"The Aquarian Job" goes badly wrong - How I lost a ship mid-race but am still in the running

i could be wrong, it has been known, but i think our very own CMDR Bruski is an Iridium Winger as well as awesomely fast flyer. i'llPM him

(where's my lvl 5 engineered repometer when i need it?)

Pretty much confirms what I thought, that trying to get a lift would actually slow me down.

P.S. I might need Iridium wing services if I decide to finish this thing in Open...

I've confirmed with the rest of the crew that we'd be happy to provide escort for the final approach. Join our discord server to get a mission set up! :D

Two thirds of the way there!

I lucked out and the sun went down while I was out of the game, so I logged back in to find it fully dark. Dim + magic nightvision is way easier to handle than the long shadows of sunrise/sunset, so that helps a lot.

What's really unnerving is how sometimes you land and bounce just right, but still manage to take 45% damage.

One of my favorite things is when conditions line up just right to soar right over the top of a mountain:

I must admit, anyone trying to stop this valiant commander now would have to be a serious (Sirius?) a-hole. That said there is no shortage of such in E: D, so it's good that IW are on hand to provide air cover.

Right On, Commander! Flive Safe.

Never I could have imagined that cmdr Tannik's Aquarian Job would became a full time one. :D

Self reminder for next race: when srv driving and ship recalling are involved, *always* include a 1% hull bonus rule. Mistakes may be made, legends may arise. :p

Just host a 3000 mile endurance challenge. You will get entries.

I'll keep progress updates in this thread.

As of last night I've made about 230km of progress, in a bit over an hour. The biggest slowdown is having to stop and scrape for materials, since I'm short on Nickel and Iron. I'm thinking I should go slow for a bit to stockpile as much as I can, then get up to a steady 90-100 m/s and just cruise.

Awesome and double repped OP :)

Loved the "challenge Accepted" LOL - And it looks like it will be a challenge and fun so good luck! :)

Still not 100% sure I'll use it... the "instance damage multiplier" bug for SRVs means that having friendly CMDRs around may be a bigger threat than murder-hobos. :) My best bet may be simply quietly crossing the finish line without fanfare or announcing it ahead of time.

Now that's a guy who like who deserve the "To boldly go where no man have gone before!"... This is a rare thing on these forums nowdays... best luck on your last leg of the journey

Had now the time to catch up with the last Videos, its suprising how much fun it can be just watching someone gong from A to B :D

Also thanks to Alec for choosing music I can enjoy, too often I click a ED video and are confronted with Music that annoys me :p
