PLEASE help me here...am I suffering a severe and personal case of stupidity here?[yesnod]... apparently there are only a few ED players left in the world and I am one of them!:O I play on a PC but not via steam.... is that important?[where is it] Should I feel embarrassed to be one of the few remaining players who still find interesting stuff to do in ED?
Are only negative posts on this forum allowed these days... should I ramp up the negativity just to fit in?

Same tired old crap as you always come out with. Throw shade, don't even have the guts to admit it when you get pulled on it and then make out that the other guy is the one with the problem. Yawn. Am I misremembering or are you not only an adult but also ex-military? Frankly I'd have expected a little more maturity and if not that, at least a set of stones. It's not what you said so much as your refusal to own it. Looks like it's my day for disappointments.

Once a marine, you a marine, a soldier is a soldier, once earned it's for life. Period, but you wouldn't know that obviously. Clearly, you are salty or you wouldn't have to resort to a poor comparison between what I do in real life and how I convey a discussion on this forum board about a spaceship video game and justify it on your "45 years of education".

And yet somehow you are still arguing that Steam is a valid metric for determining how many players are still active? Make up your mind.
The current CG shows more player participation than the Steam graph would lead you to believe are playing the game. Just the CG. Never mind the players not participating.
ED has an older demographic than most games, or I'd be fairly confident in assuming this to be the case. I don't play through Steam. Every time one of these threads pops up, there's no shortage of players saying the same thing.
This has nothing to do with defending FD. It Just shows that Steam charts are not a reliable indicator of this game's population.

If you get a spare moment, you might want to take notice of the fact that I neither asked you to agree with me nor to respect my opinion though. In fact I didn't even ask you to respect my right to it. I just pointed out that you're flat-out wrong in suggesting that I'm some kind of white knight. Christ it's only about two months back I was having this conversation in reverse with someone who said I only ever posted negative stuff, what a time to be alive. I don't give a toss whether you agree with my opinion about any aspect of the game or not, I don't come here for an echo chamber.
You've also assembled about four different things I wrote into an argument that you're now imagining/suggesting that I made in order to refute it, classic strawmanning. To recap; I used the word 'extrapolate' in a post, you were triggered by it for some reason and made a bizzare post about people using dictionaries, in which you also said I was a white knight. I pointed out that I'm not even close to being one and that you were being a bit of a tool, moreso than I would have expected from someone with your background and whom I know is capable of having discussions without this lame crap.
I didn't flame you on your real life choices. At all. Mentioning your former career doesn't equate to flaming you for it. Nor did I 'justify it on my 45 years of education'. I said that I'm 45 and have a decent education in an earlier post, in reference to your apparent amazement that I'd used a word with more than two syllables. Not even getting into the imagined slight that you created to prompt your 'once a marine always a marine' rant; you know full well that no matter how much camaraderie you may feel and have earned as a member of that elite band, the vast majority of people would recognise the phrase 'former military' as meaning nothing more than 'no longer an active member of the service'.

Literally all of this crap has originated from me telling someone that he didn't have any figures for the number of players who play the game on PC and not through Steam. That's what my post was about. I couldn't be salty about this if I tried, it's too bizarre; I'm just completely bemused by it to be honest.

Oddly some people just like to be offended. Similarly some people just like to find baseless crap to argue about. Some critical thinking, actual reasoned analysis and factual research could do so much toward avoiding 37 page forum threads about spurious slights against A COMPUTER GAME. Yikes.

Although I don't really think the game is dieing I do admire those who have come on here to white knight the game.
I would imagine 90+% of the players who play would use steam and those figures are reasonably accurate showing how many players have the launcher open. I have no idea why so many of you are anti Steam, it is a great platform for buying games and is no more invasive that this forum in tracking you.. Too many tin foil hat users on this forum tbh.
Really big deal to what Steam says, ED it is no where near a super popular game but it has its niche market and by the look of those numbers it still has a core group of players.
FD realise this which is why they firstly went to xbox and then to PS4 because they are trying to widen their net so to speak..
Don't panic guys just because some meany on the internet says your fav game isn't going well doesn't mean it won't be here tomorrow..
