THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Ok no probs.

On another note, does anyone know if the red lights flashing on 2 of the 4 pods at the base of the tower have any significance? (Rift Gamma site). Or are they just power indicators etc?
If it's anything like conflux they mean nothing. Just set even flashing. Tried everything flashing for a code or pattern when still finding the conflux sites and other than the beacons having different timed flashes for different coloured lights, although the same on all 4, they were all just regular flashing lights.

Just one of the straws I tried grasping when hunting those last couple of sites.

Geez the 'Rift Alpha site is annoying with the damn cliff... I've rolled my SRV off it twice now - especially as it's pitch black. Wish I could set my AspX to hover with it's lights aimed at the lower section so I could see where I'm actually going...

Yeay for low G...

I do sometimes wonder why there are Fed aligned pilots following this any way? What would you do with the info anyway? Hand it over to help keep it all quite and secret? Make sure the truth never gets out and that whoever did whatever remains in power and control? Surely trying to uncover something the powers covered up goes against being a good, loyal, jack booted, jar head, doing your day jobs and paying your taxes and never questioning anything? Surely it goes against ensuring your government has full access to everything you know and do for 'security'.

Just wondering.

PS this is a bit RPish so don't all throw a wobbly, Feds.

Sorry ... I took yesterday off and didn't see this until now.

I'm a Federation citizen. I hold no rank in the Federal Navy Auxiliary. I'm a PRIVATE citizen who works on behalf of a Federation corporation. Many of the rumors regarding the Formidine Rift point to the possibility of discovering something massively profitable. My goal is to find it, secure it and exploit the profit potential. From an RP point of view my interest is simply based on rumors and I have no information regarding government cover ups. From a non-RP POV ... I'm just interested in the story. Reclamation isn't just a good ELITE novel ... it's a damn good sci-fi novel. Someone needs to shop it to Netflix or Amazon and get them to develop it into a miniseries.

ED done in a GoT style would be quite epic.

Space ships, politics, pew pew, Aliens - hot babes in skin tight flight suits!!! It's a win all the way!

I’d like to share my thoughts about the Formidine Rift with the you, I read quite an amount of the 4 threads (but not everything of it), so maybe aspects like these have already been written down and I just oversaw them. I also read “Reclamation” from Drew Wagar.

To start, one of the most important quotes from Drew Wager I’d like to cite here again:

“1: Yes, it's in #Elitedangerous to be found. 2. You do not need Horizons. 3. Whether it's found depends on who goes looking.“

I was a bit shocked when thinking about that quote and realizing that he said „You don’t need Horizons.“ and what consequenses it bears within – maybe I’m totally crazy, but does he mean the Elite Dangerous expansion aka “season”, or does he mean a physical horizon, or maybe the spiritual and/or intellectual “horizon” someone has ? If he meant the season or “expansion”, that has some major impact of what we are doing, and therefore it seems to be that we are completely wrong by what we have done/recovered so far:
1. we wouldn’t need ships engineered for jump range (as “Engineers” is included in “Horizons” only and, as Drew mentioned, we don’t need that)
2. we don’t need to search on a planet specifically (as planet landings came up with Horizons also)
3. also, maybe this is a disappointment for some people, “The Guardians” can’t be part of the Formidine Rift mystery as it also is included in Horizons season

From now on this is extreme tinfoil ARMOUR :D some posts ! ! !

