What makes you think 6 months? I sincerely doubt they will want to wait too long after the PS4 version is released. From the noises I am hearing, I am guessing that part 1 of 2.4 is almost ready to go out the door, so I expect we will see a beta within 1-2 months from now. I also sincerely doubt we will need to wait for the core gameplay upgrades as long as had to wait for the headline features we got in season 2.

Are we having betas, just seem 2.4 is mostly story. I wonder how much they will want to test in the public domain.
Someone on facebook mention Holome updates so may be something for a public beta.

Guess this guy has never heard the term "Influencers" before.
Obsidian Ant and all the others who were invited are well known for their efforts in communicating to their audiences about Elite Dangerous. And they all do an outstanding job at that. Especially Obsidian Ant! The fact that they are all located within driving distance of Frontier made this all possible.
Does all the Sour Grapes come from this person because THEY actually believe that THEY should have been invited instead?

Judging from stuff I've been hearing-such as in OA's video-there is a lot of non-story content in 2.4 as well. Maybe not as much as in 2.1-2.3, but still quite a bit. It will probably only be stage 1 that would have the beta, as I suspect that will be the only part with non-story based content.
I hear ya. That was my first reaction as well. But... Some of what I saw had a certain ring of truth to it, and that is what concerns me greatly.
I could see Frontier doing this out of an innocent ignorance of the kind of S Storm such a move will ultimately bring down on their heads.

I was just going off of the last several major release patches, which have been pretty consistently spread 6 months apart. Even if 2.4 is close, I imagine the core gameplay improvements after that will be quite a ways off. At the very least, 6 months from now.
