For some one who names themselves Dialectic, you are oddly blind to the various 'truths' all around you.
Which truths would that be? What is griefing to you? Is pvp advance-consent only in your mind?

You seem to have an aweful lot to say on this subject. Especially since you have not had a stake in the game for more than a week. From your constant and instant replies to every post in this Thread, you have to have less than 4 hours in the game up until this point.
So again you have nothing to offer or you are hiding behind a secondary Forum account in order to run interference for your other posts. Nobody this new to any game could feel as strongly as you come across. Heck most people dont even join the game forum for a couple weeks or months after starting a new game. That is why I find everything that you say suspiciously topical and completely biased. How can you have a bias when you have no experience? You can't.
You have nothing to add or say in opposition or agreement to this subject. There is a newcomer forum for new players.

Which is the reason I am sure he or she is just a secondary account for one of the other people still posting in this thread. Could be paranoia, but other thread trolls have done it in the past on this games boards.
You'll have to do better than straw mans to get anywhere on this forum.

And what's the problem with To make a player - player related crimes harder, actually introduce as system what do something about it?
Whom interest to make this impossible to be happen?
Why do some of you make counter statements rather than answer questions? Do you know what a strawman is?

Don't even bother. The hard core PvE players are far more toxic than the PvP guys. You can't stop to answer questions when you are on a mission lol.

See, I'm not anti-pvp. I don't look for it, but I enjoy it when it happens. I've run away, I've stood my ground, I've won, and I've lost. I've been pirated by honorable foes and griefed by people who just wanted lulz.
I prefer to play in Open because it's got chances for more random and interesting encounters. I took a noob I randomly met under my wing and even loaned him some platinum to help get his feet off the ground (loaned 'cause we agreed he'd pay me back - in the end I had him escort my unarmed T6 through a hostile CG as payment).
I say "care to admit to" because the tone of your posts conveys the idea that caring about C&P and Karma is limited to anti-PvPers, crybabys, carebears, what have you.
I like Open. I like risk. I like PvP and I like PvE. What I don't like are those who exploit the game mechanics to ruin other people's experiences and hide behind those mechanics as a shield to justify their actions.
As I've said elsewhere, I don't think the griefer issue can be solved through in-game mechanics alone, because of the knock-on effects it might have on regular PvP. Therefore I don't have an issue with out-of-game mechanics brought in to combat it.
It's perfectly fine to question how effective those mechanics might be - but it has to be tried before problems can be found and improved. Those arguing that they'll raise the black flag and go on a griefing spree if this happens are welcome to. You're just being beta testers, and hopefully the system will deal with you quickly and efficiently.
As intended.
You will never stop players killing other players. You can make it more difficult but it will never stop. I can't wait for the salt to flow when this karma thingy gets released. I'm willing to bet that there will be PvE tears because complacent players in sub-standard load outs will still get killed. Your hysteria is awesome by the way. I can't wait to see the threads you post when you find out that this "fix" doesn't keep you from getting killed. BTW is your forum name the same as your in game name?
Not my questions to answer. And yes, I know what a straw man is.
"Hastily posting from work" aka trolling account will just get you ignored around here.
What makes you think I'm a PVE player just because I don't like weak arguments?
Well I don't have any issue with people playing non combative roles obviously because I'd like to have a target, but I do wish we'd all be in the same Open mode so everyone would share in the experience.
You said raising the black flag makes me a griefer? Uhhh
I still don't quite understand what everyone's definition of griefing is vs pvp. I'm guessing everyone has very different definitions here.
Because, in my case, that is all your comments deserve. What I consider Griefing, and what a C&P/Notoriety would do for the game, are completely different issues. I don;t want to go through a lot of word salad with you over an off-topic conversation.
Suffice it to say that only those dependent on misconduct, will be negatively affected by a Notoriety system to any degree to notice. None of the PvP crowd, that I have spent any time with, will see any changes with respect to how the galaxy reacts to them. Simply using the 'Report Crimes' toggle properly should keep PvP'ers from criminality. I really can't see anyone fearing a Notoriety system that reacts to both the positive and the negative actions a player takes.
Don;t be afraid. If you are man enough to play in open, you should be able to handle the consequences of your actions.
Or we have problem with PVP?we don't! Our problem is griefing and what we see right now, they are trying to push these two different question to each others.
I don't get the impression that you are all that concerned with a shared 'experience'. I get the impression you are interested in others sharing your experience. The C&P/Notoriety system would not just be an anti-griefing deterrent. It would be a record of your actions, and affect the environment around you based on those actions. How anyone would argue against such a system, is strange to me. Especially with all of the 'Risk v Rewards' chatter we get around here.
In all reality I don;t think any developer could create a system to satisfy, completely, both sides of this argument. Any system that doesn't offer near absolute security won't go far enough for some, and a system that does protect, directly, will take away the freedom expected from this game.
The closest they could come, as we stand, is to leave Open as is, and offer a PvE-Open for those looking for a more civilized environment in which to fly virtual star ships.

I'm not sure you know what a strawman is. See, at the end there where you raise the false position of me being afraid about a game mechanic, then burn it down with your counter to it? That's a strawman.
I already said the karma thing sounds fine. I don't mind if it's difficult. So long as I get to shoot cargo ships and steal your stuff.
So you saying PVP is the one and only valid way to play and we must play it, we obliged to love it? Sorry! but neither of this true, and i must say beneath all your words this is the actual agenda, this is how you lots always act, this is what you lots want.Don't even bother. The hard core PvE players are far more toxic than the PvP guys. You can't stop to answer questions when you are on a mission lol.
