Congratulations everyone, Ive been following the evolution of the mystery here for the last week or so, and now I'm hooked. Looking forward to Drew's Q&A with Obsidian now, and then to see what happens on the 29th...shame I have no Sol permit.

RECORDING

We managed to overpower the invaders. but not before
they took out the main reactor. We're dead in space. with
twenty minutes of life support left. Didn't get nothing out
of them before they died, but clearly it was all planned.
They took a drug which killed them. Doc says it's
nicknamed 'Hexedit'. First it kills your memories, then it
kills you. Neat and tidy.

So we're dead, just waiting for the end. This will be the last
log from the Zurara. Some of the crew have already killed
themselves. Others are praying to whatever deity they
believe might help them. A few are drinking themselves
into oblivion. I don't know what will get us first the lack of
oxygen or the cold. Battery power is about to die.

We all signed up for the promise of big payouts, a year of
your life in exchange for enough to retire on. I guess I
should have looked closer at it, but you would have
probably done the same, right? No need to work again.
What's clear now is whoever was behind this mission
never intended for any of us to come back.

The folks managing the cargo, jees, they were all psychos.
The moment we completed the mission they just
'snapped'. Killed the ship and killed themselves. Some
kind Of mental conditioning. Doc said. We tried to get word
out to the other vessels when we found out. We got a
signal out. but I don't know if anyone received it. It will
probably freak them out. I don't think they know we're
here.

We dropped a series of beacons out here, all targeted
around Earth-like or terraformable worlds We prepped
some of the terraform candidates with seeders and
biofilters. No one can figure out why it was necessary. but
that was the mission. Just as we were turning back...
boom, those cargo-handlers went nuts.

There were several GalNet articles related to Salomé that didn't get much attention and were quickly forgotten.
Even more so for some of the other news that weren't blatantly, absolutely obvious related to the mysterious stuffs ingame.

Thinking outside the box a bit, Lave was where *players* started in the original, but in terms of the game development itself, it would have almost certainly been in Cambridge.

A while back there were Galnet posts regarding unusual ship movements at Cambridge spaceport in Sol, and if memory serves Salome herself visited Sol in order to use the observatory in...Cambridge.

Coincidence? Maybe...maybe not.

Nope. Kahina landed at Cambridge spaceport & there was absolutely no mention of her visiting any observatory anywhere.

Props to Fdev for enhancing the end result with the new v2.3 capabilities too. We thought it would be more interesting this way.

Maybe not explicitly, but landing in Cambridge (which contains a large radio telescope) and then travelling to London (site of the observatory) to meet an Ambassador Waite, on the date of the vernal equinox no less...I dunno.

FWIW, I did a spot of google-fu on 'Ambassador Waite', and came up with a man called Hunter Waite, currently working for NASA.
Nothing out of the ordinary there right?
Until you read that he designs and builds mass spectrometers for use in space applications, and that the thing he is looking forward to most in his career is, and I quote:
"Putting MASPEX on the Clipper spacecraft and returning with MASPEX to Enceladus"

Feds have asked me to transport slaves too and it was admiral ranking mission from fed controlled system, I didn't believe the talks about the rotten core and hypocricy of the federation at first, then I got it in the face. Regarding the empire, those monsters managed to be even worse still, implementing genocide as a method of colonising already settled words and considering it their right. Loren family is guilty of one of those and Kahina's involvement should sure be investigated. By someone able to conduct fair process that is, surely not by criminal regimes like empire or corrupt federal bureacrats. And there is no harm in listening what she's got to say first now, is it?

From the video (6:24 approx) and reference to waypoints for 3 different zones. This corresponds with what Sacra Oculus revealed as matching 3 different invasion points [disclosed May 3302 (2016)] which is based on the old Lore from previous games.
