Just remember that not everyone does reddit. So a simple response here on their own forums would do wonders.

Not enough players cared about it on these forums because its a pvp issue and most pvprs use reddit because of the favoritism moderation they dont get here. They didnt answer the question here because nobody asked the question...most probably werent even aware it was an issue until this thread went up, and I say this as someone who uses these forums every day. I never seen it so much as mentioned once which is saying something considering it was allegedly gamebreaking according to SDC players ^

Not just SDC considers it broken:)

In the current case, that group you are referring to is 13th Legion. They are also the group they are referencing in the video, which you pointed out a few pages back iirc. There you go ;)

Apologies! Only just read the thread back. The 13th.

So now it's easy. Set a dait.....13th + SDC. Now SDC know about the healing thing ..thay can counter/use it....some dev/mod/guy to stream it. SDC CAN'T lose agane....it's impossible....coz thay know about the meta..no?

Hey, I'm right with you there. My wife says i'm anti-social... whatever. :p
Though I still don't understand why FD would respond over on reddit, and not here on their own forums about something like this.
I suppose it's possible that they're knee-deep in the 2.3 beta setup to be messing around here.

Yeah. I've said the same a few times...all these different outlets I just don't do. I miss a lot of info. Wish there was one outlet thay used so everyone could follow. U know....like some form of forom...:p hehe. We arnt all computer guys. I can only just work this here cordless telephone.....

But if it was an issue fer a great many, then why have these forums been silent about this so called gamebreaking mechanic until now? On a forum that gets 70 odd pages about long hair, one has to wonder just how many consider this to be an issue at all.

The part where they themselves say its ruining their game? Whats that they say about silver linings?

Because it requires a wing and specific engineering to leverage. It's a security through obscurity sort of thing.

I'll grant you that the demographic who consider this an issue are not prevalent here on this particular forum. I was just being literal, as SDC are not the only one's concerned here. I will give them props for leading the charge for explaining this broken mechanic in an easily understandable way even for non combat pilot's.

And dat yodeling & cheering, just thinking about it is still making me chuckle:)

Dont get me wrong m8, I thought the vid was quite amusing too...even told rizla that, but thats not the point. Its not the cause itself, its the way in which it was done...while amusing enough in its own, there are more effective means of communicating an issue. With this audience? Think about it and then maybe explain it to them if you genuinely believe their intentions as being sincere, because not a helluva lot of others do and Im merely echoing what several others have pointed out.

Also has to be noted here that your skin appears to be somewhat thicker than they appear to have...its easier to explain it to you because ye have better control of yer emotions. They go on the offensive far too easily and it just ends up being a chore with them ^

Sure, I see your point. My own standpoint is simply that even though I don't particularly go in for a lot of the random murder shenanigans that we see happening associated with SDC and similar groups, I have absolutely zero problems with it. I don't believe a player in this game needs a reason to destroy another CMDR's ship beyond thinking player ships are particularly pretty when they explode. I look at forum bragging of these episodes and the resulting forum salt as a vicious cycle that basically perpetuates itself, and my opinion is weighted towards being sympathetic towards the aggressor because I hate whiners more than anything. And while I don't necessarily ally myself with SDC I consider them pretty much the best group in the game and hold a number of their members as friends. On top of that, most of their hierarchy has been very generous with their time for help with combat theory, tactics and practical training. So they used this video of them blowing up a bunch of CMDR's coming into a station...to me, that's just an amusing side benefit of a generally public spirited mesage. On that note, I've been destroyed numerous times since joining GCI, and each time be it a station gank that caught me unawares, a 1 v 1 duel that disabused me of any notion that I was special, or a full enemy wing intervention in a hot zone where I was flying all alone, it's always been fun, entertaining, and above all instructive.

I do have a pretty thick skin because for me I really enjoy ED as a game, and I don't take myself or it too seriously. And what I've come to really appreciate about the PvP crowd is that these people really enjoy playing the game:)

Elite is what it is m8...I know enough guys around here from other games who are mostly all pvprs themselves, here and elsewhere. Im seriously not gonna sit over judgement on what they do...can assure ye Im guilty of far worse things in other games and I take a certain satisfaction when I vex people so badly, they completely lose the rag with me. I suppose that means Im a bit of a troll sometimes...arent we all deep down?

Theres a reason I dont share all the names I use...some ppl just cant let go of the past

I was just laughing at the reasons behind the attempt, not the attempt itself although it was funny. Killing those who stand no chance however is not a kind of pvp that I would personally endorse, I care little the reasoning behind why...imo thats not real pvp. But subjective opinions are like funny bones...everyone has one ^

On a lighter note, I may end up changing my own playstyle at some point...remember Im not here as long as many of you lot...Im at the start of my journey...time will tell ^

The forum gets 70 pages about long hair but nothing about PvP wing combat tactics. You won't be able to find any other threads about other facets of PvP wing combat tactics, either.

Basically although a small handful of us try to keep the PvP flame alive here, over 90% of PvP discussion takes place on reddit. This particular issue has been discussed there ad nauseam over the last few weeks, including with memes, videos, parodies of parodies on the EitDagerous satirical reddit, etc. etc.

Even back when I was in Adle's Armada about a year ago, in those days not one in ten of our members regularly read official, let alone posted here. And there's been a much greater drop-off across most PvP groups since then.

This segregation is unfortunate but sadly now appears irreversible.

What's actually most amazing to me isn't anything to do with the healing beams, it's that a viper survives for AGES after firing a bunch of torpedoes....

Station should annilhilate it in seconds... ?

My guess is because they're already focus firing on the FDL's, so not enough firepower to go around.
I suppose FD never planned on needing enough station guns to fire on three ships simultaneously.

While I hate SDC and everything about them, I am forced to agree. Clearly, if the station can't kill you, nothing can, and healing beams need (hardcore) rebalancing.

That is the problem with this particular "feature". SDC, AA, and other groups are all aware of the meta. There is really no breaking it...which is also a point in the video. So the complaint is legit. The delivery is...well...what we all expect from SDC :)

There actually has been some talk about it here as well, but not to the extent as it has been over there in PvP-country (aka Reddit). Doesn't mean it's not a problem though, just that the PvP-groups in the game use other forums for their conversations.

Well since this thread is (still) ongoing I do have a question about the video.
The smart phone doesn't make the best video platform.

The main point was the two FdL's shooting (huge?) healing lasers at each other rendering themselves invulnerable to the station defenses?

And the third ship attacking others (Cmdr's or NPC's?) was just SDC fluff and unrelated to the main point?

The third ship is there to take down the shields of incoming ships with Torpedoes. Then the two FdLs are supposed to target the powerplant of those ships to take them down. Apparantly the station is so busy shooting at the FdLs that it doesn't have the extra capacity to shoot at anything else.

Atleast that's how I understood it from the "instructions"