If all this is the case regarding the Formidine Rift, we have to fiddle out the whole thing from anew.
As written before, I made my thoughts and would like to share them with you:
- “the one who looks” ((searching for) the Formidine Rift) can see “the whole galaxy hanging there”; someone who has been long alone on such journey could experience the one or other moment where he or she is reflecting herself and her point of view of all things that are, were, and will be
- the old lady spoke from her “heart and soul”, this also is being said when someone talks about the one he’s loving; Was the ship, the Cobra, her love or was it a person – or many “persons” ( -> MANKIND) ? Or did she mean the Heart and Souls nebulae ?
- some posts ago someone mentioned that a rift in english language (I am not an english native speaker, I am from Germany) can also mean a loss/break of a former friendship (love ?); regarding MANKIND that would lead to the following conclusion:

When travelling lonely through space – maybe the old woman tried to escape civilization to cope with an ended friendship or love, or maybe she could not bear warfare and struggling of mankind any more – she came to the conclusion that the most Formidine Rift is the rift between mankind itself: Many factions fighting against each other though belonging to the same species (!), instead of trying to achieve the same goals with combined force, namely to evole mankind, explore the universe and to widen everyone’s horizon and cognition: she sees “the whole galaxy hanging there”, from her (here: astronomical) point of view peacefully for sure, with a tiny point or ball representing the bubble, what means that there is plenty of room and resources for all left for all decades to come – but mankind hasn’t better to do than fighting itself. This could lead her to the sentence “....and we thought the Thargoids would be trouble” – what could mean that worst enemy of mankind would be mankind itself.

The question is, if this should fit in a more or less crude way, regarding the Formidine Rift mystery what aspects does it influence in the game ? If I have a cognition or insight (dont’ know which the correct word to use here, I hope it is clear what I mean), how does it make it into the game (for me as I have an insight) ? No bounties anymore ? No factions playing anymore ? Might there REALLY be something in the game’s galaxy that hasn’t been discovered yet WITHOUT the need of Horizon expansion ?

Well, as said before, these are just my thoughts and I wanted to share them with you. What do you think ?

BLARGH! You made me spit out my wine!!!

Erm... Isn't there meant to be a couple of outposts used as staging posts by CoR a few kLY either side of the RR line somewhere? Or... Is the singing getting to me?

Z...

They were way-points, not outposts, for a patrol of the rift border I believe. Nowadays I think the only man-made structure in that area is a tourist beacon perhaps.

Cheers - just found the related post by Eisen. Just a patch of dirt on a landable planet, though there was somewhere to sell data to, perhaps... Oh well, guess it's to the homeworld in the bubble...

Or wait for 2.3 to release. We're supposed to be getting an asteroid base around the H&S nebulae. I haven't played the beta enough to visit it yet.

I've gone up as far as I can go above the EAFOTS settlements without Jumponium (About 250LY) and not found any earth likes at the moment. I highly doubt I should need to use Jumponium to find beacons, but it is worth noting that there are a lot of G class stars in the EAFOTS sector about 700-750LY up, which are entirely unreachable.

I'm going to hang around this level as there are a few stars up here to investigate, but I suspect our beacons and content are not up quite this high.

Next I'm going to try drawing a line from the EAFOTS bases and follow it up as far as I can. I think that will end up back in Myoidee before I run out of stars.

I'm thinking that everything should be within 200LY of the bases tbh, as that's the area we were given to investigate in the CG, and the bases themselves are really close together by that comparison.

I always have too much at achieve in the real game to do that sort of thing in Beta... I'd rather fly back to bubble in time than spend the same time to fly to the Rift. I kinda want to get my Elite in Combat, been stuck on Dangerous 34% for... since last year!

Keep your eye in the sky, and all that.

There are a few ELWs higher up, been scanned, nada, yea you need jumponium for them.

Just to report in from the depths of the Rift. I've started my return journey to the EAFOTS sector from the NGC 1491 Nebula. Apart from a system with a water world and a system with a single O class star, there's nothing particularly noteworthy about the Nebula. I do, however, find it really strange that all the surrounding sectors are almost completely untagged, but the NGC 1491 Sector is almost completely tagged. Someone went through a lot of effort to not scan anything on the way to this nebula lol.

Did you go within 1kls of every object in the nebula systems? I'm heading there, about 1kly away.

I noticed this nebula lines up very nicely if you trace a ray normal to the settlement systems.
