THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

They could just like greek names for things, who knows. Just because it shares a language origin, does that mean it should be considered connected? Why would a dead ship be named after a werewolf, then?

If I knew WHY Drew was naming things with Greek mythological references then I'd have solved the Rift mystery by now!
Frankly, I'd be disappointed if he isn't throwing at least some red herrings into the mix.

Don't you DARE start thinking Mons Olympus on Mars (Home of the Gods...and most of the corps, because if it was Greek it would be Ares)

Mind you, if we start messing with myths and the game...Fenris was a wolf that ate the moon (Norse myth) and the moons of Mars are missing (?)....I'm gonna go and have a lie down. My tinfoil hat hurts.

Well if we're looking at Ares, then maybe look at his son Deimos (whose Roman equivalent is Formido).
There's a whole big rabbit hole I've been running around in for the last 18 months, so I tend to get twitchy when anything Greek shows up

You all need some higher grade tin foil :p

I can fully understand that.

And as regards Red Herrings...Salome is a red herring. Everyone is lining up to stop or save her, and seem to have forgotten that there is an entire shipfull of murdered people floating in the rift, and if she's stopped by us players, we'll never know whodunnit, and that makes us accessories after the fact to murder. If you cover up a murder, you are defacto complicit in that murder.

You say that now, but you'll feel different come the 29th when Salome rocks up in Tartarus system to expose the hidden INRA base ;)

It wasn't Salome who found the Zurara (or whatever it's called). The mystery will be solved with or without Salome.

True. Seems the usual way this kind of thing is handled these days is to encrypt the whole lot of it, and have a dead-man switch that reveals the password if something happens to them.

Might take longer but the information still gets out.

Bit annoyed that the Gen ship gets a more realistic look, Zarura was fully working when it should have been dead.

It seems that the Rift mystery isnt as important as Fdevs story plotting.

No wonder Drew is pulling his hair out, I'm sure both storys are great but I think Fdev have rushed the rift mystery into submission so they can move on quickly. I can understand their reasons but its a bit disappointing being a rifter.

At the same time it gives us another conspiracy to work on, Black Net will be all over this.

I really don't follow the criticism that the Zarura should be "dead". The ship has only been out there unmanned for, what? 33 years or so? Voyager I, based on 20th century technology, is still operating at over 39 years and won't begin shutting down it's scientific instruments until 2020. A ship built in the 33rd century can't keep the lights on for 30 years without someone around to wind the spring? I don't think so. Unless the crew were to deliberately power the ship down I'd expect many of the core components to continue operating for ages to come.

On the other hand the Generation Ship is close to 1,000 years old. Built on inferior 24th century technology.

I don't think that nuclear bombs would be that effective. The blast of the bomb is probably ignorable in space and the radiation might not be enough. Without any real information about the pathogen doing anything could result in a disaster.

I'm off buying some Heike Ceremonial Tea…

Nuke it is a term, doesnt mean nuclear bombs. It means to blow something up out of existence

Sure, it could just be coincidence that the Gen Ship was given the name of a Greek mythological figure.
It might just be coincidence that it's shown up now, in the middle of all kinds of revelations about what the powers have been up to.

It's still, however, something worth mentioning, in the light of all the other Greek mythological references we've seen.

I concur, as a Rifter we rule out nothing and over complicate everything !!!

I'm just over here believing the contagion has ties to the Guardian bioweapons...and maybe we can use thermonuclear warheads? Or what was that thing from Enders Game? The Doctor?

I know !! Its because everything post Egyptian civilisation ( when the aliens built the pyramids ) was named by the greeks. Its why they knew about stars and the galaxy and knew the earth was round. Its why everything as we know it is named after Greek references.

The Greeks wanted to own the situation after the pyramid building aliens left the Egyptians with their pyramids and utilised it to gain control and power. So they renamed everything the Egyptians knew and gave it a story that common folk could understand.

There you go, Drew is a believer !!!

How about this for tinfoil - Gottlieb pinball machines, the last single player machine was "Asteroid Annie and the Aliens" [alien]

Gotta say after visiting this ship as well as the Zurara, I am really impressed with them. The sounds, ship details and the voice logs are incredible. All welcome additions and a really cool way to tell a story. +1 rep FDev, thankyou o7

This is unacceptable soldier

"Its that thingy at the bottom just copy and paste mine and put in your Signature "

As you were Soldier ooohhrarrr

I think I figured it out, I do apologize to everyone for mucking up this thread with my incompetence. Long story short, the Lycaon is a disease-infested threat to humanity and must be eliminated. Also, Fleet 3 FTW (just saying)
