Patch Notes Update Update 2.3.01

Well then. I managed to patch the game client ok. Tried playing and guess what happened? I will tell you. Game cratered and hung on me until I got the Black Death screen and dumped back to main menu. All I was trying to do was drop from SC to normal space. I thought quite negatively then that nothing has changed. But I persevered and restarted the game and since then no more crashes. Does this fill me with hope? Not yet. I need to fully test this patch and see if it stops the Mission Board from loading consistently and the constant Adjudication server crashes. Only then will I stop being so salty. I was always supportive of Frontier until this last 2.3 patch hit us. I was always full of praise despite not liking CQC and PP so much. These I could ignore. But this latest update hit me personally too hard. So my negativity will persist until I see Frontier take notice of the people spending their time testing the BETA releases in their online gaming time to help the masses of people who play and cannot BETA test. Instead many people's feedback was ignored and we all suffered with a bugged release that should never have happened. Frontier at this time do not deserve a pat on the back and praise heaped on them all. Someone at Frontier needs a talking to for doing this to us. Salty! I can dish out a lot more than this and none of my saltiness is based on conjecture. These are only my own feelings and meanings. Say what you want I just don't care about the nay Sayers on this forum.

I care a great deal about this game. I am passionate about it and spent a lot of time playing it. I still care about this game and my passion for it has not diminished. Stop messing with parts of the game that are not broken. Start fixing what needs fixing before adding more frustrating content.

My hope one day is that my Avatar can walk around in FPS perspective and walk around my ship. Walk around stations and use the transit facilities. Land on atmosphere planets and see wild creatures and cities full of life.

What I don't need more of is dead content.

Regarding the galaxy map and being able to zoom out/in for selecting book marked places....................Sorry but i disagree, I have just stopped playing having a bit of a check/see how the updates went.....what your problem is,, must be on your system, because I dont have that issue

Everyone has the issue Rusty is talking about. It's why the galaxy map loads faster in 2.3 than it did in 2.2, it's now only loading systems around the selection circle, not the cursor anymore. You need to physically drag your blue circle over to the area of a friend or a bookmark in order to highlight or select the system. It was an "optimization" made for 2.3, and yeah it loads faster, but we did lose some functionality of the galaxy map, and I do not think we are getting it back.

Doing Passenger Missions, opening the Transactions tab and then opening the galaxy map places the circle at the correct system, but the star is not visible and the plotting options box does not open. The only way to get to the target system is to open the search box and type in the target system name.

Another great patch success...

Works fine on regular missions. Borked on passenger runs.

I know, I know ... it's complicated and I could never understand how or why this could happen.

Correct - I'll never understand how something like this could happen. I couldn't program something like this on purpose.

LOL Company arrogantly mocks customer base with salt comment, and the fan-base doesn't get it. Love it! Forums here are far more entertaining than the game. Lot more content too. OT: nice patch  , seems to be causing many new problems while fixing only a few. Think I'll continue to skip playing this release.

Quite frankly, a business directing a snide remark at their entire customer base comes off as rather unprofessional, if not a touch petulant. I do like how the video game industry tends to engender a more informal relationship between company and customer, but it only goes so far.

Oh grow a funny bone you sad little individual. Life is much better if you don't take everything so seriously.

Are you in the UK by any chance?
I'm not, but I was wondering if the NHS wouldn't cover having that stick removed.

LOL. Well if they don't cover that procedure, I hope they at least cover the cost of the ointment for treating that epic BURN ;).

Nope, I did the temp fix wrong.

I have it all up and running again, but dann that was a pain I the .

Glad to hear you got through it. I finally got going too after ignoring the instructions on the support site  and trusting my own instincts, LOL

Anyway...update has been quite stable for me. GalMap issue is fixed and I didn't notice the star texture issue, though I wasn't paying super close attention (I suppose it didn't load in such a way that was distracting). Wasn't able to test the far away CMDR dropping FPS in Open Mode as none of them were playing

i think they were pretty much saying they noted the fact most of the community were mad and it was their humorous way to say sorry and they for sure got the feedback

GalMap issue is fixed

I'm not sure what they fixed, but there sure are a bunch of problems.

You can't click on markers anymore to get to a system far away. Pick any passenger mission, open the map from the tab - you get a nice circle, but can't select or plot to it.

Maybe they fixed something, but so far I'm only seeing new bugs.

Very sad.

Hmm, I'll try it out. Is there a bug thread for it already where I can put my findings?

For me, the issue of the info popup showing up on the wrong system when I search for another system appears to be resolved.

Multi-Crew
  • Fix for non-helm players ending up in the pilot chair when dropping out of supercruise
  • Addressed an issue that led to incorrect bounty share messages being displayed during a Multicrew session
  • Increased crew payments: voucher scaling now tops out at 80% of helm earnings (previously 50%)

Lol . Make it 100%, Now. This is plain dumb, wing have 100% profits.

This looks close

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-from-missions-Must-go-to-neighbouring-system

You can put a system name in the search box and then get to it and plot. You can also do the same from standard missions. Passenger mission links to the Gal map fail.

Also, I can no longer zoom out and click on bookmarks that are far away, you have to be close enough to see the star.

NVM - a re-start seems to have fixed it.

I thought it was a funny and personable joke actually. Arrogance to me is rude and demanding posts.

Therein lies the problem, were a collective bunch to say the least, some found it funny others offensive, I have a wide and very broad sense of humor but diddnt find it funny in the least. Condescending was more my take on it, but that might be down to who posted it and without saying more that might get me an infraction ...ohnoes I'll leave that one there.

As for the comment if FD was trying to relay that yes they listened and yes the concerns of the community at large was taken in to account and yes they are working on it, I do think the wording could have been better, or was it indeed needed at all or is FD after more salt. I do understand a few bugs slipping through on update day but 2.3 was a cluster fudge for some people hence the out pouring of salt, insulting and constructive.

Again as said were a collective bunch to say the least.

Personally I have two observations.

1. Everyone is entitled to an opinion (even if we don't have to respect it) and it costs us nothing to respect that right to express it.

2. From a long time backers perspective, they have not only delivered above and beyond expectations but continue to build on what they have started. Whilst I do not agree with all of their design decisions, I respect that this is their vision that I bought into, not the game that I demanded they make according to my meager contribution during the Kickstarter. In my opinion they have conducted themselves with humor and integrity even when making missteps (goodness knows we all do) and from my own personal perspective, they have more than earned the right to express a little humor.

We're all a salty bunch, don't even try to deny it, but the difference is in whether you have the ability to take life with a mature and measured sense of humor or if you choose to take offence at whichever you decide is a 'red rag'. Each to their own, each to their own opinion, but in expressing it don't expect it to be respected but don't disrespect others for having one.
