THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

All. Decision made. We are *ON* for the 29th.

Cheers,

Drew.

Love it :D

I was expecting the opposite to be honest judging from the votes on the thread you made Drew. Still curious though on how this is going to work.

So 46 Eridani is the starting point, that i know. What then? do we just follow her and try to defend her from the onslaught of people out to kill her?

I assume everyone in this thread is willing to defend Salome?

What ship will everyone be using?

Sorry for the noobish questions, but in the 900 hour's i have played ED i have never taken part in anything like this!

The best defense for Salome and all these NPC's is heal beams so if anyone has them and wants Salome to survive, you know what to do.

Is there anyone out near the Zurara looking for Earth-likes? I'm thinking about visiting the ship, and might as well get some useful ELW and star data out there, but it would be good to know if anyone else is already doing this.

As I have no chance to play on the weekend of the 29. and take part in the event I decided to head out to the Zurara. I have no Idea if I have a chance to catch up. But it could be nice to be on the route with likeminded explorers.

I was wondering that too!

Yours Sincerely,

Neil.

Hipshot explanation:

Because we all are (or better be) fans of 'Heroes', featuring the epic Hiro Nakamura, who goes by the name of Yuri here.

Besides, it's a strong Meme. We use it daily for all kinds of things among my colleagues. So save her already!

Cheers!

Or just have a beer.

Guess you have to develop some tics upon reaching middle age, and, if possible, even start wearing a hat. So I sign all my posts with that noob smile, and Stetson's are my favorites. YMMV :)

In one week, auto-da-fé ! Let's burn some witch and cultists !

Yep, nothing of note will happen while people have left their home systems, nothing is planned and there is absolutely zero chance that groups would use Salome as a tempting distraction.

On another note I'm surprised that player groups haven't started offering bounties of their own, like prematurely assigning a bounty to the people that attack/destroy Salome.

Hell I could offer a better bounty than THE EMPIRE has and I consider myself close to bankrupt.

Or nuke the opposition from orbit, it's the only way to be safe.

Bad luck? You decide.

Located the Fed Merope base (Alcazar's Hope) & ordered the Gunship here. More ships to follow during the week.

Yes, both Feds and Imps got a shipyard in the Pleiades since 2.3. The Imp one is called Ceres Tarn.

'Save the Cheerleader, save the World" vs. 'Send in the Clowns'. This will get interesting.

Will be heading out there soon! First need to make a couple stops, Getting Meta-Alloys at Maia if possible then heading to Felicia to see what upgrades I can get, THEN I'll be heading out providing I have suitable jump range.

The systems you are referring to were only colonised in 3301, as a result of the first exploration CG in Lambda Andromedae. It is certainly interesting that they point towards the Rift (and that Sirius was behind the construction of the stations) and in hindsight could be taken as a hint to explore further in that direction. The names of the systems (changed from what they had been prior to the CG) might also provide a hint as to the nature of the Rift. The Zurara was lost 30 years before this, though, so there's no causal relation there.
.
The 'Galactic Hyperdrives' from the first Elite are, I think, canon (as they are mentioned in Drew's lore summary of Hyperspace https://www.drewwagar.com/lore/elite-dangerous-lore-hyperspace/ ) but they might have led to other parts of our own galaxy, rather than others. No one knows where those destinations were/are in relation to the Elite: Dangerous galaxy, although permit-locked sectors might provide possible locations.

They were called "The Wredguia Colony Cluster".
I'm not in game at moment but if you plug in the old names i believe they should still take you there.

Probably going to defend (Salami).... my combat python, Id be glad if I get 1 or 2 kills before i explode...I will risk my life in the name of a fair trial and justice.

Thanks for the data.

The 9 systems chosen to act as new homes to Sirius Corporation colonists are:

Wredguia SX-L D7-92
Plotted this, it comes right after Sothis. Remains un-named, though. This is now the furthest system from the bubble on my map, before getting to the Heart/Soul asteroid bases.

Wredguia SX-L D7-91
Now named "Sothis".

Wredguia WD-K D8-66
Now named "Ceos".

Wredguia QA-N b34-4
Now named "Robigo".

Wredguia XD-K d8-78
Now named "Algamest".

Sirius Outposts

Gliese 97.2
Is this a system name? I can't find it.

Plotted. Falls in with the line. Was the outpost given a specific name or is it seemingly random?

Col 285 Sector WA-L b9-3
Now named "Te Kaha".

CAO Junga
Plotted. Is this the start point of the Sirius colonization line?

The line's quite clear now. Did Sirius colonize any further out, or is it nothing until Zurara from Sothis/SX-L D7-92

Folks, an FAQ for the #elitedangerous event on the 29/04/2017 https://www.drewwagar.com/announcements/29-04-3303-faq

Cheers,

Drew.

Can I just say that the wording on your post in the directive makes it sound as you actively encourage people to kill Salome et al:

"Do not engage in communications. Show no mercy. Kill them all on sight."

Might it be wise to add something along the line of "this is an imperial directive" to make it clear that the KOS order is not coming from you or FDEV but from the major faction?

A more in detail view of the Zurara. Most observations were made by CMDR Eric Alsteif, I was just moving the ship around taking screenshots :)

Theres a brief description of every shot inside the album.

[IMGUR]qGR9r[/IMGUR]

I visited last night. For a ship that lost power and life support, it sure had a lot of lights on. Also, how did the ring keep spinning? Ghosts pushing it? And why were engines still glowing? For a ghost ship, it appeared remarkably healthy.

I tried lasers on those hatches, to no effect.

Spoilers below.

Also I noticed there is an ambient sound that plays when you get close to the ship. I wonder if it bears spectral analysis? I'm on XBOX so I cannot really get a capture of the sounds, but someone should.

They mention placing beacons at nearby earthlike an terraformable worlds, but none of the candies I have found so far have any such beacons.

The audio says the cargo handlers went insane and shut down the ship. What kind of cargo did they have? UPs? Sounds like what happens to stations that bring UP aboard. I wonder if meta-alloys could be used to repair this thing.

Hey marx! Good to see ya. Yeah, this being part of the "South Galaxy", guess who is down here explorin' for candies? Yarrr!

Yuri Grom's containment missile is nasty... Also, a wing full of engineered plasmas, rails and bugged pack-hounds...

As far as I know, Salome is in a Clipper and Raan is in a iEagle. Both are probably modded for speed.
If they don't actively seek combat, they will be able to avoid those weapons quite easily.

Bodyguards in big slow ships may be in more trouble from those.

Just remember that for each friendly that squeeses into the instance, there will be room for one less foe.
Just stay alive.
