Hey peeps can I just double check something? I have been flying around with my AspX, I have visited and scanned the barnacles, I have interacted with a UP and had my systems shut off and also I have been scanned by a UA. Is it just a waiting game now to be hyperdicted? I have not picked up any of the UA/UPs

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I got interdicted tonight, and not even looking for it.
In the interests of science...
1. Started in Maia
2. Decided to take the 'conda to the California Nebula, so set a course
3. About 5 jumps along, found an "anomaly" USS.
4. Picked up Unknown Artifact.
5. Decided to head back to Maia and sell it on.
6. About 3 jumps back towards Maia, got interdicted.
7. Taken onboard for severe 4nal probing. And I LOVED IT.

ok call this an unconfirmed sighting DURING a jump. i was jumping to NUEKAU LQ-Y D3 and as the jump was about to end, i saw a white dot move from left to right across the top left of the forward view out of the cockpit of my asp. it wasnt coming towards me as all the usual effects of a jump do which is what caught my attention.
now this could be a false sighting. im keeping my eyes peeled for any repeat, and from the posts so far im WAY out of the area hyperdictions happen... but maybe they arent just in that area. or maybe we have more than one alien race out there and the others are just tracking in hyperspace not interdicting (yet). if so... humanity may not even be the target for the interdictions. if i was wildy speculative, and i DID see a non human vessel then maybe the hyperdictions and scans are actually to find if we are allied to one side in a galactic war we had no idea was raging.
or it could just be we have the same alien race all over, but they have no reason to interdict in my direction.

This thread has reached peak stupidity levels. Thargoids or other sentient spacefaring aliens are probably eons away. I mean, seriously - FDev could probably cook up a new, organic-looking 'artifact' and this entire forum would blow up. How much longer are people going to fall for these foreshadowing shenanigans? While I agree with your post, I think it's important to qualify one thing. We've been using the term 'sentient' wrongly and we have Star Trek to thank for it. The term should be 'sapient'. Sentience is the ability to feel (which includes most, if not all, all animate life), Sapience is the ability to think rationally and engage in intelligent conversation with other intelligent beings.
After spending around 30 minutes trying to find a UP, managed to find one and then spent a bit of time hopping around the Pleiades Nebula before heading to Celaeno, where I got interdicted one jump away. I had gotten rid of the probe previously, that being the only contact I've had, no fragment acquired, nothing. Things of note for consistency/patterns are a general electrical haze around the probe before scooping it up, getting scanned by it and a relatively short time until then getting jumped while in witchspace.
Have to say, none of the videos you see on YouTube do it justice, great atmospherics!

Captain, we have detected an inhabited forum! Just like all the others, there are no sapient life-forms.
Finally after ages playing around sorting out the engineers, I got habductified.
Lots of going backwards and forwards before unlocking Palin and nothing. Then the trip back straight after unlocking them and doing a lot of trips in the Maia area for ranking up, it happened on the way back with 5 remaning fragments on board but no other stuff except standard cargo for long distance trading missions. Never visited any of the alien sites.
I'm happy now. Just wish I was in a ship with a better view... darned Python lol

I had a UA in such a rack when I had the cut scene...
I just don't think UAs are even a factor.

Me too. The yellow light was obviously an attempt at peaceful first contact, lets all head over there and blow them to smithereens.
Less advanced cultures, historically, do not fare well upon contact with more technologically advanced ones.
As I said, I had 5 left over fragments after unlocking Palin but I did an awful lot of trips to and from Maia before unlocking Palin but as soon as I did unlock, it gave it to me. So, either having the fragments, or unlocking Palin did the trick.
I had no ua's on me but had scooped one up previously and then dumped it again as I was trying to work out what it was.
