THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Hi gentle folks of the Rift,

I''ll try to be at 46 Eridani on the 29th, with an iCourier if RL lets me... She has 660 boost, 30ly range, 2A interdictor and above average shields. No weapons though! Just to harass people who dare lay a finger on our Lady Kahina!

I think this event will be a total chaos with instancing problems, random PVPers looking to grief anyone who passes by, and players in general wandering around not knowing what to do, like me. But i think it will be fun and worth it!

I also have a couple of thoughts i want to share with you guys:

Not long ago, there was this CG demanding tantalum in the Prism system, and because it didnt reach higher tiers due to lockdown problems, i remember Drew posting something like hoping it's enough tantalum. Enough tantalum for what?
This must be related with the upcoming event for sure. What was all that tantalum for? Well, we know that tantalum is used for FSD drives components.

Also that meteorite that disappeared from somewhere not long ago? Maybe the tantalum was to build a huge FSD drive for it. Maybe it's going to be there at 46 Eridani, or at the final destination, wherever that is...

Somehow i suspect that this all related with the upcoming event.

What you guys think?

I think it's going to turn into one complete F fest, with every ganker and their mother in sight HELL BENT on destroying everything they see just because they can... and don't forget Multicrew so they can bring their dog along as well.

I think that it's unrelated to the Formidine Rift. Why would they want us to go out to permit-locked space, hundreds of light-years from where the Zurara was found and the Formidine Rift activity is really happening? It's a little closer to Heart and Soul, and the settlements nearby, sure -- But not really justified at all. Unless there's some major game-changer being planned and unveiled at 46 Eridani, I don't see why it's related or how it even could be. Just because Salami is there and all of her cult followers?

The only logical reason it could be there and yet still be related to Formidine mysterys is because it's closer to the bubble and they want more player interaction and involvement.

If it is indeed a pathway that's being followed, I doubt it would go near to Formidine because of the sheer distance.

If anyone's out that way, what's there that may interest us besides permit-locked systems?

This!

This!

Well, I've got some ships out that way, so I'll try and fight the good fight, perhaps others can too. I don't mind seeing the rebuy screen especially for something like this. Fairly sure this thread membership outweighs any amount of gankers in game, both in numbers and firepower.

I reckon a little fighter or sidey eagley should be able to duck in and out of the mayhem, maybe we all rename our ships salome to confuse the opposition.

I don't doubt it, i'm sure if we all teamed up we would conker. Thing is, i assume that most of us here are more inclined towards exploration rather than PVPing, but that's only me assuming.

And i can also guarantee that everyone in this thread has that special 'murderboat' sitting in there garage... ahem, station, that they use every so often, Me included. Thing is, there are people out there who do nothing but pirate, gank, murder and co operate. My point being is if a huge pirate clan or multiple clans get wind and decide to jump in, that's when it turns into a fest.

I can just see it being bad to be honest, i don't care about the rebuy's. I'm hoping there is more light shed nearer to the time to what the hell is going to happen

Hi lovely people, quick question, i smartly started trekking out towards your newest find in a quite heavy 40ly ASPx without checking the route first. Now looking at the galmap has me in doubts, if i'm actually able to make it all the way to the Zukara (yes i saw the similar question just a few posts ago about a dbx, but to be honest all that i could make of the answers was that you can upgrade a dbx to ~ 50ly easily) - hence my question, would i be able to go all the way in my 40ly ship or are there any gaps that would be too far? (7x fsd boost on board as well as a srv if more is needed)
Thanks.

If the Event On The 29th involves an escape pod, I wonder if the old cargo duplication bug is still in?

It can't??

If there's 20 instances, the pod just appears in one (lucky) instance? And the CMDRs in the other 19 see nothing?

And if there's a pod in each instance and in half it's captured and in the other half shot to pieces?

At 40Ly you'll be fine, just cross the gap at the Heisenberg Bridge and you shouldn't have any trouble.

Didn't the old lady say that whatever she encountered was even worse than the Thargoids?

No.

She said "and they thought the Thargoids were trouble". And whist you could interpret that as something worse, it can also cover a much more broad range of possibilities that has nothing to do with other species.

You should be ok, but you might have to take a little detour when you are passed the abandoned settlements in the rift. In between the settlements and The Zurara there is a bit of a 'No Mans Land' where the stars start thinning out. From the settlements, i would suggest taking the upper edge of the rift and circling around towards The Zurara, you will see what i mean when you arrive there.

Good luck, it's worth the travel!

Let's do some crazy speculation just as a mental exercise.
...
There they are, and if ... for UA (and if ...) this technology is not Alien, for Sirius reverse engineering ???
...

Great post!

"We prepped some of the terraform candidates with seeders and biofilters. No one can figure out why it was necessary..."
UA = seeder (spoiler reference skipped). Seeders of what?
Life or poison? Biofilters to distinguish humans from aliens?

Where is my hat?

If you go on a straight line you'll have a few problems for the last 1.5k LY. I reached "PHOI AESCS JD-i C23-0" and then made a small deviation through "PHOI AESCS ZR-J C22-0" and "SYREADIAE UB-G B17-0". I was on 52LY capable ship though, so I can't tell you for sure if this path is good for your ASP. However the sector around "PHOI AESCS ZR-J C22-0" seems quite fill with stars so you might be ok. Have fun!

Nice job at deciphering the location for the Zurara. I've plotted course now, 23 jumps to go, so tomorrow I'll make it there. I'm curious :).

I haven't been following all the stories closely, through I'm close to finishing the Elite Reclaimation book for now.

use the heisenberg crossing, biggest jump is below 33ly.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...FiI7YqGtPATAO3XJG82o-Iy-hQ/edit#gid=349275048

then fly into the outer arm where the star density is high.

if you are afraid of not being able to reach the zurara then go to HYPO ABE AB-N B34-0. there are 2 planets that have germanium and vanadium so you'd have 50ly with the basic boost and thats more than enough to reach it.

New interview with Drew Wagar on ObsidianAnt's glorious channel! Not sure if this will be answer any questions but it's a good listen whilst travelling around the rift.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAEbzCtKs9U

ObsidianAnt is a mysterious being. Is he genuinely british, or just putting on a really bad british accent and sounding like a creep on purpose?

Good interveiw with Drew though, Will have a nice listen whilst I'm plotting these bookmarks for the Bridge..

This never made sense to me. The context of that phrase is always that the thing you thought was bad, is not as bad as this other thing. That's literally the definition of calling something worse.
