Oh. My. Dog.

That project is done for.
Yes please, use a proprietary language. That's gonna be great. Easy to maintain. Everyone will be able to help you.

Here's a free hint: Servicemix + Camel. Just use that, it's open source and made by much smarter people. And you can scale vertically and horizontally, heck you can develop your services completely without *any* dependency to it while being able to choose freely how to interconnect them.

Damnit! Another word to learn a new definition of!

I'll put that one in the box next to subsumption, megamap, and fidelity.

Don't forget to leave room in the box for the name of the "proprietary language". ;)

Edit.

Subsumption makes me think of evil, smelly, oozy stuff you have to get rid of by pumping it out. Like bilge. [ugh]

Well they better hope he does not leave like most of the other Leads that have come before him. Well CIG really do like to reinvent the wheel using their new square tech.

He will be indispensible and unfireable. Mortgage driven development at its finest.

From this month's studio report https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/15704-Monthly-Studio-Report

The Backend Team has been hard at work on a massive project to refactor our entire backend infrastructure to a new architecture we’re calling Diffusion. Diffusion will be a truly cloud-oriented service architecture that will help improve high scalability and availability for our services. It will be powered by a top level “coordination” layer written in a proprietary language developed by our Lead Server Engineer, Jason Ely.

LOL

I thought you were just making that up, but then checked... You really can´t make that biowaste up. I think it has got it all, I mean:

massive project, refactor, Diffusion (new BDSSE term), truly cloud oriented, high scalability, power (of the machines)...

High scalability is better than low scalability anyways. Reminded me of this (min 5:30): https://youtu.be/mzJmTCYmo9g?t=330

Wonder how much of its resource base CIG is wasting on continuous refactors, be it backend, ship modelling or what not.

Pretty soon they will announce that Squadron42 and patch 3.0 rely on the "massive infrastructure rewrite" aka Diffusion and while they had fully intended to show them off at E3 it has now become apparent that rather than spoil the presentation with bugs and unpolished content they have decided to hold off until Diffusion is finished. Diffusion is anticipated to be finished by the end of the year. Cut to Jason Ely's 1000 yard stare.

I don't blame you :)

It's funny how the development of the game is more entertaining than the actual fricking game...

Haha, just when you thought it couldn't get any worse....

CIG are now cashing in on cheesy mainstream events and holidays.

From the monthly report:

quote:
The Oxygen, Breathing & Stamina systems have started being implemented and soon we will have players begin to carry their own oxygen supplies or risk turning blue in the face. The system should handle everything from how the oxygen tank delivers breathable air to the helmet, to how the player breathes said air and how his body converts that into actual usable stamina. At the same time, all actions are being converted to consume this stamina, so you will want to keep your character supplied with oxygen if you want them to be capable of performing various actions.

[haha]

Lol, have they mentioned how will OBS system work when you get stuck in a wall or drop below the surface ?
