Indeed, it's fair to say that I am a self professed nut of a fan when it comes to Elite, but some people just need to get a bit of perspective and chill...

I'm a longtime fan of the Elite franchise as well, however I do not like that Frontier went live with a patch containing so many game breaking bugs. Update 2.3 needed more time in the oven, it was not ready to go live. No update should ever be pushed with the knowledge that it will prevent players from playing the game, and that is what Frontier did here with 2.3. No matter how you want to sugar coat it, those are the facts, and it is not good behavior no matter how you choose to look at it.

A lot of people are very upset, and they honestly have some very good reasons to be, and telling them to "chill" is quite frankly in poor taste, IMHO.

I believe that history has shown that a great many bugs don't manifest themselves until a build goes live and even a beta test can miss them.

Getting upset over a game, Really?

That very true, and sometimes the most game breaking, but the galaxy map bug (Amongst others) was present in the Beta.

The FPS drop from friends in open, that was introduced in live.

if you have nothing constructive to contribute to this other than throwing out personal insults, then how about you just keep you clueless mouth shut?

warning! Irony overload! Rebooting brain in 3...2...1...#@%$@^^no carrier

I'd like to hear a "very good reason" to be "very upset" over a vidya game.

I might have gotten close last night when I couldn't install the update...After one last ditch effort, it worked, but I had decided that, if it didn't work, I would just play Skyrim or Dirt 3. I really needed my Elite relaxation therapy last night, too. It was a really terrible tough day.

That sucks. I hope FDev has it as showstopping critical priority.

I'm having to do a complete reinstall since my files got corrupted with this update it seems. Not nearly as bad as your situation, though.

I had a flawless update. What I did change in the Options in the launcher was use the alternative download method and unticked enable cache check. the game ran great for about a half an hour then fps drop arriving near planets and stations, was in open play. I changed to group PvE and had a slight improvement.

Try loving Elite that much, but not having access to it for weeks, causing you to miss out on the story event ending to the sequel of a novel you purchased and read in preparation for it.

You may find yourself re-evaluating your "chill" comment.

But you have access now, no? Didn't you say you did the workaround incorrectly in the first place and now it's OK?

First: TY for your concern.

Second: While it did work for me, it's not working for all Xbox players. There are still people locked out of even loading into the game.

Thirdly: AFTER doing the Temp fix there are other people who have the bug where the game crashes 30 seconds after it loads.

I figured out a work around for the "30 second crash" that I could do because I was docked at a shipyard. Someone not docked though will not be able to fix this.

These people will miss the event because this patch doesn't hit Xbox til early May.

For avoidance of doubt:

Being annoyed that you can't play the game you love (or have a poor playing experience) due to bugs isn't being "salty" It's simply expecting the goods you paid for!
eg : "This bug is ruining my game" is not salt

Being annoyed a particular feature you want wasn't implemented but another one was you aren't interested in is being "salty"
eg : "I'm a solo player and multicrew offers me nothing, where is {insert feature name}"

A portion of the community abusing those suffering bugs and trying to silence them really is quite despicable, and it needs to stop!

I do and I have, very early on I was hit with the bug that was causing my CPU to hard lock; I couldn't stream for several weeks.
You know what, I got over it. :)

uh, you didn't miss the event ending the sequel to the novel.

Sure you think you know, but you don't.

Umm, what's there to miss? Nobody gets instanced with the novel characters but a few gankers who get their lulz & it's all over before it even begins properly. :S

Yes, I think some people will be very disappointed. The 29th will be worse than 2.3.
