Small Worlds Expedition 2!

Those European times are pretty harsh. My schedule is more flexible, so I can make them but my partner is going to have a rough time on the weekdays. I'm not sure how we'll work it out.

She's never been exploring and I thought this would be a fun intro for her.

We'll do what we can. We use TeamSpeak daily and have for many years. Neither of us have ever used Discord. I did join the discord server, mostly to help keep up on news and such, but I'm really not sure how much we'll use it. Looks to be a bit complicated.

My partner is beyond shy, but we'll try to join so we can see what's going on and see how it goes from there. Kind of hoping some Euro times are posted. If not, I'll probably make the posted jump times, but we'll have to figure something out for her.

Yep weekdays times suck for eu residents. Can we maybe have a second times zone there must be a fair few europeans involved I am guessing?

Even an unofficial time to meet up would be cool weekdays if there isnt a member of the organisation team avaliable. As has been suggest 19.00-20.00 would most likley work for many of us.

If you can figure out Teamspeak then you can certainly figure out Discord. I did. It really isn't very hard.

I'ts ok to be shy. I'm shy. Shy people are welcome. There's no obligation to speak in either the voice or text channels. But it does help a lot if we know that you can hear us.

I do hope that you and your partner will take the plunge and try voice comms over Discord. It's really not any harder than Teamspeak.

I'm in the UK, so I plan to join any UK/EU activities that may happen in the 19:00-20:00 UTC zone, except that I cannot make WP0 due to family commitments.

I would suggest that we coordinate on the Discord server.

Looks like I *may* have forgotten to mention it here too: I will be hosting an EU meet up at 1900 UTC (jumping at 2000) as a member of the admin team, those folks who can't make the 0000 one.

And if you need help with discord, I highly recommend asking in #freetalk, someone will be glad to explain it. Considering we use our discord to do *everything*, not using it will put you at a huge disadvantage when attempting to join in at meetups.

That's odd. I was able to post initially with no problem at all, and now to reply it says my posts have to be approved? Not sure what's up with that.

Well, since I've bailed out, I figured it'd be a shame to let the preparation phase become a lost effort and time investment, so I went out on a bit of a "precursor run" of the waypoints and I'll have to give props for the folk who selected the waypoints for the first third of the trip!

That part was worth the effort.

Reading back on the forum I've noticed I wasn't the only one bailing out for the same reason - which I won't bring up again - but it may warrant a self-revision for the admins when the same matter keeps popping up. I'd risk saying that its happening because it wasn't addressed in a satisfactory manner

Being dismissive and playing down concerns or asking folk who signed up to kindly shut up is poor form to say the least.

That being said, I wish you guys good luck.
It would've been fun to complete the trip with ya'll.

ps: Frontier got some really odd inner workings on the exploration ranking because the whole trip where I paid close attention on goldilocks zone, eartlikes, water and ammonia worlds along with gas giants and scanning nearly every star I visited, netted roughly 30mill Cr with the grand total of 3% of exploration rank increase xD It kinda feels like frontier taking a dump on the players.

Thanks, thats brilliant news. Any chance we can have that added to the OP, so it doesn't become buried in the thread? Will help word spread and hopefully make our jump times a little more popular. :)

Alternate time and signup issue

I'm sure some US folk will also appreciate an alternate meet up time. Like many others in the "near-50%" group I live in the UK hence some of the jump times would have been difficult.

Currently I'm racing back from a visit to Colonia scoping Neutron stars with some 18klys to go. Hopefully I'll have time to get back to the bubble, change to a DBX and outfit it.

With regard to signing up, how do I know if I've been registered? I have
1. Completed the Google doc form
2. Ingame located the group "Barben is Thargoid" and requested to join the group
However I've received no acknowledgment and I'm still unable to join the BisT group.

Can anyone tell me if I should receive and ACK and if the group is currently active?
TIA

I followed the same steps as you (plus joined the discord server, but I did that later). I didn't get any acknowledgement other than, I ended up on the list on the front page and I have access to the private group in game.

My partner did the same, and also has access to the private group now, but she's not yet showing up on the list on the main post, which I assume is updated occasionally.

So, I'd guess that if you followed those steps and you get access to the group, you're good to go.

It seems the discord server is followed more closely than this thread, so you can check there. Also there's a command to register/change your ship information there.

If you have done the google form then you are ready to go. I have to update my personal list for registration, however it's at work so it's easier for me to update everything there than make mistakes from home. No worries; I have a lot of updating to do, to also reflect the additional EU meetup time as well everywhere.

Well said. I've kept my mouth shut on the "reasons for bailing" after being told to shut up on said subject I promised not to mention again, but agreed CMDR bad form. Very bad form indeed.
I've been away from Explorer forums for some time due to RL priorities and have never been told to wind my neck in here ever. There's a first time for everything I suppose.
As I said earlier CMDRs good luck and watch your collective sixes. I hope all goes well for you.

for the fun of it

were going a long way, might as well bring some Erranin pearl whisky, ill drop some off and share it with some of the european commanders from checkpoints 0+5-11, got a family holiday during checkpoints 1-4, and anyway space is technically international waters so we can party all night long and get totally hammered, but anyway with 50ly jump range with a canon for messing around, but also, ill bring the football artefact.

@OP please delete my roster entry no. 200. I couldnt play much recently and i am still 10k LY away from the bubble and wont make it there until start of that expedition, sorry

I was tempted to bring some rare food and drink to celebrate at our destination, but I wanted to bring both shields and an AFMU, just in case.
