THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

The Teorge logs from Rebecca are dated to 3275.
3275 also just happens to be the year that Moira Dolan and Gustaav Mastersson upset Carl Linnaeus' (suspiciously Hans Walden like biochemist) plot to use modified humans to become elite pilots to train Oresrians (Thargoids we've met) so they can defeat the Klaxians (Thargoids we haven't) and thus save humanity from the coming invasion. The Oreserians were being pushed toward human space by the Klaxians. Last seen escaping towards the Pleiades. He was enamored with the ability of the Oserians to build on shared knowledge rather than the individualized knowledge inherent in humans.
From "Out of The Darkness" by T.James

A mere 5 years after Hans Walden-2 had his plans upset to cull the weak from human population via a virus to better position them to meet the coming threat (Hans 1 never located) who was fairly adept at cloning technology. He'd set about cloning himself to build a shared knowledge through his clones rather than an individualized knowledge. From "Lave Revolution" by Allen Stroud

And would probably have viewed the re-introduction of Genship populations into the mix as a terrible set back for humans. Conveniently they all appear to have relatively recently died from a virus. My own bit of tinfoil.

A bit before Robert Garry great-grandson of Alex Ryder set about disrupting the plans to use Soontil weapons to kill the Emperor and trigger a war between the federation and Empire leaving the strongest standing to face the 2nd Thargoid invasion due to pressures within. Think Visigoths being pushed south toward Rome. From "And Here the Wheel" by John Harper

If this is all about clones, then presumably we can look forward to seeing KahinB, now that KahinA is no longer with us.

Please can someone post or PM me the location of the new bases out near the Heart and Soul nebulae? I've got Base Camp in Soul, but can't find the location of the other one.

I'm heading outwards. Recent events have encouraged the explorer within me.

Interesting!

The forum meltdown which would follow introduction of new FSD technology would make multicrew/telepresence look like a civilized consensus.

Didn't they say they would work on the ability to jump in system [with limits] or did I dream that on one of those 600,000ls journeys that I have to do because I must scan everything! Either way, humans can't fight a war with a race that just shuts down there tech instantly. There is no fight there. Something has to change.

That's interesting. What is all of this backstory from?

If this is the end of the chapter on the rift, I think it's a good one, even if what we learned wasn't shockingly different from what was expected. Hats off to Drew and FDev for making it entertaining. My complaints wouldn't be in how it ended, but that there doesn't seem to be a way to continue forward.

Updated my original posts with the titles, they're other kickstarter novels of which Reclamation was one. They're good reads. I spent a lot of time (and still do) poking around for Gustaav.

Good observations here.

I think Salomé's fate still makes a good story.

Well, aside from who killed her...
HarryPotter5poster.jpg

Muh immershun died with her

Is there a good summary of this whole mystery anywhere? I'm one of those guys that like to wait until a season is over to binge on the entire experience. :)

All these clones floating around, and Kahina in a fairly prominent Imperial family and all, makes one wonder where else Dark Wheel/INRA/Alien-controlled clones might be hanging out, eh? <cough> Duval family <cough>

One of the early hints that Kahina wasn't a 'True Daughter of the Empire' was the color of her hair. It was brown not blonde. Possibly blue is just a way to cover up the wrong colored hair. What better way for the Elyssia Fields line to impact events than to insert one of their own into the line. If we ever see a Galnet post about her being a surprisingly good pilot we'll know.

Hey Drew on the off hand chance you're still perusing this. Neptune Ryder, ring any bells ?

Old theory of mine that I just can't let go of (side note, I miss the days of tossing out ideas and everybody completely flipping out over a bit of Drew Rep).

I think that one might get you some John Harper rep...

Tbh as someone who has been vaguely following (IRL haven't played Elite properly in nearly a month now) I honestly think this is all a set-up. I mean for real. There's more than enough player groups that do PvP, I could name at least 10 without even looking them up.

There's tons of groups who you could lay 100% faith in, Iridium Wing, Hutton Truckers, Fuel Rats, Adeles Armada. Not all the most amazing PvP fighters but groups you can trust and just stay as defence in numbers by chaining people into the instance more and more until the attackers are outnumbered 10 vs 1.

In this case they went with not even some shady people but the shady people. It's either gross incompetence and stupidity or a pre-planned deal. My money goes on the 2nd option. I think the whole story and sequence of events was more or less storyboarded or mapped out to begin with and even if someone cared to try and correct me it'd take a lot to make me change my mind.

My final message is the same as some of the Frontier official livestreams "Open play" - glad I didn't even think about joining that recipe for disaster.
Hopefully you'll work out the mystery at some stage but I almost definitely won't be a contributor to the puppet-show.

We will have clone dolls for sale in stations soon at this rate, keep a few lonely spacemen happy I suppose.

Possibly but several folks like GluttonyFang (a dog himself) came close to killing her early on. Even if it's storyboarded I'm still going with the interpretation that Smiling Dog Crew (SDC) is just a military front for the Dog Star Sirius Corp and they're the ones behind the Dynasty ship. Either it was dumb luck in which case I can fit SDC into my mental model or it was staged in which case it fits my mental model. It doesn't truly matter either way.
