uh, you didn't miss the event ending the sequel to the novel.

Sure you think you know, but you don't.

When I first realised that people on the XB would not be getting to join in with the fun I felt sorry for you, but as an XB1 player myself I'm aware that MS vets every single patch and things take time. But over the last 50 or so pages your remarks have eroded all sympathy I have with your situation. Not only that but your comments also brought the XB side of this community down to a level that we can only communicate at the level of an overly emotional teenager. I can almost hear the bells behind you and the continual wailing of 'shame shame shame!'

I'm a kickstarter backer, for the first year of release I could not play the game at all...

I do not know what you are all CRYING about...

Lets look at the facts.

Frontier have released the most epic game in the history of simulators since the last Elite game was out nearly over 30 years ago.

They have released this game without any kind of backer, apart from the kick starter.

Everything they have promised has either been released OR is going to be released over the next 10 years.

This game does not have a HUGE budget like SC does, which need I remind you has more bugs in it and is still in Alpha and still has no official release date...

Bugs are being fixed by a small team of dedicated people, who are putting their life and soul into this game, FOR US!

THE GAME IS BLOODY AMAZING!!!

SO PLEASE TELL ME AGAIN WHY YOU ARE ALL CRYING?

Please give Frontier a break and let them carry on fixing and upgrading the game. As I have said before this game is a work of art.

I was in game last night without ANY ISSUES, sometimes things do not go quite right when doing upgrades and so on, but please respect the people who are making us happy! I have been with and involved in many other games, that have not had such dedication from the company like Frontier give, so give them a break and let them fix these issues. Because unlike over companies that screw you over, Frontier is not going to!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!

Because some people are not as lucky as you and are having a buggy mess of a time when playing? Because they WANT to play the game but can't? Because there are bugs that date back a lot longer than the last beta and they are kind of fed up of being told "just wait for it to be fixed and chill" by forum tryhards?

I have RL friends who live less than 200miles away who I cannot play MC with due to crappy networking. That is a feature both of us Paid for. It is not unreasonable to expect the feature to be actually playable on launch is it?

You act like people are screaming about "there is a dodgy pixel and one other tiny glitch that happens one session in a thousand" when in fact there are large problems for a large number of players, and some have, justifiably, got sick of people like you with the constant excuses for failure!

Every major update last year had major issues on launch. Now I expected the devs to sit down at the end of the year, have a review, and for better things this year. But what do we have? We have the longest ever beta with it being pushed to live for Easter purely for marketing reasons when most beta players knew it wasn't ready. We have bugs that weren't in beta being introduced, bugs spotted of a major nature at the begging of beta not fixed etc etc.

People would be happy if they saw a general improvement in quality on release day. But for it to be unplayable for weeks at a time and to be mocked not only by the wilfully blind tryhards, but by the devs themselves for the bugs they introduced is quite frankly, galling!

While your post does not contain the truth, this specifically is totally contradictory.

"They have released this game without any kind of backer, apart from the kick starter.":S

I can not take you seriously.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've been told that the level of discourse towards me by both the moderation team the PC players in general in the forum have reached an all time low as well.

Face it, my posts didn't start like this but devolved when other people dragged the thread down and the mods just sat back taking their side of the PC-master-racers.

MS didn't set the date for the story event.
MS didn't break the Xbox version of the game.
MS is not at fault for FD taking too much time to send the fix in for certification.

People blaming MS for these problems are the same people screaming "PC-master-race" Ultimately they don't care about the destruction they're doing to the community. They have their fix, they have their game and everyone else is a "whiner"

But the truth is not what they say it is and YES, I get louder and more disappointed in FD, the mods and those players when they support it with "well MS blah blah blah" .

I'd like to hear a "very good reason" to be "very upset" over a vidya game.

It's about respect and trust. People buy Elite because they want to play it, and they do not expect Frontier to purposefully patch the game in such a way that they can't play anymore. That's disrespectful to the customers and it should never happen, especially when said issues are known, documented, and reported weeks before going live. Behavior like that generates bad publicity and negative sentiments, as this thread and many others like it prove, and if a studio wants to remain successful then it should be avoided at all costs, even if it means letting a schedule slip a week or two. A bad reputation in the video game industry is a terribly hard thing to overcome once it is established.

And sure it's super easy to just tell people to chill and relax and wait it out, but people pay money for Elite, it is not a free to play game. If Frontier continues to disrespect it's customers then before too long they won't have many customers left. I want to see Frontier thrive and do well, but actions like what they did with 2.3 are, to be honest, simply inexcusable in a business world.

That's my feelings at least. I'm not terribly upset because my expectations of Frontier have diminished so much that I no longer hold Frontier in very high regards personally. I like the people there and I think a lot of them mean well, but as a studio I'm greatly disappointed in their business strategies. I can certainly see why others are upset though, it's entirely understandable and justified in the case of 2.3.

What are you talking about? FD have released a patch to resolve some problems relating to one of the platforms the game runs on.

Explain how they have done what you claim ie: "purposefully patch the game in such a way that they can't play anymore."

Those are all valid reasons for disappointment that I can agree with. Though, I guess my litmus for "very upset" is different. Frontier doesn't hurt me or people I care about when they don't deliver or seem disrespectful.

The money I gave them was for entertainment...not for food, shelter or safety. When/If they fail to make good on that money it falls more in the realm of disappointing or even comical. The way some people are acting around here, you'd think Frontier chopped off a toe or something. Now, if I buy meat for my family only to find a putrid sack of rotting inside then yeah, I'd be very upset. I'd march into the store, throw the meat at the butcher and demand my money back.

