Resolving the Griefer Issues

PvP flag would break my immersion, which is also why I have to wait an hour for my ship to deliver in a children's video game.

The fact that some of you think that a pvp flag has a chance in hell of being implemented within this design philosophy is demonstrative of the level of ignorance pervasive in this thread and those like it.

This seems like a bad, abusable and corruptible solution to the actual issues: crime and punishment is lackluster, and engineers provides straight upgrades (rather than sidegrades, thus making non-engineered ships incredibly weak). You say there’s been no “real solutions”, which misleadingly implies that previous solutions have failed, when in fact there have been (to my knowledge) no actual implementation of any proposed solutions. There’s thus no need to go to “the next level”.

Both of these issues can be solved via rule/mechanic changes within the game itself that don’t require gifting some players with greater in-game power than others.

How is that triggered? A trigger is usually accompanied by a rant...that wasnt a rant, it was an observation. Fer an example of a rant, one could check yer post history fer numerous examples...just sayin ^

So we're all agreed then, a PvP/PvE flag is the way to go.

Frontier: implement in 2.4 please [yesnod]

Sir ;)

I remember gate camping a hub system in Eve Online many many years ago, thousands and thousands of players were killed. In response, CCP (the devs) sent several Concord battleships manned by the DEVs themselves to clear out the threat..

It has been considered ever since a mistake to interfere with the community in that way.

Too bad no one at FDev is even remotely good at PvP in their own game.

Greetings,

With thousands of posts over a number of years about dealing with griefers with no real solutions why don't we take it to the next level?

We are on a Forum. We have Moderators. From what I have seen they cannot remove a post (or maybe they can but choose not to) but can move posts to the appropriate sub forum and close them when appropriate.

Maybe we should have Moderators in the game as well. They cannot change the status of a player's account but will be flying around in Imperial Couriers with unlimited shielding and massive weapons only the top three ships have access to. In FE2 I had an Eagle with a Plasma Accelerator and a 3000LY jump range. Easy to do in ED. Thus when griefers are identified in a system they are going to have serious issues when the Moderators show up. Community Goals are different but new players getting killed just starting the game or those moments as in the current Beta 2.3 testing when many greifers take advantage of live players they will meet the Moderators.

There is no solution between PvE and PvP. Frontier maybe missed this point. There are different approaches to the game and will always be in conflict. So if we nerf the balance towards PvP maybe Moderators with serious ships could make a difference. Nothing else has worked so far.

Just an idea. Discuss/debate it but if it turns into a yelling fest like so many posts do then I'll ask a Moderator to close it. I do wish when a few people arguing back and forth add so many posts one has to wade through versus intelligent discussion the Moderators could help. But I figure that they are limited. I feel your frustration!

Regards
I guess it's all about the 4th wall and in which side of it you play.

On one side are Players. On the other are the CMDRs.

How do you tell if behavior on the CMDR side is purposely trying to irritate, provoke or upset a player on the player side?

Sometimes it's obvious, but some times not when it comes to piracy, PP, bounties, enemy factions...

If we can't define ingame vs out of game behavior then we certainly can't give people God powers.
