THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Attempt to retrace the Formidine Rift Beta/Gamma Expeditions. Day 7.

Today I backtracked to the point that the star density allowed a full 1KLY plot again (albeit needing 50 jumps for my 33LY range, strangely now 33.00 rather than 33.05 before the recent software upgrade...). On this part of the day's journey I had my only finding of significance today: the (previously known) Earth-like World MYOIDEAU GX-L D7-3 7. Alert for beacons or signal sources, I spent about 15 minutes in low orbit but encountered no signs of the Beta expedition, nor any signs of orbital bombardment. The planet is very warm for an Earth-like (319 K) and has a thin atmosphere (0.59 bars) but the scenery showed plenty of lush vegetation and a mix of large continents separated by oceans and many small archipelagos and islands. At least I got some nice images to bring back with me.

Having completed the 1KLY distance along the outer edge of the Perseus Arm, I finished the day just over 2800LY from the Abandoned Settlements. Even so, I feel like I have come in the wrong direction and have travelled too far to one side. I think I am not far from a suitable place to cross to the Outer Arm and I might nevertheless attempt it tomorrow, however I have encountered very few systems lately without a first discovery tag and it is discouraging to know that so many have come this way and not found anything.

I have tried discord, doesn't work on my phone and I dont have a PC. My experience was an hour trying to get it working then never bothering with it again. If I need to communicate I use Xbox party chat, or in-game comms. That seems to work ok for me, but discord is pretty popular..

Your next theory/gripe/statement must begin with an "I feel ..." statement. As an alternative, "it makes me feel..."

Ex. "I feel angry when I think of how many hours I spent looking for settlements."

"It makes me feel sad when I think of Kahina's dead family."

Just kicking some neurons loose to jog new perspectives.

General consensus - Achenar or Sol? Both have fair reasons why they could be the end point, although I still am not sure that the event will be locked behind a permit. Seems like people would have to miss out if thats the case and I dont believe that is the intention. I still do not want to forget about Acamar as a possible candidate, as it is the original end of Eridanus before the brighter star of Achenar was added much later in history. One other thought that comes to mind is the possibility of Prism having importance. That is where Salomés story began, could it be where this chapter ends? Not sure at the moment where Prism sits in relation to Eridanus as I'm not in-game currently to check the Galmap but could be worth checking?

I bounce on what has just been quoted above regarding Achenar:

if I am not mistaking , Kahina found something while on Achenar when she disapeared all of a sudden.....so perhaps Achenar has a good point for it.... On the other hand Drew said having a Sol permit would be useful some day.....

I am not deep enough into the book in order to voice an opinion regarding Salomé being an AI.

But I hope she is , else she might die from laughing before the event , watching at us running in every directions like chickens after seeds....;)

I am an explorer just getting ready to head back out after making some improvements in the ship. What does the Rift community need a seasoned hardcore deepspace explorer like me to do? I have a crapton od jumponium to burn, baby. Just point me to an unexplored zone...

Don't know if anybody has been there, would expect so, but as a spiral our galaxy has a start at sag A and an end out at end of the outer arm. Has anybody been there? If not getting to the end of the galaxy might be something to challenge you.

I feel that Kahina found something in Sol, possibly on Mars but more likely at the outer gas giants (see the Galnet reports of her Sol tour) which somehow tied in with Reclamation. But I have no idea what or where.

I feel as though we might need a clearer start location clue.

Ahh yes, the federation. Cradle of democracy, but happy to let fed corporations invade independent democratic star systems and then enforce their rules on them as well as making sure it then remains a fed system. I'm waiting for a bit of honesty when they launch the FNS Hypocrisy