Like seeing a movie, that I'd hoped to enjoy, be a sore disappointment with obvious failures in acting and direction doesn't move me to be "very upset". Rather, I am bummed I spent money on a loser and then maybe laugh about how bad it was.

The entire world isn't obligated to feel the same way you do about this.

But FD is obligated to fix what they've broke, just like your butcher is obligated to replace your meat.

I'm sympathetic if people aren't able to play directly on update, especially if missing an event however I don't think Frontier were teasing about bugs, more about 'salt' .. of which there is much, when it comes to coimments on 'game design decisions', 'moar content', RNGineers blah blah etc. People aren't shy when it comes to airing those (opinions) without even attempting to be constructive or giving any thought to who might be reading. What about someone thinking about buying ED, when the more the merrier, reads the salty tears? Will they still engage?

Frontier have pushed forward 2.3.01, which was due in May, to before the event on the 29th and though it might be unfortunate for people who generally don't complain about FD, as a development company, to have bugs stopping them from playing 2.3 right away, could also see it from the other side and wonder how the <people> at Frontier might themselves feel when vocals diss the game's direction without a thought.

Anyone who's met any of the devs realises that FD put a lot of heart into ED, that it's a massive long term project, that things happen when you're at sea, life's too short, and it's only a game. There are quite a few 'expert game designers' on these forums and when salt makes the forum pretty unpleasant at times, maybe not such a bad idea to remember to breathe, have a laugh now and then and remind, 'cheer up man, it might never happen!'.

but as a studio I'm greatly disappointed in their business strategies. I can certainly see why others are upset though, it's entirely understandable and justified in the case of 2.3.

HA! Apart from the fact the 2.3 is a MASSIVE update
(we will never again see such a deeply systemic alteration to ED's code imo)

They on their own live stream with a few computers in the same room couldn't get multicrew working.

Networking issues dogged the entire beta

they released it with said networking issues, they also released it with many other serious bugs, including several causing crashes for players, rendering the game unplayable for them, actually literally unplayable despite these bugs being reported.

2.3 was a "downgrade" in performance and visuals from 2.2x by quite a significant margin, they knew that before they pushed the patch, so at best they pushed a patch they knew was downgrading the game! And then they let us deal with it for a few weeks while anyone talking about bugs were abused, then they only patched a few of the issues leaving many more unresolved and likely to not be fixed for several more weeks, if not months!

Personally I cannot fly my conda anymore because even when other ships dash are really dark its so bright the glare hurts my eyes! And I paid good money for multiple paint jobs for it too, I spent a lot of hours earning it, and even more engineering it, I actually have two of them! they have had to be parked for how long? Who the hell knows! I've spent the last 4 sessions engineering a new ship for combat from scratch when I wanted to be fighting, and who knows if I'll even like it or it'll be good...and it's not even finished engineering yet! I want to be fighting not looking for rare materials, I didn't need to look for rares because I had a ship engineered exactly how I liked it...but the devs forced me too...again! Which is really removing my motivation to continue playing! I could avoid combat but the stars are still ugly as crap and there is some bug with the map where it's not recognising all OBAFGKM stars which almost resulted in death yesterday... Non-combat/non-passenger missions are basically pointless unless you do them for rep...heck I haven't seen one in the last FIVE stations I stopped at that even offered Mats/Data as rewards!

But hey the space bus drivers are happy so it's all good eh?

- - - Updated - - -

I have had bugs in the past, very early on I could not load into the game!

However I did not go on about it here, I just created a ticket and the problem was fixed... Give the company a chance, why people think a game like this is easy to make, I have no idea!!!

Well lucky you eh? You have such low expectations that when the game is literally unplayable for you you just make a bug report and go away.

Others want to TALK about it. This is a DISCUSSION forum isn't it? Perhaps you'd like to check the rules and see if it says "this forum is for talking about positive game experiances only"?

Just because you have low expectations and are easy to please doesn't mean everyone is!

And your problem got fixed....there are people with problems that didn't get fixed for a long time...or at all!

I don't think the game is easy to make. All I expect is the patch isn't rushed when clearly not ready to meet some artificial deadline!

Had they waited 2 weeks and released it in its state now there would have been far less discontent than releasing what they did! And yet still there are bugs in this release they now knew about 2 MONTHS ago not fixed....I think "2 months" counts as more than "a chance"

Again if your expectations are lower that's on you...

2.3 was a "downgrade" in performance and visuals from 2.2x by quite a significant margin, they knew that before they pushed the patch, so at best they pushed a patch they knew was downgrading the game!

It wasn't a downgrade .. because now you can be an avatar on someone else's <moving> space ship (!) and these thing have to be managed. As it happens 2.3 hammered my performance too but 2.3.01, and it's back again good as new. Keep reporting the bugs but enhance your calm John Spartan, you'll live longer without giving yourself an embelism or summut.

Would you prefer I self-segregate myself from the event as a sign of solidarity?
I am happy to NOT take part if it makes you feel better

/sigh I'm repeating myself way too much.

I don't want MORE people to miss out.

I would prefer that the event be moved out. Just like most people preferred it be moved out but Drew decided to go forward with it anyway.

But mostly, I want PC-master-race guys to shut it, because this is FD screwing the xbox players, not MS.

And I want the moderators and FD to recognize that and attack those PC people.. Don't attack the Xbox community for being a victim of FD's designs.
