How long have you been camping at the barnacles with still no alien ship?

i spent a couple of hours. Got into a PVP fight with trolls in Open. (got wasted... But a cutter and an FDL vs my Viper was an obvious outcome).
I never saw the alien ship do its thing, but im easy... can watch on youtube.

I think we can also see it as a social event. Alot of the people camping the barnicles are interacting and messing around with one another. Maybe we can also look at this from the perspective of much needed social enviroments in ED.
HHHmmm, that also says a lot about the state of social interaction in ED: players sitting around for hours at a time playing leap frog in their SRV's while waiting for the 60 second "event" hehehe.

Are lives really so empty that we have sunk to waiting in a game to (hope to) watch a 'scripted event'?

People do that with 'Real aliens sightings" funny part is i think happens more in real life then it does in the game...

The alien ships are like love, needless to look for them, if they have to come, they will come
never ever been interdicted....three hours about at barnicles got two visits.....open xbox.....first time I was behind some guys Imp cutter?( BIG ship on the ground) when srv died , missed most before popping out the camera.
second visit was trying to jump over some guys anaconda from various angles and was behind it (BIG ship on the ground) when srv ...died................
stole all the meta alloys I could carry and sold them back at Gnosis

But yes. Visit the barnicle sites... or the Alien ruins (when new) players interacted. At the barnicle sites right now, its like a camp fire with drunken revelers running about. You dont see that anywhere else in game. At least not to this scale.
Just saying that maybe its a sign that ED needs a community hotspot. Im hoping Spacelegs and space stations will be this.

I jumped on to an Anaconda in my SRV. I rolled around a bit... they took off.. I exploded...
And then the instance was broken. Much hilarity as Condas and Vettes started burrowing through the ground like moles, broaching the surface like whales swimming through molasses... all the while numerous SRV acrobatics were taking place overhead. And then my ship landd in midair... I didn't realise until I got out in my own SRV... the other one.. which plummeted down to the ground below.
Fun times. Who needs aliens anyway...

Day 6.
Been waiting for six days now... nothing new to report, except that voice from the barnacle, and this strange rumbling noise in coming from the ship.. I tried to track it done but nothing yet. More then likely in my head, got to be careful things like this, the black can drive a person mad... still it peaceful enough. Nothing out here but dust and star light and those green.. barnacles. That's what they call them.. look more like octopus arms to me.. Still they make quite whale song it's spooky really. Alien life in the form of a big green lump... but life is life i suppose.
I left the camera recording in case anything happens when i'm sleeping. So far nothing on the footage.
Just this strange sky.. With the planet tidal lock its day time.. all the time.. never really night.
Day 7
Camera footage was a bust again. Nothing just more black and star light, That strange rumbling noise came back.. I hunted around everywhere for it.. It stopped as soon as i turn the lights on.. nothing around but this power wrench I use to work on the SRV. I know i heard it this time.. Rumble, Rumble, Rumble, almost sounds like falling rocks..
it unnerving since I'm right next to the cliffs. Still nothing to really worry about. The shield are up and nothing has impacted them yet.
Only 0.07 G's out here. Still I swear it getting louder with every passing moment. Never so load that it does anything but be annoying... Wonder what it might be. I'd go out and look in the SRV but to be honest.. I's really not right at this moment.
Radio chatter been picking up some stranger reports on A3. Talk of alien craft picking people, pulling them out of hyperspace.. that why I ended up here.. see if was true.. .so far nothing.. other then this strange rumble sounds next to an alien lump in the middle of the dust..
honestly I'm not sure why I'm still waiting, other then that feeling you get.. The one when you're on earth or mars. You can feel something in the air, it's so thick you can stuff a pillow with it.. Right before one of the biggest thunderstorms you have ever see strikes. The winds and lighting start then the heavens open.
Just that raw power of nature.
Amazing to think about.
Day 8
The rumbling has gotten louder. Sometimes I hear wind.. but i know that's not possible.
This is a dead planet.. seriously..
Radio has gone silent.. nothing. I mean nothing. no chatter, no incoming signals it like all the sudden the whole system when quite. Pretty unsettling.
I still hear that crazy whale sound even though I've moved away from it.. I'm getting some really bad vibes out here.. like a warning in the back of my mind but i can bring it forward, it just there.. chewing on the back of my mind.. it making the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
like being watched..

Bad part is I getting the feeling if it is true.. they're running from something.. Something bad something worse or scarier then them..

I got excited when I saw a ship on the scanner.. but it was nothing a type 9, flying over the hills... more then likely looking for salvage. Tried to hail him but all he did was speed off into the black.
It's pretty lonely, no broadcasts, no nothing.. That worries me.. come to think of it.. maybe the radio not working.. after all that pilot didn't respond to my hail at all.. that got to be it..
Day 9
I don't understand, The radio seems to be working fine now. I can hear what been going, how people saw.. something.. there no real proof. They say you're ship goes offline for a minute. Then by the time they power back up the pilots try to run down something that jumps away in a hurry... some people are scared or are going a little crazy over the idea that there something out here besides.. humans..
this is space, the unknown, of course there going to be something else out there.
Reports are coming in that they not making contact. Weird.. maybe we look like cavemen to them.
Still its alien to us.. lets think about.. it not human.. doesn't think like a human. Doesn't respond the same way as a human..
IT not even like an animal.
This is something completely different.
Went around in my SRV scanned the sight down again. Noise is still present.. this Rumbling and wind in the darkness.
The barnacle is sending out little blue.. somethings .. I think i would describe it as fireflies.
I hear moaning now and some electronic voice.. you can not make out what it is say..
Eden say there nothing there.
She the ships AI.. got pretty lonely so i downloaded her for company. She keeping me update what going on in Galnet..
But she does not hear it.. The voices, the moaning, the rumbling or the whale song.
That worries me even more, what if I am starting to crack up..

Eden was worried about me and wanted to leave and take me to the nearest settlement.
I told her i was fine.. nothing... still...
maybe I feel better after some sleep.

Repped for the story - so you still haven't see 'them' yet???? Those mystery ships that swirl out of the inky black, zap the Barnies of all their stored goodies and then slip away again into the inky nothingness...
Nah.... Me neither. I'll be heading back to the bubble tonight. You can only stare at the ground for so long before the boredom becomes too severe to endure any longer. Guess I'll find myself a combat CG and do some Pew Pew instead

Firs night I went there, spent an hour waiting, got bored, flew home & changed ships (for the SRV), flew back and the event triggered just as I was coming out of glide, about 10 Km away. Recorded it from the air, flew out and engaged SC, flew back down, sat for an hour and it triggered again. Been back the last two evenings, 3 hours the first night, 2 hours last with no performance by the aliens. o7
