OFFICIAL DAILY UPDATE 2
Greetings Commanders
Good to see all the replies and interest in the thread!. There's some additional tibbets of good advice added by various people who understand the difference between playing in OPEN and playing in a private group.
Thanks for those additions.
As stated yesterday todays update is all about when this hits the fan and you find yourself being interdicted and ready/not ready for a life or death situation
So without further a do, lets get into it:
The Interdiction Mini Game
So although you are now a confrimed master of
reading the Radar and controlling the situation, you still, somehow for whatever reason, find yourself playing the Interdiction mini game with that FDL who didnt find your joke about the Waters of Shinrara funny. So what now? Well, you have simply 2 choices:
1) Play the interdiction Mini Game:
If you are in a smaller, more agile ship and are comfortable lining up the reticule, theres a good chance you might just escape this encounter. The first thing to do is note the type of ship Pulling you over. For example if you are in a Conda and he is flying that agile FDL, the odds are stacked against you ( not impossibly so, as skill does come into it), but its definatley favouring him and a big risk. However, youre feeling confident and you think you got this. So you decide to play the game.
The interdiction mini game can be mysterious thing. As sometimes, even though you are positive you are keeping the reticule centered...the enemy seems to be winning the tug of war. This may be down to your net code/connection/lag and if you notice this happening just throttle to zero and submit,
as failing the mini game means your FSD will take much longer to cooldown. A lot of people fail to realise this.
However if you think the mini game reticule is accuratley responding/representing your maeouvers and you decide to stick it out, heres a good tip.
The direction of the Interdiction Display is leaning right and you are rolling right trying to keep your ship aligned. Theres a brief moment where the reticule "hangs" before it changes direction. If you manage to time it correctly you can anticipate the direction change by identifying this "hang" and start to roll your ship just before the change happens. This will give you an edge and should help keep that blue progress bar in good shape. It can be hard to spot this "hang" at first but once you do, it will become a becon for you. Use it well.
IMPORTANT:
Its rare but sometimes the hang can bluff you and contine on the previous direction. If you notice this is the case: Just submit. its too late to recover at this point usually.
Keep your throttle in the blue zone while playing the mini game!!!
2) Dont play the interdiction mini game:
Today is just not your day and you are not confident youll win the mini game. You decide to throttle to Zero and submit.
This is what most commanders do who either are confident
they can fight (or outrun) or are confident their shields will hold while they prepare to hi wake.
If you are none of the above and yet still find yourself submitting, perhaps it would have been a better idea to try the mini game and escape.
Once you submit your FSD will start to "cooldown"- as represented by te blue ciricle on your hud.
And it will cool a lot faster than if you had tried the mini game and failed. Swings and roundabouts.
DO NOT JUMP BACK TO SUPERCRUISE.
Jumping to suprecruise means your ship is affected by mass lock (unless you are in a bigger ship like the conda but honesty- they will just follow and repeat)
and will take longer to charge the fsd than if you hi waked.
As soon as you submit, lock onto the nearest sytem and charge the hyperdrive.
Fun Fact: you can set up your key bindings to do this at the press of a button. It saves you flcking through your panel and wasting precious seconds and if youre like me, you dont like reading panels while being shot at.
Do it. You will not regret it.
Do not run in a straight line.(unless you are in a faster ship) In fact the best thing to do is boost towards and past the enemy ship. Repeat this more than once if you have to untill your FSD is ready.
This will not always save your bacon. Honestly, the best way to escape this situation is to avoid it in the first place -no not by playing in Mobious, but by seeing this coming on the Radar. If you find yourself in this situation over and over its time to go back to basics and read the first post here and perfect the prevention.
Finally, use every trick you can. Use silent running if they are using gimballs, throw chaff, boost, zig zag, whatever you can. Do not make yourself a stionary target and above all
DO NOT ASSUME THIS PERSON IS PULLING YOU OVER FOR ANYTHING ELSE OTHER THAN TO KILL YOU.
There are a few role playing pirates out there and i salute them..but they are few and far between. Assume the worst. Hope for the best. Always.
As always guys, feel free to add to this.
The next update will go into "griefer" tactics at stations when you thnk you are safe.
Untill then, fly safe commanders
