceme of things, a repetetive graphic in a computer game doesnt amount to a particularly important hill of beans.

another totem cluster
in solo again
The one that says didnt get message did give 1mil though just no pm from ramtamwiddlywigwam man

i've been cruising around 7D in the 119 system at about -30.5 lat. About 1/2 through circumnavigating. I really hope i didnt pass over it without realizing

This part of your post I'm not disputing.

I just say that in my opinion pure ctrl+c -> ctrl+v in this case is lazy. Not claiming any malintent or gross neglect.

Now, there are more important thing to discuss (in the context of this thread), right?

When you say "lazy" you are implying they could have done better and chose not to instead to do less or nothing basically be "lazy", right? If not, then you need to pick another word to use because this is the impression you're giving everyone and it's insulting to the development team.

What I'm saying is that in the real world development resource is finite and they have to decide when and where to spend it. I am as certain as I can be (as an outsider to their process) that they did not fritter any of it away on something worthless, I am equally certain that they did the best they could with this, given the time they had, and that if they had chosen to spend more time on the ruins, we would have lost out elsewhere.

But, ok, I'll leave it at this.

Like tech 3 ending in a McCoy joke: "This data will need further analysis from someone with a greater knowledge of medicine than I possess. It appears that the Guardians’ experimented with biological manipulation extending it to other creatures in their environment. These techniques were used not only to improve life for the other creatures, but also to address ecological issues, although the Guardians took great care to influence things only as much as was needed.

There is a lot of data here that while I can generally understand needs a biologist to truely decipher all the information. After all I’m an engineer not a a doctor."

Though I don't remember him having a stutter :)

I would like to suggest a new numbering, to start the center should be the beginning

New_Ruins.png

I want to suggest this based on the date discovered as No. 1

Test started:
Casket + Orb
A1

Casket + Orb = still negative for A2 and A3

Why do I get the feeling that, as scientists, we're going to get summarily squished the moment the Guardians' genetically engineered beasties get hold of us.

I'm getting a bit of a Half Life feeling about these ruins...
