Server downtime - June 27th launch day!

Unless fdev confirm differently I'd just go off the last 2.3 update on xbox and if it starts earlier then it's a bonus :)

The servers went down about 10am and didn't come back on until 6pm although the client update was released by MS at about 4pm so most of us we were ready by the time the servers came back online.

The client update will be hosted by sony so depending on size we'll probably be at their mercy as to the speed of the download :/

Why would you plan such an update on the launch day? Doesn't make sense, they could do it a few days before.

I will be at home, do some cleaning, do some shopping, then sit back buy some frontier points and wait for the end of my social life lol

This may be a red herring but someone posted in a community PS4 group that the US store Ts & Cs shows the game as being playable from 11am EST on the 27th. i.e. 3pm UTC(game time) or 4pm BST.

if true, then the game may / may not be down for most of the morning.

We probably need some clarification from FDev on what they are expecting on PS4 Launch Day in terms of uptime / downtime to deploy the 2.3.10 patch.

Yeah this would be nice. FDev are you alive? It's pointless me taking the day off work if it's down till 4pm. Can't see anything it T&Cs here. Where exactly is this note?

I did read that it would be "live" at 1200 GMT somewhere.

Where did you read this?

Actually a very good question, hopefully FDev can shine some light on the maintenance and game release schedule for the 27th across time zones? Though i suspect currently they may not know themselves and will a week or a few days before.

My preorder also showed 11 EST as the available time. As I mentioned in another post, this is a "magic" Sony time, because I've seen it again and again with various events in other games, as well as the Playstation Store itself (ED didn't become visible for preorder until 11 EST).

If you have limited day(s) to take off from work, you might want to wait until Wednesday. I'm bracing myself for the very real possibility that Tuesday may have some "hiccups." Don't be surprised if we see some posts from Frontier saying, "We know the servers are down. We're working on it. Thank you for your patience." It happens.

ps - HOPEFULLY the tutorials will not be affected by any launch glitches.

I've already switched to Wednesday :) I can pull an all nighter that way ;)

If you get through the patch process and create or link to an fdev account even if you can't get ingame the tutorials are still available. I'm just not convinced or sure they will be if you haven't :/

The problem I can see is if the update goes live during the tuesday psn store updates for both EU and US it will take an age to download and then when fdevs servers are back up they're gonna get hit by all four platforms desperate to log in around the same time :(

My clock countdown is still for 00:00 on the 27th....

ED is an interesting exception to all the other multiplayer games I own. These other games make you choose your region (NA, EU, etc) and only players in that region interact. I've seen this as a plus in some cases. For example, 8 new character slots available to me on the EU ESO server :)

My point is, it doesn't surprise me that our availability times don't line up, because I don't think Sony had a "global multiplayer game launch" in mind when they set up their regional Playstation Store servers. 11:00 EST is the America's "magic time" (AFAIK), but it seems midnight is yours.

QUESTION FOR FDEV - when are you going to "throw the switch" on the BGS for PS4? Will it have been running for 11 hours when my copy of ED activates (cool with me), or will Stormy need to wait x number of hours after his copy activates before he can play?

It's unlikely that PS4 players will have access to the main game until after the 2.3.10 patch drops, though I doubt there is any reason why the tutorials wouldn't be available until then. That said 11am EST is 4pm BST, most patching *should* have been done by then...

Console players are at an advantage when it comes to character slots too, at least on XB1 as long as you are on your main gold system you can have as many characters as you have accounts on your XB1. I'm assuming PS4 will be something similar..

Where is this 11am EST listed as I only see it on forums and not from Sony or FDev. Can someone put a link or screenie up?

I took a screenshot of the preorder screen right before I purchased (for posterity). I think this is the screen that showed the 11:00 AM availability time. That pic is still on my PS4, so I'll check tonight.

Having to wait for the 27th, reminds of my dsys as a child, having to wait until XMas mourning to open my presents. Because of my ignorance of what or how a calender worked, my parents, unknown to me lied about the date. Which because we were poor and items had a hugh markdown after, XMas wasn't until the 27th. Ahhhhh, fond memories. Thanks FDev!

Eh, I don't know, I wouldn't rely on T&C as a hard date, that's not what T&C is for. The T&C are what you, the player, agree to when playing Frontier games. The T&C binds you as the consumer, not Frontier.

That line is always funny, the number of bug reports I've read where people haven't done this is phenomenal - they always seem to get salty when I suggest that they may have to spend beer chits to rectify it...

You also have to remember that all the regions are run completely separately. Just because SCEA do something one way doesn't mean SCEE will and vice versa
