Useful tips for new players

My Tip - many of the tutorials are fun. I base this on the Combat Tutorial Demo* I downloaded for the PC. I've learned a lot about tactics by flying the same practice missions and fighting the same ships over and over, and dying is no big deal. And even though you fight the same ship, no two battles are alike.

* if demo is completely unrelated to in-game tutorials, please correct me

if the witchspace tunnel turns a funny green and yellow color, go kitchen and make a brew and a snack. its only the jellyfish saying hello, and they are mostly harmless

1. Change the default button for boosting. If PS4 controller's buttons are as finicky as my XB1 controller's buttons, it'll throw in an extra tap of the button when you go to hold it down for deploying landing gear or cargo scoop. Or the controller falls off your leg while you're looking up something in INARA/EDDB and lands on the floor with the boost button getting tapped. (true story)
2. If you take on additional cargo/weight after plotting a route, you may need to re-plot as your jump distance may have gone down. Your reminder is the ship refusing to start the jump countdown because the jump exceeds fuel capacity or something (I haven't seen it in a long time because I follow this rule).

learn the controls you dont want to be looking at your hands in a dogfight especially with asteroids around.

learn how to land manually and quickly as having no canopy = limited time to live = rebuy

accept the fact that you will die from your own stupidity :) like hitting boost by accident and slamming your brand new vulture into the station interior then spinning into another ship then being shot at by the station for being a noob

If Harry shows up on PS4, he too will have to start from scratch. So, no big deal. ;)

But the difference is, he and the rest of you experienced playing converts to ps4, start not only with an agenda, but have the abilities to follow through. While we noobs will still be the learning how to get out of the way of stations protocol for dealing those that can't fly, and or go tooooo slow.

I know the winders are free, but is there an unlimited supply to replace the dozen or more for me, let alone the rest of the class of current noob?

Remember you don't have to play in open. There is solo and private. So why not create private group and play with friends only, that way you know your greifers :):D

Go on solo to familiarize yourself with the controls after you finish the training missions. Take it slow and don't go blowing your winder trying to dock or bounty hunt.

Or simply leave the starter systems area. Chances of running into anyone are very slim once you do.

When you're in the free to replace loaned Sidey is precisely the time to get blown up docking and bounty hunting! Make your mistakes, learn how to fly, how to dogfight now rather than when you have a large rebuy cost.

Hence my question somewhere else; Considering how many noobs are going to as the "GLBT" says "Come out" or attemp to head out, all at or about the same time. Is whom ever loans the winders to us, have enough to handle the throng with replacements? Cause I ain't doubbling up with anyone whom isn't at least 10 years younger, a natural size 6, D-cup, blond haired, blue eyed female.

You just described my HoloMe. In all seriousness, if I create a separate PSN account to have a 2nd CMDR, I'll likely role-play as a younger female. Just don't expect basketballs hanging from my chest (couldn't do that if I wanted to). She'll be pretty, nonetheless.

After jumping into a system, you may see a message leading to an interdiction. The NPC (or PC) has to be behind you to do it. Fly close to the star then cut throttle and turn tail to the star. They will drop out next to the star when trying to get behind you.
