Sure, I see your point. My own standpoint is simply that even though I don't particularly go in for a lot of the random murder shenanigans that we see happening associated with SDC and similar groups, I have absolutely zero problems with it. I don't believe a player in this game needs a reason to destroy another CMDR's ship beyond thinking player ships are particularly pretty when they explode. I look at forum bragging of these episodes and the resulting forum salt as a vicious cycle that basically perpetuates itself, and my opinion is weighted towards being sympathetic towards the aggressor because I hate whiners more than anything. And while I don't necessarily ally myself with SDC I consider them pretty much the best group in the game and hold a number of their members as friends. On top of that, most of their hierarchy has been very generous with their time for help with combat theory, tactics and practical training. So they used this video of them blowing up a bunch of CMDR's coming into a station...to me, that's just an amusing side benefit of a generally public spirited mesage. On that note, I've been destroyed numerous times since joining GCI, and each time be it a station gank that caught me unawares, a 1 v 1 duel that disabused me of any notion that I was special, or a full enemy wing intervention in a hot zone where I was flying all alone, it's always been fun, entertaining, and above all instructive.
I do have a pretty thick skin because for me I really enjoy ED as a game, and I don't take myself or it too seriously. And what I've come to really appreciate about the PvP crowd is that these people really enjoy
playing the game
