I really want to like flying a DBX because it only needs a small landing pad and looks nicer than tha Asp, but I tried it recently for a short jaunt out to Barnard's Loop. Unfortunately, the 4A maximum Fuel scoop is really a downer. I kept looking at my fuel guage thinking, "If this was my Asp, I would be jumping by now... come on, hurry up".

Here in lies a problem I see with a lot of explorers on this forum; Nobody actually explores properly and always seems to be in a big rush to get anywhere, as if what they'e going to will somehow disappear within 5 minutes if they can't make it there quickly.

Just sit back, man. Relax and enjoy the ride. Earn way more credits, too -- if that's what you're really after, being a quick-jumper.

Thanks again to everyone for their thoughts and experiences. I'll have to mull over the pros and cons (ideally Frontier should correct this situation and max the ASP X king of jump range), and decide upon return to the 'Bubble'.

Move over, rover. DBX is the new king of the jump. Retire that fat old pancake and fly in style.

I tried to come up with a fit for the DBX. But i think i will stay away from it. The smal fuel-scoop and the inability to carry at least a small cargo rack (you never know what you will find out there) made me pass on it. I love the Asp the most. Awesome view and able to carry everything you'll need.

I wonder if you've tried the DBX since it got the 2.3 update, making it lighter and have an extra internal compartment. I have literally everything an explorer needs; AFMU, Cargo, Scoop, Both scanners and an SRV. Even have a Large gun mounted just in-case I need to shoot something, and I still get 50ly out of this beast. I got no shields but so far I've never really had a problem with that. Just have to approach high gravity planets with a little caution when it comes to landing.

People wrongly complain about how long it takes to fuel scoop on it. They forget that the DBX has the best heat management, and can cruise right alongside the sun getting 340 fuel/s without breaking a sweat. You'll be fully fueled in no time.

Ooo look at that, A Mk II eh?

Couldn't possibly be a teasing hint at the ASP MkII, could it?

Still I don't get the point of the DBX except the price , when i can go in my explo conda with a 51Ly jump range with a good array of defensive weapons , shields , SRV , SLF , cargo , AFMU , and a big fuel scoop.....

Because the DBX offers fuller views of the stars, it's more maneuverable in supercruise, accelerates from planets and stars faster, is less accident prone on high gravity worlds and make an okay canyon flier. You can also make more 55ly jumps in it before needing to refuel. The conda might fuel fast but it needs to fuel often.

Nah, I prefer my 7A, scooping 1.2+ tonnes per second. :D

It fuels on the fly while circling the star...

haha. at a buy of 92 million that fuel scoop is a steal! And yeah, it can scoop while circling but in a DBX you don't really have to worry about plotting a path of scoopable stars. That means more exploration options.

Now that you mentioned this, I was wondering where all my money went...

I never buy a fuel scoop larger than a 5a. I'm hoping they give all the exploration/scout/trade ships dedicated slots like the did military and passenger ships.

Did anyone noted that Salomé met CoR the 29th at around 17:00 at Tionisla and Raan Corsen stayed at Tionisla the same day during about 30 minutes while Salomé was blown up, before he jumped to Teorge ?
So, what Raan Corsen did at Tionisla during all this time ?

It was a long run, he needed the loo and a quick sandwich before reading the cobra message to go to Teorge

Afaik, the plan was that the old cobra activates and directs them to Teorge which didn't work due to technical issues.

It's something that must be confirmed.
I was in contact with TAoL during this time and never heard about that. But it's possible that this information was not sent too. We recieved order to jump from F Eridani to Tionisla while Raan Corsen jumped to Teorge.

This message is not very uncommon unfortunately, i found a couple while scanning outposts for MEFs.

And BTW, i was meaning to ask this for a couple of days now in this thread, what was revealed after the Salomé event? Only those Old Woman recordings at Teorge? They are vague and dont say anyting new...
Was there anything else? If not, the payoff from the event was, well... nothing!

3 survived, and because one died, they reveal nothing? Im as confused as i was at 46 Eridani!

Here we go, someone trying to tell others how to play the game. If we were in the explorer subforum, we'd have to have a drink after reading this... good job I'm in the pub right now. :D.

Sorry, but if there's a particular region I want to check out or explore, I don't want to be sat still waiting whilst still on the way. Even if I came across something interesting in system, I would rather be checking that out rather than sat scooping.

There was meant to be a second stage to the event, where a signal source was meant to appear and point us to Teorge, but it didn't work out properly. Drew already mentioned that on here.

Edit: ninjad.
