God, I've just had a stupid theory. What if some fan with enough liquid cash did buy a pack just to refund it afterwards? The funding tracker doesn't show refunds, so the bump is permanent, and a theoretical backer gets his money back.

Ok, fine, it really is a stupid theory.

If that cash was a bit mucky before, it would now be squeaky clean. [money]

LOL!! This is so bloody obvious now, it's not even funny. Funding flatline? Stuff it with a fake $15K Completionist

It's not as stupid as you think. Especially if it's CIG doing this. You did read this article, right?

Hold on a mo, i mean, there is no proof that its a fake package. What interests me more is if that is showing an average $600 investment per hour as a flatline. Firstly, that's damn suspicious by itself in terms of how stable that is by the hour (almost like they have set zero to show as 500+), or, if indeed accurate, it would imply there is a steady stream of people, still backing after all these years, and with a nice smooth average of approx $600 per hour. I find it very hard to believe there can still be such a steady stream of funding, people getting on board, or buying new ships at this stage.

I'm all for saying that CIGs marketing is a little shady, i don't think its fair when people say they are scammers or other names, but this chart, even without the 15k package, has set alarm bells off for me.

We've known for some time now that it's rubbish. I've said so in various blogs, complete with metrics. I've even called it downright fraudulent because credible sources have told me this. Unfortunately, the only way we get to find out, is when State and/or Fed officials get involved, or there is a lawsuit - which then puts all of it into discovery.

If somebody had the time and the inclination, it might be interesting to see some proper statistical analysis of the SC funding data. In particular, I'd like to see some data concerning how funding varies over the 24-hour cycle (and the weekly one for that matter). Does the long trend show much evidence of the variation you might expect with uneven distribution of buyers over different time zones (it is highly unlikely that buyers for this game buck the general trend for a game market dominated by the U.S. and Europe)? And as for the strange spikes, are they randomly distributed, or is there some sort of pattern? The data certainly looks a little odd, but some concrete analysis might settle the question.

Haha, of course I don't read your blogs, but I get the gist of the claim inside. In my stupid theory a theoretical backer would buy a completionist package just to refund it afterwards, to generate a spike in CIG's funding chart without permanently spending his own cash. This would only help with the real cash flow, but for someone who cares about the appearance of CIG's funding not slowing down it's better than nothing.

Funny. And then you have people claiming that it is Elite that is the stinker

Don't forget, Star Citizen is now both a subscription MMO and P2W.

Dude don't you think it's time to move on? If and when it all goes belly up you get to say "I told you so" etc. but for the love of God - let it go.

Come off it, the great collapsening will trigger even more internet based comedic hilarity.

Asp won't know where to point his lulzbucket.

The real obsessive's write a seventy comment thread in their hate-sub about Derek's tweet of a single six word sentence.

Does he even play ED or does he just use the forum to bash SC? This is a grown man we are talking about! I used to come here to find out what was going on with SC as I am too lazy / disinterested to venture over to Reddit or RSI anymore- But it's just a toxic cesspool of bitter comments and snide remarks here now! The thread should be closed IMO as it contributes nothing of value to either game and the smell is wafting over to the main forum section!

He is fighting the powers of evil. Let him be.

Listen I'm all for freedom of speech and a grown mans right to wear hoop earrings, just go do it someplace else! I'm no fan of SC - I guarantee I gave them a Tonass more money than DS did, but
1. I'm rich
and
2. I have a life.

On the slim off chance that SC actually does get it together I'd like to be able to come here and find out about it... instead of trawling through toxic brain farts written by people who are old enough to know better. The Frontier forums are in steady decline as all good forums inevitably become when the unwashed masses invade, but there has to be a line. If I were Frontier I'd just get rid of anything non-elite dangerous related at this point because nothing positive is coming out of it.

So we have a guy who suspects a large company of being less than honest with it's customers money, and is trying to bring this to the attention of as many people as possible.

And you want to shut him up?
